Lord of Prayer - Chapter 110 - 94: Wringing a Towel

Chapter 110: Chapter 94: Wringing a Towel
(Oh my god, the last Chapter got banned. What did I even write? Let’s see if I can get it unbanned… This is tough.)
All was silent.
In the stillness of the night, killing intent brewed.
Jiang Che approached slowly, stopping about five meters from the car.
She pulled her right hand from her pocket and made a sudden clenching motion at the bodyguard.
POP!
A high-pitched, panicked scream erupted from the female Secretary inside the car, so Jiang Che shifted her hand slightly and clenched her fist again.
POP!
The world fell quiet.
With a flick of her finger, the car door beside Fu Qing swung open automatically.
“Get out.”
Fu Qing got out of the car, his expression dark and his eyes filled with undisguised venom. But after a few seconds, he unexpectedly let out a laugh, a sense of indescribable absurdity washing over him.
“You’re an Ascender?”
“You’re actually an Ascender?”
He had checked the Star Association’s internal files through various channels. According to their records, Jiang Che was, without a doubt, an ordinary person!
Not awakened, never studied Alchemy, possessed no Power whatsoever—just a complete and utter ordinary person!
She had reached her current position entirely by demonstrating a level of reason and judgment far beyond most people, successfully resolving numerous Extraordinary incidents that posed significant threats.
The Star Association’s internal employee records were supposed to be infallible. Besides, the Association conducted annual physicals; if Jiang Che were an Ascender, she would have surely been discovered.
Yet the files clearly stated she was an ordinary person.
That’s why Fu Qing felt it was so absurd. There was only one possibility: Jiang Che was hiding the fact that she was an Ascender. She had somehow even managed to deceive the Star Association.
’But was there any need to hide it?’
“I became an Ascender many years ago,” Jiang Che said calmly.
Fu Qing’s smile vanished, a shadow crossing his eyes. ’My senses only detect one person,’ he thought. ’This means if I can kill Jiang Che, I can escape Jinzhu and disappear for good.’
In that instant, Essence surged within Fu Qing. The air around him erupted violently as three sharp Qi Blades swept out. This was his Extraordinary Ability, “Air Blade Slash,” capable of easily slicing a person in two and even cutting through special alloys.
The three Qi Blades shrieked through the air, their razor edges gleaming, only to stop abruptly three meters in front of Jiang Che. It was as if they had been frozen in time, unable to advance another inch.
A second later, all three Qi Blades shattered.
“You…”
Fu Qing was stunned. ’I’m a Tier Two Ascender,’ he thought. ’My Qi Blades are faster than bullets and more powerful than armor-piercing rounds from an anti-materiel rifle. They can even cut through the armor of the Raven Team! How could they be stopped so easily?’
“What Tier are you?!” Fu Qing stumbled back two steps.
Jiang Che didn’t answer. She simply raised her hand and made a light clenching gesture.
With a sickening CRUNCH, an invisible force crushed Fu Qing’s ankle and lower leg into a bloody pulp. Shattered bones pierced through his skin. His retreat faltered, and losing his balance, he collapsed to the ground with a thud.
In a panic, Fu Qing threw his hand up, launching two more Qi Blades. One, due to the angle, shot toward the car. It sliced a deep gash into the vehicle as easily as scissors cutting paper. As steel scraped on steel, a single spark fell and ignited the fuel tank.
A massive explosion erupted. Fiery Fire gushed out, engulfing the car in an instant. Ferocious tongues of fire danced wildly, leaping toward the sky as if intent on burning everything to ash.
The other Qi Blade, meanwhile, also stopped dead three meters in front of Jiang Che before bizarrely shattering.
“Space Type? Telekinesis Type? What exactly is your Ability? How can you be this strong…”
Fu Qing gritted his teeth, using his arms to drag himself backward. “You’ve been hiding your true strength? Who are you preparing for?”
“Even now, you still don’t recognize me? Or have you simply killed so many people that you can’t remember the little girl who escaped your slaughter all those years ago?”
Jiang Che spoke coolly, the blazing firelight casting her figure in flickering light and shadow.
Fu Qing frowned. Jiang Che’s words jogged his memory, reminding him of an incident from many years ago.
Back then, he was still young, just a henchman who did dirty work for powerful people.
More than a decade ago, the “Night of the Sun’s Fall” had thrown the Star Association into a brief period of turmoil. Political struggles erupted, and many ambitious individuals tried to seize the opportunity to climb the ranks.
The powerful figure he served had ordered him to assassinate many rivals. The orders weren’t just to kill the targets themselves, but to exterminate their entire families to prevent any future retaliation.
But on one occasion, when he led a team to kill a man named Jiang Ye, the man’s daughter managed to escape. He sent his subordinate after her, but the man returned shortly after, reporting that the little girl had been hit and killed by a truck while fleeing. Her body was mangled, and with so many people at the scene, it was impossible to retrieve it.
His subordinate swore it was true, and after Fu Qing went to the crash site himself and confirmed that a child had indeed been killed, he gave the matter no further thought.
Now, with this reminder, he pictured the face of that little girl from all those years ago and superimposed it on Jiang Che’s. He was struck to realize they shared a strong resemblance.
“It’s you…” Fu Qing’s voice grew hoarse as he glared at her. “I shouldn’t have been so careless back then. I should have hunted you down myself! A bunch of worthless trash… a bunch of worthless trash…”
“What’s the use in saying any of that now?”
Jiang Che asked coldly, “Can it change the fact that you’re about to die?”
Fu Qing said nothing more. He only panted heavily, glaring at Jiang Che with bloodshot, venomous eyes. ’I’m definitely going to die today.’
’And it’s going to be a very painful death.’
“That night, I was pestering my dad to take me to the zoo and begging my mom to take me to the opera. They smiled and agreed. They even said that if I scored a perfect one hundred on my next test, they would take me to visit the Alchemy Association.”
Jiang Che gazed at the distant night sky, reminiscing about a past long gone. Then, her gaze, so cold it was terrifying, fell upon Fu Qing.
“I had a wonderful family.”
“But you destroyed it.”
“So I will spend the rest of my life taking my revenge on every last one of you.”
“You are not the first, and you won’t be the last.”
Jiang Che extended her hands, one aimed as if to grab Fu Qing’s head, the other his legs.
Then…
Fu Qing’s body twisted in mid-air. Copious amounts of blood were squeezed from his body as his bones emitted the sound of being crushed, snapping and shattering all at once.
Three seconds later, Fu Qing was… a gruesome, twisted corpse.
·
When Zhou Chen arrived, he saw Jiang Che standing silently beside the wreckage of the car, lost in thought. He also saw a horrifying corpse twisted like a pretzel.
He gasped, unable to stop himself from crying out:
“Holy shit!”
’What kind of novel way to die is this?’
Jiang Che looked over at him calmly.
“Hiss… That technique of yours is really something. Any chance you could teach me?” Zhou Chen asked, feigning the air of a humble student.
