- Chapter 1476 - 1476: Myriad Prodigies: Heading Underground

“…Here we are.”
Under the veil of the night, both Valyr and Ataraxia stood in front of a narrow stairwell, their expressions solemn as they briefly thought about the things they did just hours earlier.
After confirming the issue with their skills and saving the same problem for their titles at a later time, the two decided to spend a bit of time familiarizing themselves with their copies of the skill.
With that, Valyr went ahead and dispelled the barrier surrounding them, especially since it was the most inconspicuous thing one would find within a secluded alley.
At the same time, the two went ahead and activated their stealth skills, immediately sensing their presences wane as they began to walk through the filled streets of the kingdom.
Making sure to not bump into any person along the way, the two gradually got more and more used to the effects of the skill, causing a slight smile to appear on their faces the moment they confirmed no one looked at them even once.
Feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation after discovering that their stealth skills were greatly effective, Valyr and Ataraxia eventually decided to take their practice up a slight notch, heading towards the various class guilds filled more with people than the streets.
Unsurprisingly, their attempts at getting noticed by others there all failed, which only made the smiles on both their faces become even wider. After all, the fact that they could enter even the crowded halls of class guilds unnoticed meant that their skills were far more effective than they initially thought.
Then again, with a bit of thinking, the two quickly understood why that was the case.
For one, both of them upgraded their skills as far as their current class ranks could allow. Aside from that, they both had insanely high perception for their level, as well as shared a disgustingly strong level of mental strength.
With those three aspects working together, the two were confident that they would probably be able to enter the more private parts of the kingdom without any issues.
However, they easily came to the conclusion that they wouldn’t be able to do the same thing once they decided to head to the most important areas the kingdom had to offer.
After all, with the existence of stealth skills, then it only made that skills that uncovered stealth would also exist.
Nevertheless, once they were done confirming the strength of their stealth once activated, the two went ahead and asked Lunarossa for updates on Erika’s whereabouts.
At the same time, they began to come up with a plan of action on how they’d fulfill the director’s request, agreeing that the best time for them to do so was under the veil of the night.
Coincidentally, the information Lunarossa shared with them pointed towards that idea being correct, especially once she told them that Erika was last seen recruiting more participants towards the third underground floor.
With that, the two decided to wait until night came, heading back to the amphitheater whilst the tournament director updated them every once in a while.
At some point, Lunarossa informed them that Erika headed down to the third underground floor for the last time, which the two immediately took as a sign for them to make their move.
Making sure that the recording crystal was with them, the two set off towards the path that led them down the lower underground floors, activating their respective stealth skills before doing so.
‘…You ready?’ Valyr asked Ataraxia through their shared thoughts.
The latter let out a faint sigh in response. ‘…As ready as I’ll ever be.’
Taking in a deep breath to calm their nerves, the two soon made their way down the narrow stairwell, naturally utilizing the presence reduction their stealth skill offered to arrive at the second underground floor without much issues.
Briefly glancing at the amphitheater staff do maintenance on the various constructs on the floor they arrived at, Valyr and Ataraxia looked at the constructs with slight admiration as they slowly made their way to the stairwell they needed to enter.
‘…You’ve got the recording crystal, right?’
Looking around to see if their presence was caught by any of the amphitheater’s maintenance workers, Valyr eventually asked this question to Ataraxia, who took out the crystal Lunarossa gave them in return.
‘Of course,’ replied the latter. ‘You think I should store it in the spatial bracelet and take it out once we’re there? Or should I hold on to it and we move down as is?’
‘Hold on to it,’ answered Valyr almost instantly. ‘We might give our presence away if we went with the first one.’
Nodding in return, Ataraxia took in a deep breath one last time to calm down his nerves as much as possible.
Gazing at the stairwell they’d be entering, Valyr could not help but let out a long exhale to compose himself, feeling a bit nervous at being unable to fulfill the request given to them.
Nevertheless, with the assurance their stats and their skills gave them, the two eventually made their way down the stairwell, arriving at the third underground floor a couple minutes later.
“Ahh…!!!”
Just as the two looked around the floor to get an idea of where was which, the two heard a scream come from the far end of the underground floor all of a sudden.
With their expressions turning grim, Valyr and Ataraxia looked at each other before nodding in understanding, knowing that part of the request given to them was to rescue the people Erika invited from becoming a part of the ritual.
Bringing up the layout of the third underground floor Lunarossa shared with them in their minds, the two slightly hastened their paces as they continued to hear more and more screams from that same section of the floor.
However, once they arrived at the place where the screams were coming from, rather than be greeted by the sight of blood and gore…
The two were greeted by the sight of something more… salacious.
