Lord of Prayer - Chapter 96 - 84: The Big One Is Really Here

Chapter 96: Chapter 84: The Big One Is Really Here
It wasn’t just Zhou Chen.
Jiang Che, watching the screen, was also stunned. A rare look of shock and astonishment filled her eyes.
She had always considered that object to be of great importance—after all, even a mysterious, hidden organization like Fallen Paradise had gotten involved. But she had never imagined that it was something the King of Chaos himself had specifically requested…
’Something befitting an Abyssal King… Is it an “Authority” or a “relic of the Gods”? Or perhaps some unknown, peerless Treasure?’
Anything connected to an entity of that level could not possibly be an ordinary item.
Exhaling, Jiang Che quickly regained her composure and issued a command to the covert ops team hidden near the manor:
“Delay the operation by twenty minutes.”
She wanted to hear the end of this meeting.
In the meeting room.
Zhou Chen snapped out of his shock from the sheer volume of information and couldn’t help but ask:
“Something that My Lord requires?”
“Yes.” Li Xiaoxiao nodded. “When we first received this divine oracle, we also found it hard to believe that Jinzhu could possess something Our Lord needs.”
“What is it?” Zhou Chen asked instinctively.
“To be honest, we don’t know either.” Birdman interjected with a shrug.
Since Zhou Chen was now a core Steward, Birdman didn’t hide much:
“One day, the Grand Steward suddenly summoned us. He said Our Lord had issued a divine oracle, telling us to find an item and offer it to Him.”
“We followed the clues in the oracle, investigating one by one. Eventually, we traced the item to the ’Xi Feng’ smuggling ring. We contacted our undercover members within Xi Feng and had them use their positions to move most of the cargo out of their warehouse so we could find it.”
“We eventually found it. It was a stone box covered in ancient patterns. The strange thing was, the box wasn’t on any of the smuggled goods’ manifests…”
Birdman continued, “The box was protected by many layers of seals. We thought that if we just broke the seals, we could open it and get what was inside. But after we cracked them, an enormous, tangible torrent of Curses poured out. We had no choice but to find a way to seal it up again…”
“So, in truth, we still don’t know what the item actually is.”
’A massive outpouring of Curses… isn’t that exactly like the source of contamination that erupted on the cargo ship? Curses… Could it be an Abyssal Cursed Object inside?’ Zhou Chen nodded, not saying anything more, and adopted an expression of attentive listening.
Ghost Wolf, who had a youthful face, spoke up. “The Curse within the box is too immense. The seal we placed on it isn’t stable. For instance, the seal failed this time, causing a huge disturbance. I propose we prepare a Secret Ceremony first, one that can stably contain the Curse before we make a move.”
“We’re out of time.” An old man with graying hair shook his head. “The Star Association has recently intensified their inspections by land, sea, and air. It will only get stricter in the coming days. What’s more, they’re still hunting us. Any delay could lead to disaster.”
“Then our only choice is to wait for something to happen to Fu Qing. Once he falls, Jinzhu’s shipping operations will surely fall into chaos. That will be the perfect time to fish in troubled waters,” Birdman said.
“Who knows if something will happen to Fu Qing before the Star Association finds us.”
The sexy, mature beauty, Poisonous Spider, spoke, her voice tingling and invisibly plucking at one’s heartstrings. “I propose we use shipping again. This time, we’ll apply a few more Secret Ceremonies… I just got my hooks into an Alchemist a few days ago, and I’ve previously seduced two customs officers. We can have them pull some strings this time. Afterward, we just find a chance to kill them to tie up loose ends.”
“…”
The group discussed for a long time before finally deciding to go with Poisonous Spider’s plan. She would seduce the Alchemist and control him to set up a Sealing Secret Ceremony. Then, she would approach the two customs officers to have them rig the inspection.
“Where is the item now?” Ghost Wolf looked at Li Xiaoxiao. He was the one who had brought it back from the ship and handed it over to her.
“I’ve hidden it. I’ll bring it out when it’s time for the operation,” Li Xiaoxiao said.
’The item is hidden, and only Li Xiaoxiao knows where…’ Before Zhou Chen could even speak on the communication channel, Jiang Che’s voice sounded in his ear:
“Move in five minutes. Capture Li Xiaoxiao alive, no matter what.”
She was giving the order to both Zhou Chen and the strike team simultaneously.
After finalizing the main plan, the Stewards worked out the execution time and various other details.
Soon, five minutes had passed.
Far away, in the Star Association’s secret operations room, Jiang Che calmly issued the command:
“Begin the operation.”
And so, in the Dark Jungle near Blue Diamond Manor, pairs of crimson eyes, like those of phantoms, lit up.
「At the same time.」
Above the Eternal Commerce Mansion, seven attack helicopters circled, drawing the gazes of countless onlookers.
Armored vehicles rolled in from the end of the road as heavily armed Operators leaped out. Their tasks were clearly divided: some evacuated the crowd, some set up a security perimeter, and others established a Barrier. All tasks were carried out in an orderly fashion.
On the top floor of the mansion, Fu Qing’s expression was grim. He stared at the feed on his monitor, unable to understand why that woman dared to make a direct move on him.
’I’m the head of Southern Shipping, a branch president of the Eternal Commerce Association… How does that woman dare?’
“Boss, we have to run! It’s an elite squad from the Raven Legion!”
His Secretary burst through the door in a panic, her face pale with fright. “The Star Association must have known something all along! If we don’t leave now, it’ll be too late!”
“The Raven Legion?” Fu Qing’s heart sank. Immediately after, the lights in the room suddenly went out. The entire building’s power was cut, plunging it into a pitch-black Darkness that was so thick you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Amid the explosions, fire and thick smoke billowed up. Rockets launched from the attack helicopters slammed into the Eternal Commerce Mansion but were blocked by a massive Alchemy Matrix enveloping the entire building.
Under the saturation bombing, cracks appeared across the Defense Array, pushing it to the brink of collapse. To make matters worse, the Star Association had also dispatched Alchemists!
Fu Qing’s eyes were bloodshot. He gritted his teeth and roared, his voice nearly breaking with anguish, “Go!”
Knowing all was lost, he chose to flee.
·
Near Blue Diamond Manor.
Dozens of figures silently approached the villa, like a moving shadow.
They carried firearms and wore high-tech, matte-black Alchemy Armor. The left arm of the armor bore the insignia of a black Raven, and their heads were covered by fully enclosed helmets. Only their eyes glowed with two startling points of crimson light—the signature feature of the Raven Legion.
“Ms. Jiang, final confirmation. According to intel, your subordinate is inside the manor. Are we clear to open fire?” the squad leader asked for the last time.
“Clear to open fire,” Jiang Che replied calmly.
A kilometer away, the launch container on a missile truck was already raised. At the command, booster flames erupted from the tail. Rockets tore through the air like Steel Arrows, tracing an arc across the sky as they fell toward Blue Diamond Manor!
The artillery roared.
Like a grand fireworks display.
The real show had begun.
