Chapter 1973: River Keeper

The tavern door keeps opening and closing and there is a steady stream of traffic all over the island.

A lot of people have been coming to this island since the news broke.

There are bands of warriors, bands of thieves, assassins, bounty hunters and all kinds of imaginable bands of people who would come where there are people

And all over this packed city, the jewel of the sea, this traffic is nothing but ordinary. And with these many people, something is bound to happen.

Rafah glances at the opening occasionally, seeing if it is someone he recognizes. And when he does not see anyone, he knows he goes back to contemplating his next move.

This time, he needs to make sure that some of the plans he makes should not get halted.

“Now that Loki is a part of the Crime Alliance and can maneuver among the crime lords and dark lords in the criminal underworld, his ability has become even more pronounced. Before when he was in Pandemonium, there were a lot of methods he could not use. Because he was part of the so-called righteous alliance. Now, he shed that title, there is even more method he could use.”

Whether it is really a righteous alliance or not, the world powers are seen as a legitimate regime compared to the many other forces in the world.

“And…. The God of Death has known his destiny. Everything went to shit!” there is anger in his voice.

But no one could hear him. He is seated on one of the private seats. The more he thinks about it, the more he felt that he is screwed.

There are some things he had just been made aware of. And knowing this did not make him feel at ease. He just knows that he is more screwed now than he is.

Who would have thought that Azief would meet Wargod?

He knows that Will would have met with Wargod.

Will fate, that speedster fate had changed a lot.

In the original timeline, he was never a sworn brother of Azief. From the moment they swore brotherhood, something changed.

And their fates intertwined. Whether a real brother or a sworn brother, oaths have a power of intertwining cause and effect

These two already have great causes and effects even before they met each other. Will pursue the path of the ancient Speedster.

In the world right now, it is not like Will is the only Speedster.

There are other speedsters.

But each time one spoke about a speedster, everyone would think of Will.

Why?

Is it simply because he is famous?

No, it is because among all of the Speedster, he masters all of the things that made Speedster formidable.

Speed is only one of the abilities of Speedster.

There is only a few Speedsters in the world that could run so fast, it breaks the fabric of reality and changes time and space.

His speed alone made his physical attack powerful.

With the kinetic energy and the momentum, he could gather, once he is serious about killing someone, unless that person mastered the laws and rules of the world, the only result of fighting Will is death.

It is one reason why when the powerhouses of the world fight speedsters, unless it is Wil, they would not feel so wary.

Will causes and effects are none other because of Asargan.

The Etherna of Momentum.

Wargod have the piece of the Temple of Asargan.

So sooner or later, the path between the two would intersect as long as Will follows the ancient path of Speedster.

This is something Rafah had expected. What he did not expect that Wargod would use this opening to induce someone outside of this cause and effect to involve Azief.

And so, a meeting that should not have happened…. happened.

And things that should not be said are said.

From the moment he notices a great ripple in time and space that seems to transcend through dimensional lines, Rafah knows

Wargod talks. And he talks about things he should have talked about. Things that mortal should not know about

Azief might be the God of Death in the future but right now he is still quite mortal. And he should not have known his fate and destiny

This is an attempt to subvert and test the line by Wargod. Wargod did not need to tell everything.

A few hints here and there and Rafah is confident that Azief would be able to tell what the future holds for him.

And then to cap it all off, some vision enters his mind, and he knows this is His Lord way of telling him what happened

And this vision is about a finger. And the movement from the other side of the river. Not any river. But “that” river.

“Is the River Master on my Lord side?” This is something Yewa Hafar suddenly had to ask himself.

Or is this just Him maintaining order? Then Rafah shook his head. The River master did not side with anyone. If He does side with anyone, then that is really unfair.

And the One would not allow that. Since He had promised Rafah lord that it would be fair, then it would be fair.

As for who or what is the River Master?

Only a few people know of His existence.

And some people wonder whether He is part of the One or whether He is an original identity, a byproduct of the One creating Time and Space

And those who have such questions could not really go to the One and ask the question

Whatever the case, it is true that when Azief is about to come home and uses the Time and Space tunnel, the River Master grabs his hand through the river of time and seems to attack Azief.

But is it really an attack?

Is He grabbing Azief trying to bring him to the side of that river to talk?

Or did He want to annihilate that mortal? Or maybe He has his own plans? Each time Rafah thinks about it He could not understand it.

Though, the simplest explanation would be that Wargod and Odin spoke too much and disturbed the River of Time.

That would surely incur some kind of displeasure by the River Master.

Maybe the River Master really wanted to kill that mortal. Or maybe He just wanted to give a warning.

But that is unusual in itself.

The River Master did not do anything at that time during His Lord victory. He did not do anything even as everything seemed to fade away. In a way, maybe His Lord and the River Master had some kind of complementary objective.

At that time did not even show his face, from beginning to end.

Hence, Rafah had never included the River Master in the calculations because He was never in the cause and effect of this matter.

And truthfully, the River Master is a being that could even contend with the Creator and His Lord

He controls what gives meaning to this Omniverse. The River of Time itself.

The River Keeper. The River Master. The Highest Lord of Time.

He has many names and some people have met Him. Though, they never understood the true existence that they met.

The River Keeper himself rarely makes a move.

The last time he did make any significant moves was during the Etherna War.

Other than that, He is just around that River, plugging holes, making sure that the river doesn’t flood to the riverbank and cut off corrupted tributaries rivers that would corrupt the main river.

That being make a move.

And since that being rarely speaks, who knows whether what He did is helping Azief or helping his lord. Rafah is now conflicted about what to do.

Everything has gone awry.

The memories he has of the deleted timeline are slowly becoming blurry.

Of course, if he wanted to remember he still has the method to reinforce the memories of that deleted timeline

But the fact that he is like this means that the future is changing.

So, remembering it did not help much when the future is changing

And changing in a big way.

People that should be enemies might not be enemies, people that should be allies might not be allies. And certain events in the future that have been foretold might not happen.

“This mortal is really troublesome”

if Azief is just another mortal, then killing him would solve all of the problem.

But the problem is, this person must be alive.

“Katarina is coming here and there isa trace of that oracle aura on her. There is cause and effect of that Oracle. Then, it must be something about the future. Is the Oracle against us?” Rafah sighed

Rafah did not yet know what kind of things the Oracle could see but after some while he could guess something.

That oracle knows more than she lets on.

And this kind of thing should not be left alone.

The more it is like this, the more he needs to investigate. Rafah has learned to use the people of this world

He himself has a few pirate crews in the Ten Seas.

He is one of the warlords of the seas.

Though he uses a different alias.

He also has a few criminal gangs that he had established, and he uses a different alias for that.
