Chapter 165: Impossible odds (V)
“Stay back,” the woman warned, raising her hands. A green energy rippled out of her hand and slowly moving towards her fingers.
The dragon sniffed and understanding dawned on his face.
“Oh, Venom!” He almost sounded pleased. “With your looks… poison is not necessary.” It continued advancing, seemingly unbothered by the gathering energy. “Tell me, what’s your name?”
“Sera,” the woman said through gritted teeth. “My name is Sera. And I said stay back!”
The energy in her hand turned to two globes of dark green and then she released them.
The venomous balls of energy shot forward from her hand towards the dragon who walked unbothered by them. They hit him in the chest… but nothing happened.
He simply walked through the the resulting poisonous gas that could melt metal as if it was nothing more than mist.
He emerged out completely unharmed. “You’ll need to try harder than that.”
Sera stumbled backward, the green energy dying around her hands as terror overwhelmed her. “No… no, that’s impossible…”
“Nothing is impossible, darling.” The dragon closed the remaining distance in two quick strides. “Just improbable.”
It reached out and touched her… his taloned fingers brushing against her cheek with gentleness. Sera froze completely, emerald eyes wide with shock and fear.
“Such beautiful eyes,” the dragon murmured, thumb tracing along her jaw. The other hand came up, fingers running through her red hair. “Yes, you’ll do nicely.”
“Don’t… don’t touch me…” Sera whispered, tears beginning to leak from her eyes despite obvious effort to hold them back.
“But I already am touching you,” the dragon pointed out with amusement. “And you’re not stopping me. Because you can’t.” It leaned closer, inhaling deeply. “Fear has such a distinctive scent. Intoxicating I would say.”
Behind the dragon, the blonde youth took his chance. He raised his spear, and drove the weapon forward with every ounce of desperate strength.
The dragon’s tail shot sideways and the youths head was blown off with just one hit… the wall besides him was painted in red and white brain matter.
The dragon never stopped looking at Sera.
“So many pests trying to ruin my moment.” He said pleasantly, still stroking her hair.
Sera’s eyes were as wide as they could get… she was gasping from the shock of seeing a friend just die like that in front of her eyes.
His hand moved from her hair to her throat not squeezing it yet… just barely holding. A reminder of how easily he could end her life.
“Forget about them… stop resisting and,” It said deliberately. “In exchange, I’ll let you live. As my… guest. My companion or perhaps even my queen, if you prove entertaining enough.”
“I’d… rather… die…” Sera forced out, despite the hand at her throat.
The dragon tilted its head. “Would you? Would you really?” Its grip tightened fractionally. “Because from where I’m standing, you want to live very, very badly. I can see it in your eyes. That desperate clinging to existence.”
Sera didn’t couldn’t respond any more, tears now streaming freely down her face.
The dragon released her throat and stepped back and suddenly a wall of houses around him burst forward separating him from the girl.
At that moment, the blonde youth finally stopped twitching and his body went completely limp as death claimed him.
And the dragon’s body began to glow.
Something that seemed to come from within rather than being projected outward. The orb in its forehead pulsed once, twice, three times… each pulse sending waves of power rippling across its skin.
The dragon looked down at its own hands with something resembling surprise. “Ah,” it said softly. “It has finally broken.”
“What…” Filch whispered narrowing his eyes. “What just happened?”
The dragon flexed its fingers experimentally, then turned to corner of the street where Filch had appeared just recently. “A seal just broke. You see, when those bastards imprisoned me, they didn’t just lock me away. They bound my power with multiple seals in form of restriction designed to weaken me even if I escaped.”
It gestured at the corpse of the blonde youth. “But the seals have conditions that break them one by one. It seems.”
The dragon spread its four wings wide, and even that simple motion seemed more powerful than before “That was the first seal. Two more to get back to my full glory.”
The expression on Filch’s face darkened. “I would rather not see that happening.”
He crouched down slamming one of his hands on the ground and the other on the wall. The house had already been destroyed but the debris glowed brightly before breaking into small particles and then moving towards the dragon.
The white marble on the street did the same… the dragon felt that it was very similar to before and hence tried to fly away. But it was then that he noticed that his legs were bound to the ground.
Filch smiled and then vomited a lot of blood staining the marble. “You walked right into my trap…”
The dragon’s pupils narrowed slightly as he pulled his legs out… suddenly the place from where he had pulled his legs turned to spikes penetrating his legs.
He tried to fly but until then he was inside absolute darkness. He was trapped inside a sphere of two layers of rocks and metals.
“What a cheap trick.” he said trying to open his wings… but the sphere didn’t give him the chance.
The inner metallic layer of the sphere glowed with blinding blue light and then spikes… hundreds or maybe thousands of them shot forward from every single direction.
The dragon didn’t even get the chance to move before his whole body was penetrated by needle like spikes all over. His eyes… which were pierced too widened and he let out a shriek that echoed through the whole island.
Filch’s skill had a limitation… he could not create something out of nothing and he could not change the amount of matter.
When he redesigned things using his skill the mass of the matter would remain shape… what he changed was just the shape.
So… in order to overcome that he lured the dragon slowly to a place surrounded by whole buildings and as well as a lot of broken ones.
At first it seemed like it had worked but there was no notification from the system so it was evident that the dragon still lived.
Just as the thought flashed across Filch’s mind the sphere he had created cracked and then burst out into stone pieces.
A thick metal part flew at a very high speed and hit Filch’s abdomen hard… embedding into his stomach. His mind went blank as he looked ahead, swaying on his feet, vision blurring.
The dragon had turned into its true form and was now turning back into his human form… when he transformed completely he was covered in holes all over his body and the surface of the sphere was filled with a lake of golden ichor.
The dragon’s eyes were furious with anger. He looked at filch like a mad dog and rasped. “You… You bastard.”
His legs rapidly healed and then it moved with supernatural speed and the dragon’s fist struck Filch’s chest.
Ribs shattered completely. The lung collapsed entirely and Internal organs ruptured from the impact.
Filch’s body folded around the fist, then flew backward like a broken doll.
He crashed into rubble twenty meters away and didn’t move. Blood poured from his mouth in a steady stream. His hands twitched once, twice, then went still.
