Chapter 83 – Hunted

"Low, go low,"

Hua Ro flew lower down until the beautiful crystal-like river was seen below. The waters that were one flourishing with Mers now were devoid of any. The Mer Island that was once a hot spot for many fishermen was now abandoned.

"Go low," Hachin tugged at his neck feathers.

Screeching softly Hua Ro flew low enough that his claws were touching the water surface.

His mate leaned down and waited with his hands in the water.

"Little to the left,"

He banked left and flew there, according to his commands.

Hachin suddenly grabbed a fish out of water. "got it! Hua fly up,"

The fish wiggled a lot in his hold.

Hachin peered at it with a small glare. "you, little fish, I have a job for you. go swim down to the bottom of the shore and inform the oyster tribe that dangerous people are on their way. They need to evacuate quickly."

The fish stopped jumping around and looked at him with a dull gaze. Its opened and closed its mouth. Outside the water, he could not understand these small fishes but he can read their lips and guess their words.

It just said, 'you're an oyster why don't you swim down?'

Hachin sighed. "I don't have time. I have to go rescue someone. go and convey this information,"

The fish turned away from him.

"You're refusing? Don't test my Patience fish.." the fish refused to speak to him after that. "Hua, fly up high. The skies are riddled with falcons. we'll see who gets this little fish,"

The fish started to wiggle around in panic.

"I will spare you, but only if you do as I asked. Go inform the oyster clan! If not I will chase you down to the end of the world and I will make you into toast fish drying you in the sun and I will feed you to the rats! Then I will make those rats puke it out and make them eat it again and again until there is not even a bone left on your body!"

The fish trembled slightly with his fins tucked in.

"So you willing to heed my command?"

{"yes..'}

It agreed to his wishes.

"Hua fly low,"

Hua Ro flew down just like before.

Hachin leaned down and placed the fish in water. "if you fail me, I swear upon my honor I will come for you, your children, and you children's children… got it?"

The fish nodded and swam under.

"Now all we need to do is to find Wren. He must be here in the village close. but we should check the shores before that. He likes staying close to the ocean,"

they flew around for a while above the shores.

"do you see anything?"

Hua Ro glanced back and shook his head. he was in his beats form and could not say things out loud. But his mate was…. plucking his feathers and did not even realise it.

"can't you even find a small bird and my friend? You are supposed to be a the great predator!"

He was a predator, but the problem was he was badly wounded by that Feng and his cultivation dropped drastically. Even if someone put on a shield to hide their presence he would not have been able to find it out.

Hua Ro swooped down close to the Mer islands.

The sooner they find Hachin's friend the better it was. The cultivators that were searching for Wren are dangerous. If they caught sight of him, they will do anything to capture and eat him alive.

Since Hachin was associated with him they would even capture him to get more information.

Inside, he cursed out loud.

"I see something…." Hachin pointed to the small crescent beach nearby the Mer island.

He sharpened his eyes and looked once more. There was a small shine from that spot. 'probably used a shield as I guessed.'

Hua Ro flew down swiftly. Right before he could land, his mate jumped off.

Hurriedly he shifted form and caught him carefully. "you're with child,"

"That's old news,' he jumped out of his arms and ran to the shield. He tapped on it and peaked in. "I see a tent! He must be in there. see if you can destroy this."

Hua Ro gestured for him to move away and swung his huge wings. The wind turned into small blades cutting into the shield.

"Who!" Wren walked out half-naked with only his pants on. His whole upper body was covered in bite marks and nails marks.

"W-Wren… whoa… what…." Hachin blushed softly.

Hua Ro growled loudly and hugged his mate close. "You, get as far away from here as possible. Some bad men are here to find you. Warn your mate he will know where to hide away,"

Wren just silently looked at him, especially at the arm that was holding his dear friend.

"We have said what has to be said. Lest go," Hua Ro gently tugged at his mate's waist.

Hachin just gave him a stern look.

He paused.

"Wren, I saw them. There are bad men coming to hurt your clan. I have already sent a message to our clan. We need to run."

"What!" Wren hurried inside the tent and came out with a sword.

"Hey wait! Listen to everything before you storm out! They are coming for you, not the clan. If you go down there they will destroy everyone and everything we know of. Just…. just come with me. He knows of a place to hide,"

He glanced at him.

Hua Ro just snarled. "Only him, not that Phoenix,"

"Where I go, he comes,"

"Then you don't come with us,"

"Hua!" Hachin glared up at him.

Hua just shrugged. "We have bad blood. I don't want to expose my hiding spots to him,"

"This is not the time to be petty. If you continue to be so I will definitely punch you in the face.

Hus lowered his head and nodded. "Bring that Feng."

Wren hurried in and brought out a person wrapped in blankets.

Suddenly Hua Ro excitedly moved close. "Did you kill him?"

"Move before I behead you," Wren growled hiding his lover safely in his arms.

Hachin dragged Hua back. "Enough, we have to leave fast,"

Hua Ro on the other hand, was peering up at the sky. "We're too late. They are close. if we fly now they will find us. This way," he lifted Hachin in his arms and ran into the small gorge in the crescent like rock formation.

Wren ran away after him. but before that he revisited the tent and destroyed every trace they left behind.

"hurry," Hachin whisper shouted.

Qu Wren took one last glance at the sky. He could make out three figures flying above the clouds.

"Wren!"

"Coming," he ran into the gorge and they all hid behind, a small cave-like structure.

Hua Ro gestured for them to be silent.

Wren looked around. This whole cave was made from the spirit stone he found Feng in. It will definitely mask their own spiritual energy. Those coming to search for them will not have a single clue they were hiding so close by.

"Bang! Bang!!!"

Water gushed out into the gorge filling the same cave.

Wren carefully shook Feng away with a hand on his mouth. His lover woke up with a stunned look on his face. He then looked around.

He gestured for him to be silent.

The cave was completely filled with water. Wren gently kissed Feng's lips sending him oxygen.

Hachin just swam around Hua Ro was holding his breath.

Silently he too sought out his mate for air.

Blushing softly, Hachin blew out a small bubble for him to breathe.

Hua was slightly sad about this. Yet he kept his mate close, protecting his belly at all cost.

"bang!! Bang!!!!!"

  The noises became too intense. The ground shook. The small cave they were standing in started to collapse a bit.

Wren pushed against the side of the walls holding back the huge rocks that were on the verge of collapse.

Hua Ro did the same while hugging his mate close.

"boom! Boom!!!!!"

The sound was terrifying.

It was like the world was being destroyed. The land shook, the water heated up.

Wren had a very bad foreboding in his heart. He could feel something in his soul aching… calling…

He desperately wanted to run out and search for this mysterious calling..

He was not sure what that feeling was…

After twenty minutes the sounds of the gruesome attack stopped.

The water receded and they crawled out slowly.

The sight outside broke his heart.

Everything… everything was destroyed…. the Mer island they once knew was slashed.

"d-do you think they all survived…" Hachin tightly griped Hua's hand.

Wren was in a dazed state. That familiar feeling, he could still feel it in the air. He glanced up and only caught a small sigh of pink hair.

His heart stopped.

It was one of his mum's killers and that man just destroyed his home….
