MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1524 - 1524: Tackling The Main Plan

“Huh…?”
Hearing the question, Valyr immediately looked back at the man with confusion. “Didn’t you make a similar offer to me during the tournament?”
“I did.” Julian confirmed his suspicions. “However, the offer I made back then and the offer I’m making now are completely different things.”
Seeing Valyr raise his eyebrow in response, the man took it upon himself to explain. “Back then, I asked you if you’d be interested to work as an assistant for Byron, right?”
“Yeah.” Valyr nodded. “You said it was to help with forging special weapons for the empire.”
“The end goal is still the same,” clarified Julian. “You’d still be helping make special weapons for the empire.”
“But unlike before, where you’d be under Byron as one of his assistant, you’ll be in charge of forging one of the special weapons instead.”
“So that’s why you used the word ‘alongside’ earlier,” said Ataraxia after that, sitting down at his usual spot. “In other words, Teacher would be standing on the same level as Sir Byron.”
“Pretty much.” Julian confirmed.
“Why the sudden change in mind, though?” Although Valyr now understood what Julian meant by his earlier words, the young man was still confused by the sudden offer.
“I mean…” At those words, Julian waved his arms around, gesturing the translucent copies that were still forging amidst their conversation.
“Well… I get that,” said the young man after giving it a bit of thought. “But how does that make it any different from what I’ve been doing with all the extra arms?”
“Generally speaking, there isn’t any difference between the two,” answered the man in return. “But if I were to come up with one…”
Just as he began to come up with a response that fit the instinctive feeling he got about the entire thing, Julian eventually noticed something about the copies that made his earlier offer more compelling.
With that in mind, his tone was laden with confidence as he spoke, “The level of attention you put.”
Valyr slightly frowned at those words. “What do you mean?”
“I’ve watched you forge a couple of times with the extra arms in the past,” said Julian, to which the young man faintly nodded in agreement.
“Back then, even though you were doing multiple things at the same time, which is impressive, I got the feeling that your attention was split into multiple parts almost constantly.”
“On the other hand, your current skill is continuing to work in the background while we’re talking about it,” he added. “Although I can’t be truly sure of my words… it’s as if your current skill has separated your mind from having to focus on the tasks they’re doing.”
“I guess you could say I feel like I’m watching 12 blacksmiths do their own thing rather than 12 copies of yourself working with the same goal in mind.”
“…I see.” Hearing those words, Valyr briefly fell into pensive thought, the gears in his mind turning as he mulled over the words Julian told him.
Eventually, the young man inwardly let out a slight sigh as he looked back at him. “If I were to accept, would the offer with Sir Byron be canceled?”
“That’s most likely going to be the case.” Julian wryly smiled in response. “However, if I tell him what you’ve shown me just now, then I’m pretty sure he won’t mind.”
“In fact, I’d even say he’d want to personally see your skill in action and figure out how it works on his own.”
Though he felt a bit flattered from the man’s sudden compliment, Valyr realized something he hadn’t taken into account ever since Julian made his first offer. “…Now that I think about it, are you the director behind the thing about the special weapons?”
“I’m not the director… even if my offers make it seem that way.” Julian could only let out a wry chuckle in response. “I’m pretty much on the same level as Byron, people tasked by the empire to work on the special weapons while the war is still ongoing.”
“Of course, as people recruited by the empire themselves, we have the authority to recruit and recommend other blacksmiths into the entire thing.”
“And you’re recommending me into it because of my skill?” asked Valyr at the end of it all.
“That and your mastery of forging.” Julian nodded without hesitation.
“Huh…” Faintly nodding at those words, the young man went silent for a bit more as a question popped up in mind. “Speaking of which, if I were to accept, how much time do I have here before I need to head to the empire?”
“Around the same time I gave you back in the previous offer,” replied Julian. “It’s been a while since the last offer, so I’d say… a couple more months, give or take.”
“Oh. I accept, then.”
With Valyr voicing his inclination towards the offer, the two continued to talk about the details of the new offer a bit more after that, specifically the task that would most likely be delegated to him by the time he arrived.
Eventually, Julian bade farewell to the two, leaving them off to their own devices once more.
“So… what now?” Faintly watching Valyr’s copies work on their respective materials, Ataraxia soon asked this question to the young man.
“What else?” The latter shrugged in response. “Since the quota’s done, we can now focus on completing our goals.”
“After all, isn’t that the reason why we’re here in the first place?”
“True.” Ataraxia nodded, standing up soon after before moving closer towards the copies.
“What are they doing?” He looked back at the young man, only for his eyes to slightly widen in surprise once he received a message from the latter through their shared thoughts.
“The components for your own version of the Half Wyvern Armor,” Valyr replied as he walked around to check the quality of his copies’ crafts.
“But of course, the choice of whether we upgrade my armor first or make your armor first still stands.”
“Well…” Glancing between Valyr and the copies for a bit, Ataraxia did not take long to make up his mind. “If you’re asking me, then I’d want to start with making my armor set first.”
“I know it’s the reason why we came up with it in the first place, but… aren’t you at least a bit curious how far we could push it if both of us worked on it?”
Hearing those words, Valyr could only laugh out loud. “I am. I really am.”
“I wouldn’t be making the components beforehand if I wasn’t.”
“But also, I didn’t want to be hasty in my decisions,” he added. “Wouldn’t be nice if it turns only I was the one who wanted to craft the new set of armor first.”
“You don’t need to worry about that.” Ataraxia laughed in response.
“I’m you, after all.”
