Little Song Bird Is Pregnant - Chapter 94 - The Auction House

Chapter 94 – The Auction House
Wren happily walked through the busy streets with the book held tenderly in his hand. this book was very old and was on the verge of tearing. The pages were falling out.
Walking into a small alleyway he swiftly placed it in his space pouch while no eyes were looking.
But what he didn't know was so many eyes were always following him.
Feng, who was inside his shirt, sensed those weird gazes. He poked his head out and peered behind them. There were at least four shady figures following them right after Wren used the space pouch that number increased to ten.
'Small fries. They are really annoying when they attack in groups,'
He couldn't help but remember the stab wound he got from a human. It was all the reason he lost his cultivation, plus the thunder tribulation destroyed his body completely. If had been a normal bird, he could have been ashes.
Since he was a Phoenix he escaped that miraculously.
'I got to meet my mate too. That's an added bonus,'
He happily snuggled against Wren's neck. 'Wait, I'm supported to be guarding his back. Wren look behind you. There are so many following you,' he patted his wings on his collarbone.
Wren carefully held his small head and shoved him back inside his shirt. "Stay in dear~ I'll find us a room and I'll let you out,"
'Hey I'm serious. There are people following us…' he patted his wings again chirping softly.
Wren glanced down at him with a smile. "I know. I can deal with them. Don't worry little Feng,"
'It's better to be careful, okay….' he chirped. Only small bird noises came out of his mouth.
He could see Wren smiling.
"Are you hungry again? We'll eat some local specialties,"
Feng was beyond frustrated by this communication problem. 'I need to find a translator artifact of some sorts.'
A device like that did exist, but he never had the need for that. Mu Zheng was also a bird, and he was the only friend and family he had. They both could easily chirp and chirp all day without using human language.
But with Wren it was really really hard to get his point across. His silly mate only assumed that he was hungry all the time.
'even back then he made me eat that dreadful meat because of miscommunication. That's it. I can't deal with this. We have to solve this issue right now,' he slightly poked his head out and glanced around.
His eyes potted an auction house and store nearby. "chirp~" he pointed at it.
"you want to go there?"
"chirp chirp,"
"okey~" Wren happily shoved him in again and hopped in the store.
Feng sneakily poked his head out and glanced around. This store had a few good things here and there. But they were not here for those. He was specifically looking for a translator artifact. with his bird eyes focused he looked around at the displays.
He glanced up at his ignorant mate. Wren was just curiously looking at the items on display.
"You're not allowed in here. go out," a stern voice shouted ahead.
Feng stretched his neck to look at this arrogant person 'who dares stop my mate, huh?!'
It was a handsome man, dressed in white. his arm band had the store logo.
"why? I am willing to buy things," Wren said.
Feng nodded. 'yeah tell him we're rick. We might not be that rick but we have money okay! don't dare disrespect my dear Wren!'
The clerk just looked at Wren up and down.
Wren usually liked dressing in plain clothes. So this time to he chose a black spider silk cloth that looks more like cotton and a beige pant. Anyone without keen eyes would not notice the value of the material.
The clerk scoffed at him with his nose raised in the air. "Beggars, go out to the night market you'll get things for a few silvers,"
Wren was ready to go out. But Feng bit his skin.
'You can't, this store has so many good things!'
"What are you still doing here, dirtying the floor! go out!"
Wren slightly glared at him. Somehow he did not like the vibe this man was giving. He was blatantly looking down on him. "I said I am going to look around. What's stopping me? you?"
Feng snapped his head up. An invisible spiritual force was formed around Wren. His mate was doing it without realizing it.
The clerk somehow backed away with an awkward smile. "Look around. Don't break or steal anything… I.. I swear ill call the guards,"
Giving him a cold look, Wren walked around. The treasures were kept in a small glass display. Everything was named and had a price tag. Even the smallest item he saw was tagged at 500 gold. With this amount a farmer's family can live well like a king.
Glancing down, he noticed Feng's eyes shimmer slightly as he looked at the treasures.
