Lord of Prayer - Chapter 89: Launch Announcement (All Eyes on Me)

Chapter 89: Launch Announcement (All Eyes on Me)
Alright everyone, all eyes on me! Look here, look at me! I have an announcement to make—
I’m going premium!
Today is a great day for me. The *Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak* DLC came out, it’s Crazy Thursday, and this book is going premium (though technically it’s in the early hours of July 1st).
To be honest, when I first started this book, I was really just writing it for my own enjoyment. After all, I’ve been writing on and off for so many years that if I go too long without putting something down on paper, I start to feel empty and lonely. So, I decided to start a book just to kill time.
But I never expected so many people would actually read it. I just asked my editor today, and the number of readers following the latest Chapter within 24 hours is nearly six hundred and fifty. It’s incredible! That’s a better performance than several books I’ve poured my heart into in the past.
Of course, that’s not to say I haven’t put my heart into this book. I’m writing it very seriously. Sometimes I’ll agonize over a single sentence, editing and deleting, deleting and editing. Other times, I just can’t squeeze out a single line for half the day, getting stuck for several hours.
This has caused my writing speed to slow down drastically. On top of that, I don’t have much time to write in the first place, so my daily update times are straight out of the Underworld.
The only reason today’s final free Chapter was posted early was because I specifically took a day off work to stay home and build a Chapter stockpile. But I kept getting writer’s block, and in the end, I only managed to finish that one Chapter. Now, my stockpile for the premium launch is zero…
However, I believe that under immense pressure, a person can unleash their hidden potential!
Such is the price of being a writer. If you don’t write, life feels empty, like something is missing, and it’s unbearable. But if you *do* write, you’re plunged into endless torment. The first thought when you open your eyes every morning is about the thousands of words you have to churn out for the daily update, followed by the cascade of problems that ensues…
Nothing to be done.
The reason I’m able to persevere, aside from some unrealistic, far-fetched dream of becoming famous, is my chuunibyou-esque love for all kinds of stories. For instance, there’s the one sentence that gave me the urge to write and established the entire tone for this book:
—The divine Giant passes on the light amid the setting sun; the human Knight resists fate in the torrential rain.
It might be super chuuni, but it makes my imagination run wild—it’s just so fucking cool.
I also wanted to write a story about passing on hope, creating miracles, and resisting fate.
Of course, the story so far is completely unrelated to that theme. According to my plan, I’ll start getting into it around the Late Stage of Volume 1. Whether or not I can pull it off remains to be seen. After all, my writing Ability is limited, and I’m just a hack, but I will certainly strive to do it justice.
Thank you all for your constant support and encouragement. And a special thanks to the readers who have tipped and voted with their monthly tickets.
This book will be going premium in the early morning hours. Please subscribe and show your support! I’m writing as we speak, trying my best to get two Chapters out.
I know every industry is an insane rat race these days. Pumping out 10,000 or even 20,000 words a day has become the norm for authors, but I’m doing this part-time. Well… any readers with a day job will probably understand what I’m going through.
Plus, I’m a slow writer to begin with. My limited time means I’m destined to not be able to write an unlimited number of words. So, after the book goes premium, updates will likely fluctuate between 4,000 and 6,000 words.
Finally, thank you all so much for your support!
Please get that first subscription in!
