Lord of Prayer - Chapter 107 - 92: Sorry, I’m a Cop

Chapter 107: Chapter 92: Sorry, I’m a Cop
Two kilometers from Blue Diamond Manor, in a deserted mountain forest.
The figures of the stranger and the Gentleman suddenly materialized.
The Gentleman fell to the ground, a wretched mess. Flesh and blood writhed within his shattered skull, attempting to heal, but the Anti-Demon Attribute of the Alchemy Bullet suppressed the Corrupter’s powerful Recovery Ability. It continued to inflict burning damage, filling the air with the scent of roasting meat.
Meanwhile, the stranger’s body once again began to age at a visible rate. His white hair fell out in clumps, his eye sockets sank, his wrinkles deepened, his figure hunched over, and his muscles wasted away…
In the blink of an eye, he had become a frail old man whose life was like a candle flickering in the wind.
CRUNCH… CRUNCH… The sound of footsteps on dry leaves echoed through the dark woods. A mysterious person stepped out from behind a tree. They had a handsome, androgynous face, waist-length black hair, and skin so fair it was impossible to tell if they were male or female.
“How tragic. How did the famous Gentleman end up in a state like this?”
The mysterious person, codenamed “Lover,” clicked their tongue and shook their head, reveling in the chaos.
They took an exquisite Crystal vial from their pocket, twisted open the cap, and poured the diluted Immortal Spring Water onto the Gentleman’s shattered head.
Cells regenerated, organs reformed, bones grew, spirit was nourished… In less than three seconds, the Gentleman’s head had grown back, and his injuries were mostly healed.
“Where’s the item?” Lover asked.
“Cyan Whale hid it. That woman, Li Xiaoxiao, is Cyan Whale… If the intel hadn’t been wrong, we would’ve had the item long ago.” The Gentleman climbed to his feet, his expression dark. The thought of all the missed opportunities to strike made him burn with regret.
Lover spread their hands innocently. “You should blame that Fina Blanch for this. Who knew that even as a fellow Steward, she wouldn’t know Cyan Whale’s true identity? Besides, you were lying in wait near Cyan Whale for so many days. You never discovered she was the one?”
The Gentleman shook his head. “She hid herself very well. And I didn’t dare venture deep into her villa. It’s protected by an Abyss Curse.”
“What now? The Star Association was clearly prepared. The item will probably fall into their hands.” At this point, Lover made a bold suggestion. “How about… we just summon our seniors to come and take it by force? If we’re fast enough, the Star Association won’t have time to react. If one Tier Five isn’t enough, we’ll bring two…”
“Not yet. That would blow things out of proportion and be difficult to handle. As a former Star Association Operator, my advice to you is to never underestimate the Star Association’s Power.”
The Gentleman gazed at the night sky, which was dyed red by the distant glow of fire, and narrowed his eyes. “Eternal Fire still has cards they haven’t played. If Cyan Whale manages to escape, we’ll still have a chance. If she’s captured, then we contact His Holiness, the ’Pope,’ and ask him to make the decision.”
He paused, then turned to the old man beside him. “Is this your ’lover’?”
“Yes, and a rare Space Type Ascender at that. But he exhausted all his potential and Life Force to save you,” Lover said regretfully.
Space Type Ascenders are even rarer than Spiritual Type Ascenders. With proper training and development, their future achievements would be anything but small.
Compared to that, however, the Gentleman was more important—both him and his Magic Wand. Of course, if Lover had known Cyan Whale’s exact location, they would have unhesitatingly sent the man to use this one precious opportunity to bring her back. Unfortunately, they didn’t know where she was.
The man’s true Extraordinary Ability was “Spatial Shifting Object,” which could only move non-living objects within a three-meter radius.
Lover had used a Forbidden Object to squeeze out all of the man’s potential, transforming his ability into the terrifying one he now possessed: able to carry a living being and perform an Instant Movement over a two-kilometer range.
The cost was burning thirty years of Life Force with each use.
Just two uses of Instant Teleportation had turned the man into an old man nearly a hundred years of age.
“Thank you for your assistance.” The Gentleman removed his hat and placed a hand on his chest in a polite gesture of gratitude.
“Honey, you did so well.” The androgynous Lover gave the old man a sweet smile, as radiant as a flower.
“For you, I would do anything,” the old man rasped, his eyes filled with fanatical adoration.
’As long as I can see that smile…’
’As long as I can see that beautiful smile, as long as I can see her look of joy, it’s all worth it…’
“Then, please die for me now.”
Lover’s expression was one of deep affection as they smiled and added the chilling words, “For my sake.”
“Alright…” The old man took a dagger from his pocket and plunged it into his own heart without hesitation. ’Any trace of reluctance would be a betrayal of my love.’
A Curse hidden within the dagger erupted. The old man’s body burst into a raging Fiery Fire, and in an instant, he was incinerated into black ash.
“Let’s go. The Essence Fluctuation won’t escape the Star Association’s detection devices,” Lover said nonchalantly.
The Gentleman nodded. He tapped his Walking Stick on the ground and once again performed the trick of the Great Transformation of Living People. The two of them vanished from the forest.
Twenty-nine seconds later, a fully-armed combat squad arrived at the scene, only to find a charred corpse burned to cinders.

「Meanwhile, at Blue Diamond Manor.」
The Gentleman had been instantly rescued. Having lost their target, everyone was stunned for a second or two.
Zhou Chen was just as bewildered at first. When he came to his senses, he slapped his thigh so hard that sparks flew from his Battle Armor.
’Shit, I’m screwed!’
’That bastard, the Gentleman, has me in his sights now!’
Being marked by an elusive assassin was not good news. As long as the Gentleman was alive, Zhou Chen would have to live in constant fear, always on guard against someone suddenly rising from his own shadow to stab him.
