Little Song Bird Is Pregnant - Chapter 107 - Choosing The Department
Chapter 107 – Choosing The Department
The spirit ship reached the top of the academy. Like a little buddle, the shield that was placed around the academy popped and let the ship fly in.
Wren took a good look around. The academy was spread about fifteen kilometers wide wit huge castle-like structures. One of the towers was in the center. This was the one he nicked when was landing his spirit ship. The rest of the towers surround it on all sides.
"Young master… a lot of your father's men are there to protect you inside the academy. While training, please never leave the academy's premises." The old man whispered ever so softly.
Wren subtly nodded. He knew things were getting dire now. If he was in this prestigious academy, his enemies would not attack him outright. But they can easily send assassins in the middle of the night to kill him off.
He slightly frowned.
"Don't fret my young Lord, violence is prohibited in the campus. Only in specific training rooms and in the safety of your own room would you be able to use your sword and your spiritual energy. This is to prevent any type of harm on the students before they could mature."
"Ah that's nice then,"
"Wren~" Camilla ran to him while Flora was pulling her back strongly. "do you see~ my sister lives there!" she happily pointed to the tallest towers.
"oh, I see,"
'What a bland response. You don't know about that tower, do you? It's where all the powerful spirit level cultivators teach only the very talented and powerful students can join that tower.. ahh I hope one day I can take a lesson there,"
Wren did not have such aspirations. he was here to train on his own, with slight guidance of course, and to stay safe for a bit until his cultivation has increased.
After that, he would move on to other cities and explore the world with his mate.
"Which department are you aiming for?"
"Department?…." Wren slightly was overwhelmed. He did a brief research on the academy with the time he had in hand. But he should have done an in-depth research. He did not know a thing about this place.
Walking into unknown territory was the most dangerous. That was also the reason he did not want to cross Camilla. Even though she had an uncouth tongue she always gave him useful information.
"I'm going for the swordsmanship department~"
"What? There are other departments here?"
Camilla moved closer. "Well, you have swordsmanship, alchemy, weapon forging, arts, and many other departments. You will be allowed to choose one right now and train on it. After a month they will keep our real admission test."
"Can I take some time to decide?"
"I guess so… I mean you have an hour to decide but if you want to take some time, you can talk to the teachers and make your choice later on,"
Wren thought of this option.
Spirit ship landed. Shuri and his friend disembarked first.
Wren Camilla Flora and Meng Lei all got down after them. The old man waved at him subtly and flew away with his ship.
"Students please follow me," one of the academy representatives welcomes them.
He was in his teens but his cultivation was surprisingly high. He was an earth-level cultivator.
After foundation and core formation one reaches the next level called the earth level where the cultivator becomes one with nature.
Wren peered at his palm. Since he was a fire spiritual cultivator, he would definitely have to become one with the flame to reach the earth realm.
He was still far from it. His cultivation has not reached that high…yet.
Wren was optimistic.
The six of them were led to an auditorium. Three people sat on the dais with bored looks on their faces.
"ohh six, we have six guys!" one of the younger-looking kid who was sitting on the dais happily shouted.
"We each take two and we are even," the other one on spectacles whispered with a smirk.
"No! we need to know who gets the first choice." The other green-haired man said.
Wren silently looked at their exchange. "Who are they?" she silently whispered to Camilla.
"Our seniors. They are in charge of choosing the students for their departments. The short cute one is from the alchemy department, the green-haired man is from swordsmanship, the one in specks is from the weapon forging department. The other departments don't get the first choice in choosing students."
Wren slightly frowned. "I thought we got to choose?"
"Yeah we do. But if they accept or not is not under control. What of all of the participants wanted to join swordsmanship? Then the other department won't have any students left. That's why the seniors get to choose,"
"How will they choose?"
"shh.." Camilla pinched his hands and gestured for him to look up.
One of the seniors was looking at him. it was the short cute ten-year-old looking guy. He waved at him.
Wren hesitantly waved back.
The green-haired man pinched the little kid's cheeks.
"Ow,"
"Stop trying to steal students before we all vote," he glanced at them all and cleared his throat. "Everyone when your name is called, please come up front. The three of us will vote if we want you in our department or not. If you get chosen by a single judge, you have to join that department or you can join any other department other than these three.
"And if you get chosen by more than one senior, then you have the choice to choose between the two departments," the guy in spectacles said, scribbling something. "Shuri Atul, please come forward,"
Shuri walked up front with his chest puffed up. With a haughty glare at his direction, he chuckled. "I'm Shuri from the Atul family. I'm very pleased to be accepted by this prestigious academy,"
"You have portrayed.. well… some qualities…" the green-haired man slightly frowned.
Camilla slightly giggled near his ear. "oh he is toast,"
Wren glanced at her.
"every year Atul family bullies people into getting the spot. The only thing they can't control is the senior's choice. This time, Yehsav has taken that spot. He is a very just swordsman who does not prefer any tricks… hehe.. Shuri is screwed…"
"Silence," the spectacles guy peered at him.
Wren nodded and gestured for Camilla to shut up.
"Seniors let's vote for Shuri. Raise your hand if you want him in your department,"
Only the spectacles guy raised his hand.
Shuri looked at the green-haired guy, Yehsav in shock. "I'm a swordsman! I am very talented in my sword art. Why am I not chosen for the department?"
"Sorry, but not sorry. You are not my first choice,"
Shuri softly panted n rage. "I demand for the teachers to come out. this is unjust,"
"Just or not, this responsibility was given to us by our teachers. So.. it's our say. If you want to choose weapon forging you can choose that or you can try the various other departments available"
"no!"
"Then please wait out…next~" the green-haired man waved his hand.
Shuri was pushed out of the door.
"Flora Sheli, come up front. You have portrayed an excellent performance. Who's voting for her?"
All the three seniors raised their hands.
"I choose swordsmanship," she said softly.
"Great, welcome dear junior," the green-haired man laughed in glee. "next up, Wren… just Wren?"
"Just Wren," he walked up front.
"Hmm, your performance was surprisingly good. But in the middle of the test, you disappeared for half an hour. Can you tell me where you were?" the guy in spectacles peered at him.
"Exploring." Wren curtly answered. Everyone must have known about the fire spirit. That thing was literally right in the open. Any greedy person would have their eyes on it.
Only issue no one is able to harness it or even store it. that's why the baby fire spirit was left behind in the frosty mountain.
"Vote for Wren."
Two of the seniors raised their hands except for the spectacles guy.
Wren looked between them.
"Pick me,"' the little kid happily waved at him.
Wren thought about it for a bit. He got his mother's alchemy book. if he studied that course maybe he would be able to understand why it was sought after.
"I pick alchemy,"
"Oh man.." the green-haired man sighed.
"Great choice young man!" the little kid happily hopped in his seat. "Please wait out the door. I'll escort you personally to your dorms. Hehe…"
Wren walked out. Right by the door Shuri stood there frozen in shock.
He decided to ignore him completely and walked away.
"Which did you choose?" the man suddenly said.
"Alchemy,"
"Ha-ha. I knew it. That senior is not willing to choose anyone for his swordsman department! That's why… I will defiantly complain about this to my clan. They will take care of it. How dare he reject me…"
Wren silently sat in the corner. Feng poked his head out. "Good choice… I thought you would choose swordsmanship. Somehow I felt like the sword did not match you.."
"I know.. even I feel alien about it. Maybe I should try practicing with other weapons?"
"Spear? Bow and arrow?"
"We have all the time to choose."
