Lord of Prayer - Chapter 145 115: Incarnation of Destined Death

There was no specific method of demise for someone cursed by Destined Death, meaning Erin’s end could come in countless ways. She could be killed by another person, slain by an Abyssal Demon, assimilated by a Curse Source, struck by a meteor, or even killed by the shockwaves from a battle involving a Crowned King…
Or, in the most painful, miserable, and unsightly way imaginable, she could die from the decay of her own Soul and the withering of her body.
Just like what was happening now.
Seeing the grave, complex expression on Zhou Chen’s face, a wave of glee washed over Li Xiaoxiao. Still, she couldn’t help but feel it was a pity. ‘If only there were more despair and pain, more frustration and indignation… how wonderful would that be?’
“Zhou… Chen…” Erin’s face was pale. She went limp as if all her Power had been drained in an instant, and Zhou Chen caught her just in time, holding her in his arms.
Erin gasped weakly. The heat from her Soul and body was rapidly draining away. Her entire body grew cold and stiff, her consciousness began to fade, and more and more black smoke emanated from her.
Like a pure flower tainted by a deadly poison, she began to wither and wilt.
A solemn, sorrowful, and ethereal melody spread through the Darkness, falling like raindrops, a lament for her fate.
“Don’t worry about me… Just go… I’m begging you…” Erin murmured with the last of her strength. She knew her fate all too well. Zhou Chen had a much brighter future; he shouldn’t throw it all away for someone who was doomed to die.
“I came here to save you. Now that I’ve made up my mind, there’s no way I’m giving up halfway. Don’t you dare fall asleep. I will get you out of this,” Zhou Chen said, gripping her hand tightly. In his heart, he wished for the Curse’s flare-up to be suppressed.
But the Wishing Star Seed remained unresponsive. No matter how small a wish he made, this Power refused to descend upon Erin. He then tried to use the Cyan Flame to suppress the Curse, but the flame that had always worked wonders was instantly extinguished upon contact with the black smoke. Even the Holy Emblem was unable to achieve Purification against the Power of the Curse…
“Stop your futile attempts. This is her destined death, an ending that no Power can alter.”
Li Xiaoxiao scoffed. “Zhou Chen, do you see yourself as some kind of hero, here to play out a grand scene of saving the damsel in distress?
Wrong. In the end, you can’t save anyone!
You can only watch helplessly as she dies right in front of you… You’re just a Tier One Ascender. You’re not actually fantasizing about defying fate, are you? Don’t tell me you still haven’t grasped reality?”
A mocking smile spread across Li Xiaoxiao’s face. The calmer Zhou Chen’s Anger seemed, the happier she became, as if savoring the thrill of her revenge.
Zhou Chen gently helped Erin lie down to rest. He pulled out Sand Shadow, aimed at Li Xiaoxiao, and pulled the trigger. He remembered the King of Music’s words—’If you get the chance, try to master that thing. A miracle might just happen.’
However, the incandescent white bullet condensed from Essence halted three meters from Li Xiaoxiao before being incinerated into nothingness by Chaos Fire that flared up out of thin air.
‘As the high priestess presiding over a sacrificial ritual, how could she not have protective measures?’ Any Tier One Ascender who dared get close would be burned to ash by the Chaos Fire.
In fact, getting close wasn’t even necessary…
“Since you two are so close, I’ll send you both to Hell together!”
Li Xiaoxiao’s expression turned cold and cruel, flames raging within her pitch-black eyes. A slender Devil Vine erupted from the ground and shot toward him like a bolt of lightning. Zhou Chen only had time to dodge to the side before he felt a searing pain as his waist was pierced through.
VMMMM!
The Bloodthirsty Chainsaw roared, severing the Devil Vine. The Holy Emblem’s Purification Ability caused the vine to burst into flame, burning to ash in the blink of an eye. A bloody hole had been torn through Zhou Chen’s waist, the flesh around it becoming a mangled, burned mess.
More Devil Vines shot out like a writhing mass of demonic tentacles. Zhou Chen put on the Blindfolded Sunglasses to enhance his perception, weaving and dodging between the countless piercing vines. The flaming chainsaw carved sharp, fiery arcs through the air, and wherever it passed, the vines were severed and set alight.
The Devil Vines writhed in pain, shaking off the pale flames, but they soon began to twist even more frantically before dropping to the ground like dead snakes with a series of thuds, then lay still.
Zhou Chen gripped the Bloodthirsty Chainsaw tightly, wary of Li Xiaoxiao’s every move.
‘She has to maintain the stable operation of the Summoning Secret Ceremony while also using part of her Power to hold back the Cursed Black Sea. Even under all that strain, Li Xiaoxiao still has enough energy to attack…’
‘So going full villain really does make you stronger, huh?’
SHIIING!
Just then, the clear, powerful ring of a blade echoed from deep within the distant Cursed Black Sea.
A piercing crimson streak of light, forming the sharp silhouette of a crescent moon, tore through the viscous Curse and calamity. It cleanly shredded the Cursed Undead in its path to pieces, carving a path of utter destruction as it went.
It crossed the vast distance, filled with vicious killing intent, and slashed toward Li Xiaoxiao.
CRACK.
The crimson blade-light flashed through the air and vanished. It was as if something invisible had just shattered.
Li Xiaoxiao’s eyes widened in stunned disbelief. The next moment, blood sprayed from her body. A shocking gash appeared on her back, piercing through her clothes, skin, flesh, bones, and even her internal organs, nearly cleaving her in two!
If the Guardian Barrier hadn’t blocked most of the Power behind the attack, that single strike would have been enough to take her life.
The Guardian Barrier, invisible to the naked eye, was now fractured like a broken mirror. It creaked under the overwhelming strain before, with a final BANG, it shattered completely into dust.
