Memory Reaper's Ascension - Chapter 202: Truth behind it all

Chapter 202: Truth behind it all
Ishiki opened his eyes and found himself peering into an endless expanse of broken and scorched earth.
He was once again back into his Soul Space.
He looked down at himself and found that this time he was not in the form of illusory blue energy. But rather his own solid form.
’So this place remembers how I shaped myself the last time.’
It was a new discovery. But he was not here to waste time… he simply walked towards the five Illusory figures that were bound with chains to the earth.
A young girl, with a petite body and a pretty, innocent face had joined the ranks of other souls.
Every step Ishiki took towards them was a stab to his heart. His stomach felt very wrong and his eyes started to water. This was the innocent girl who had never even injured anyone.
With a heavy heart, he stopped near the figures and sighed.
He was here to take another thing from her. But first he looked at her chained consciousness, as if she were some kind of criminal… he could not help but let the tears roll down.
For a long moment he was silent and following his mood the skies had turned dark as well.
But he steadied himself before it could rain and focused on her soul. A window materialized in front of him.

Ishiki was stunned for a second… it was a legendary skill. Even more rarer than his Ghost Blade.
But he didn’t waste much time and simply focused on it to mimic it and another window materialized in front of him.
[Do you Wish to Mimic-[Universal Translate (Legendary)] ]
[Cost – 30 Spiritual Fragments]
Without thinking Ishiki said ’yes’.
Suddenly the blue energy that formed his body… broke and then swirled around Nina’s soul.
It took a few strands from her consciousness and mixed it within itself. Then it joined back into Ishiki’s Spiritual body.
[You have Received a Skill]
Ishiki looked at it in confusion for a long moment and didn’t show any expression. It was simple… but it was kind of an exhilarating experience as it was his first time mimicking a skill.
’Now that I have gotten it… time to go back and find out the truth.
’
Before leaving he gave Nina’s soul a final look and smiled.
“I don’t know if you can hear me,” Ishiki said quietly “Don’t worry… No matter how. But I will free your soul from these bounds.”
With that said he willed himself out and his spiritual body dissipated and he opened his eyes back in his physical body. The experience was as always surreal.
Now that he was back. Ishiki took a few deep breaths to calm himself down and looked at the Demigod’s corpse at the center.
He slowly walked towards it and stopped over it. “It is the least I can do for you.”
He raised the purple flamed Jian and slowly stabbed all the parts of the Demigod’s rotted body.
Ishiki watched in silence as Sorrow’s Edge consumed every trace of the warrior who had been forgotten by history. The body… the blood. Even the golden stains that had baptized the floor’s carved symbols.
All of it disappeared into purple flames that burned without destroying, that released without pain.
When it was done—when nothing remained except clean stone, the purple flames retreated back into the Jian.
The chamber felt emptier somehow. As if a presence that had occupied this space for millennia had finally departed, leaving behind a vacuum that would never be filled.
Ishiki stood there for a long moment, Sorrow’s Edge held loosely in his hand. Then he closed his eyes and spoke a prayer.
“May you find peace in whatever lies beyond,” Ishiki murmured.
Then after a pause he added in a silent note. “Your Scenario is Complete!”
Suddenly he heard a faint sound of something huge falling down and felt faint vibrations in the ground.
But he could not tell what it was. As he could not see or hear anything that was going on outside of this chamber.
For something to cause such massive sound and vibrations… it must be dangerous.
’There is not much time to waste…’ Ishiki clenched his fists and walked to the walls.
He started from the tunnel that he believed was the entrance to this place. For any sane thing… it would always start from here that much was common sense.
But nothing was certain and he soon find out that it was all jumbled up.
But for each line he read… Ishiki felt as if he was getting closer and closer to something that might be the truth of Aethelburg’s history.
After searching through all of these scribbles and meaningless texts. Ishiki finally found the starting of it all.
He raised the Jian and studied the drawing that was shaped like a human figure floating in the middle of nowhere. Below it… there were five other figures looking up at the being.
Beneath the floating figure was a text that meant – “The Great Old One.”
Ishiki’s breath got caught in his throat.
’The Great old one? The same one mentioned in the texts and history as a very powerful figure? ’
With barely contained excitement and dread he continued. There was no text written beneath the five figures who were looking up at the great old one.
In the next image… The Great Old one was gone. And instead the five figures now had body parts that were marked specially.
One of them had two burning eyes.
Another one had legs that crushed mountains.
The third one had hands that could turn anything to dust with a flick.
Another one had a stomach that could eat anything and gain power from it.
The last one had a hallow behind his head. Behind it a text wrote – Divine Knowledge.
Then there was a line that meant.
“The God is bound to his Believers. Fulfilling Wishes that bring upon Doom.”