Wren touched his pouch with a sigh. He only brought about 50000 gold with him. the rest was in the spirit ship. Also all this money was Feng's. He felt reluctant to spend it. 'I need to get rich. Maybe after joining college I should go on a treasure hunt. I can earn more that way,' he thought as he walked past many displays.
"Chirp~" Feng's small chirp snapped him out of his thoughts.
"What is it?" Wren gently caressed his cute red feather.
"Chirp chirp," Feng pointed at a small round copper bell. It was as small as a pearl with small designs engrave din it. "Lingo bell, can help translate any language you hear?! Oh my god, this is awesome. Feng you can talk to me with this," he excitedly touched the glass.
The bell inside cost about 10000 gold.
Wren glanced at the clerk, who gave him a cold shoulder. He was smiling and whispering something to another customer. The man looked about twenty years old wearing azure luxurious embroidered silk clothes. Even the sword hanging on his hip looked fancy.
He glanced at his attire. It was too simple, like a commoner. And his sword was also wrapped up in black cloth.
"ah that's why he was treating me like that! Should, I also wear luxurious clothes like that?" he smiled at his mate.
Feng shook his head.
"then I won't. I really don't like weighted clothes. Human clothes are really heavy, unlike the way they look," he looked around searching for another clerk.
In another corner there was a small stout man couched down. He was wearing the same clothes as the clerk. His shoulders were trembling slightly.
Wren walked close to him and patted his back. "are you okay?"
"No…." he looked up with snot running down his face. "w-what do want, dear customer?"
"I want to purchase that lingo bell,"
"y-you… form me?" he questionably pointed to himself.
"yes, I don't see any other clerk here."
"Yes!" the short man stood up swiftly. His chubby belly shook like a pudding.
Wren looked at him with a smile. "Why were you crying by the way?"
"No one wanted to buy from me?"
Wren did not understand his word choices. "Is this your shop?"
"No, I'm a clerk, but no one likes my appearance, so they chose Raj," he said, wiping his tears away. "I'll serve you with all my full heart, sir,"
"oh-kay, I just want to the lingo bell…" Wren handed the gold coins to him
"w-wow…..sure thing sir," the little man ran to the display and took the item to check out. There was a small line of busy clerks waiting there.
"Looks like it will take while. Why don't we take a look around hmm," he wandered around aimlessly. The floors were so shiny and smooth that Wren slipped on it a little with every step.
His rattan shoes did not grip on tightly.
Feng poked his head and looked down at his feet disappointedly. 'I gave you shoes. Why didn't you wear them?!'
Wren somehow understood his wordless complaint. "I did not like the feeling of shoes. It's weird…"
He was so used to living in the waters without shoes carelessly swimming around. but on land he had to wear heavy clothes tight shoes. He did not like it at all.
So he chose the ratten shoes gifted by that kind of fisherman.
'Looks like Feng disapproves…. sigh I dint want to wear leather shoes….' he thought on the inside.
As he was walking by a few displays, he suddenly felt a sharp shocking feeling in his body.
He froze. 'w-what was that?..'
Wren vigilantly glanced around. On the display beside him there was a small blue porcelain plate. It was just a normal spiritual plate that could give you an unlimited amount of food. But that was not what caught his interest.
It was the square black rock the plate was resting on.
It did not look spectacular in any way but the spiritual energy from it was so vast.
Every without touching it, he could feel the spiritual waves crashing out of it. the energy felt vaguely familiar. Like thunder and fire merged together….
The little clerk ran to him with his purchase. "Sir here is your order. Thank you for choosing me,"
"I want this!" Wren pointed to the rock.
"Nosh plate. It's a good choice. it will be 15000 gold. It's quite pricy for a nosh plate but you can get quality spiritual food form it." the man lifted the glass display.
"Yeah, I want that rock too,"
"The rock?"
"The black rock it is resting on,"
"Oh that's free."
Wren looked at the man as if he was insane. 'Why would anyone sell such a valuable stone for free?! Either way great deal for me.., hehe….'
