Taddeus takes a breath before continuing saying. He seems to be bolstered looking at his junior pirates looking at him and listening to him
“This sudden care about morals had something to do with rebuilding order”
“Beast should not live among civilized people. When a beast lives among the people, either the people get eaten, or they become beast themselves. It is not conducive to an order that wanted to rebuild peace in the world after constat war and battle”
Taddeus halted for a moment and then said
“Out of all the world powers, World Government and the Republic care most about reputation. This is different from when they were established where they would use any talent available. As their influence settled, they needed to win the hearts of the people. And he would make an example out of an evil man to win great reputation of virtue.”
“In the past, technology sometimes render appeasing the people as not as important task for rulers”
“Many things could be done that violates people right because the people give technology to the ruling power and the ruling power would only think of oppressing the people. Money was created so that a gap could be created. As long as there is a gap, the ruling elite could continue to rule. And even though there are people who awakened to the truth, there are many more that is sleeping and would let money enslave them. The ruling elite has no lack of enslaved people. “A world power that has a hundred Disk Formation levelers does not have to worry about a world power that only have fifty Disk Formation leveler. It is like having a hundred nuclear warheads, ready to be deployed”
“People in this era is the most powerful weapon and the most powerful capital”
“The words, “Win the people heart and win the world” could be applied here”
He paused for a moment and then take another ship of his drinks and shakes his head.
Then he sighed
“Our captain is a wise captain. All of those rules he gave us might restrain us, but it is also a safeguard for us”
“If one day, we fall in the hands of the world powers, or any of those organizations that uphold order in this new world, we have something to bargained with and our reputation would not repel them”
Azief hearing Taddeus spoke could not help but raise their eyebrows. This kind of pirate is rare. He knows his position and is cautious. He leaves a way to survive.
And he also knows how to analyze the world.
The captain that could have such rules and knowledge is also a talent
“If we find ourselves unable to survive, we could just surrender to any world powers. But if you join the Crime Alliance-”
Taddeus let his words linger and the other pirates sighed and nodded
Then one of them snorted
“Hah. You surrender? Would any world power wanted your small ship?” the burly amn blushed a bit.
“I am experienced. And I sailed most of the forbidden seas. I even sailed the Blood Seas. Survived a haunting experience there”
A thin pirate from the same crew laughed
“That same story again. How many times would you share that story? Come to think of it, there is no witness to your story. I’m sick and tired of hearing you brag about it”
And then that skinny man laughed and the other follows
Azief eyes narrow and then he pays tension to a different person. Talking in the secluded corner, covered with privacy spells.
Even a Disk Formation realm leveler could not pass this privacy spell and hear what they are saying.
But these formations and spells, is elementary in Azief eyes.
After all, he had seen the formation of the Etherna and spells that originated from Etherna hands.
So, this spell is nothing but elementary in Azief eyes.
Maybe the world needs to level up more before the privacy of the people could truly be hindered from any levelers.
But for now, Azief could easily hear what they are talking about
“The civil war in Pandemonium is getting worse. All over the continent, there is all kinds of people rising up. Warlords rise all over. Some supported Wang Jian, some supported Sasha”
“They are rebelling?”
One of the people on the table shakes his head
“No one is rebelling. Who dares?”
“Most people by now have known that Sasha only holds a clone. The real Death Monarch must be somewhere else. Death Monarch is still alive”
“And as long as he is still alive, even though there are some ambitious people in Pandemonium, they would not dare to really rebel. They could only support who they think is right”
There was silence for a second and then one of them said
“I heard something from one of the Doc in the ship”
“What did you hear?”
“The aftermath of that prison breakout”
“Ah, the Order of Thinkers?”
The pirate nodded
“Heard that many of the high-ranking member of the Order of Thinkers nowadays is hiding.”
Taddeus nodded.
“Who wouldn’t after such a big thing happened” Some of them chirp
Taddeus sighed.
“There is no warrant out yet for them. They are a bit preoccupied. But when the matter is settled, the world powers would not let this go”
“Antarctica is their base. No matter how they hide, they would return there.”
“You think they were the ones that break out Helva from their imprisonment?”
“Heard some of them are people we knew”
“Shush. There is no need to publicize it”
Taddeus shook his head.
“There are seven world powers. Order of Thinkers is the weakest among them all. Their research is more of a way to address that weakness. It is just that the way they are going about it touches the bottom line of many people”
“Hirate…. You could say a lot of things about him. He is power hungry, greedy, two face and there are many things that could be said about his vice”
“But he was with the Resistance during the occupation of Weronian. And he was sincere. If there are things that could change any man, that war would be it”
“The inhumanity of it all changes a lot of people that watch that atrocity happening. Even an evil man would become a saint compared to what happened. Those Weronians were not conquerors. They were torturers”
He sighed for a moment, and the other pirates also became somber.
Azief could tell that all of these pirates have survived a lot.
Azief narrows his eyes, and he could see the tangled lines of cause and effect.
If he wanted to, he could pull one of the tangled lines and see the cause and effect of this person’s life.
But he did not need to see it to know that these people probably also survived the Weronian Occupation.
Funnily enough, Azief had woken up during that time.
He did one action that changed that war.
But he himself has not seen the occupation.
He was not there during the occupation of the Weronian
And his act of killing one of the high-ranking members of the Weronian had broken the back of the Weronian military action and prompted the Resistance at that time to mount a counterattack and expel the Weronian from Earth
Azief did heard that there is some Weronian still on Earth…in hiding.
Azief could only sigh when he thinks of this as he continues listening to Taddeus.
He still did not know why his premonition led him to Taddeus.
But until he found that feeling of wanting to leave, he would listen.
And it seems Taddeus, this talkative pirate has a lot of things to say.
“Many humans saw what the Weronian did. Human experimentation is allowed under the current order of the World Powers.”
“But…. only under strict supervision and it must be informed and all of it must be done aboveboard”
“It is strict and it is heavily regulated by Hirate. Yes, Hirate himself was the one supervising this matter. And he made sure that the regulation is the strictest way possible. Any lax on the supervisor would be punished heavily. This is something personal for Hirate. No one knows why but it clearly struck a chord with Hirate”
“My guess…. something happened during the war. He might have lost someone to experimentation. Or he lost his comrades. Who knows?”
“But something clearly happened to him that he truly hated anyone that do human experimentation. The stance of the other world powers is the same. They believe no humans should be subjected to such suffering. Hence the struct regulations, the consent of all parties involved, and the risk and benefit all laid out transparently. Any lying and any fraud would be punished”
The other pirates nodded
