MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1548: Clearing Up Confusion

Chapter 1548: Clearing Up Confusion
“Was that… really something the two of you couldn’t do before?”
Watching foolish grins appear on both Valyr and Ataraxia’s faces as they continued to take off their pants and put them on, Adam and Eve could not help but look at each other with slight doubt as they asked the two the question.
“Not really,” replied Valyr, his hands still moving to take his pants off for the nth time. “Pretty sure we could do this with ease after getting a bit of practice with [Soul Split].”
“Then, why are you two doing it now?” asked Eve after that, slightly perplexed at the thought process the two had to come to their current situation.
“You told us to do something we couldn’t before,” said Ataraxia in response, a grin still hanging on his face as he put his recently removed trousers back on. “This is something we couldn’t do before.”
“From a figurative standpoint,” added Valyr on the side. “Image to upkeep and whatnot.”
“I see…”
Although they were still somewhat confused over their decision to test their newly found freedom by simultaneously taking their pants off, the two Administrators decided to let the duo do as they pleased for now, confident that they’d take their question seriously at some point.
Fortunately, the two did just that after a few more minutes, giving Adam and Eve a brief look of gratitude as satisfied smiles appeared on their faces.
“Now, to actually test our separation properly,” said Valyr after that, letting out a faint sigh as he looked at Ataraxia.
“You’re thinking what I’m thinking, right?”
The latter nodded in response. “Probably the only way to test if the separation was successful, to be honest.”
Whoosh!
At the very moment those words left his mouth, Ataraxia went ahead and logged out of Greater Beyond without any warning, which briefly left Valyr at a slight loss for words.
Though, as the two had agreed on the fact that his other self heading back to Earth was the easiest way to check if they were still fully connected in some way, the young man quickly recovered from his shock, his expression solemn as he watched Ataraxia slowly disappear.
Closing his eyes for a bit as he felt the connection they had through [Soul Entanglement] weaken, the thought of suddenly disappearing from where he stood lingered within Valyr’s mind.
However, before the thought could even fully take root, the young man was prompted to open his eyes once more, his expression that of slight disbelief as he noticed something odd.
“This…” Feeling that the connection he and Ataraxia shared through [Soul Entanglement] didn’t fully disappear even after the latter went back to Earth, Valyr looked at Adam and Eve with a slightly dumbfounded expression.
…Only to remember the conversation the four of them had almost two weeks earlier.
“Ah…” Finally realizing what was going on, a hint of excitement appeared on the young man’s face as he decided to ask the two Administrators for more details on the skill. “Does anything about [Soul Entanglement] change now that Ataraxia’s back on Earth?”
“Only the speed of exchanging information, if I remember correctly,” replied Adam after giving it a bit of thought.
“If one second is considered the standard unit of time it takes to exchange information, considering the time difference between here and Earth, you sending information to Ataraxia would only take a seventh of a second for him to receive.”
“On the other hand, him sending information back to you would take you seven seconds to receive.”
“So, a delay, then.” Wanting to get a feel of how the skill worked in their current scenario, Valyr took in a deep breath as he kept the man’s words in mind.
“Let me try.”
Focusing his concentration on the faint connection that still connected him to Ataraxia after that, the young man went ahead and sent a probing question through that connection.
’Can you hear me?’
Then, for the next few seconds after that, Valyr waited in silence, already expecting it thanks to Adam’s earlier explanation.
Thankfully, just as thoughts of the skill not working began to linger within his mind, a response soon came back through their connection, prompting a familiar voice to soon echo in his head.
’Holy shit. I can.’
Feeling a smile creep up onto his lips the moment he got the response, Valyr soon received a couple more responses from Ataraxia, asking him as to why [Soul Entanglement] was working even after he left Greater Beyond.
In response, the young man reminded his other self of the specifics they asked regarding the modified skills Adam and Eve gave them, which was more than enough information for the latter to start jogging his memory.
’Is my voice being distorted by the connection in some way?’ Ataraxia asked at some point. ’Time difference and all that.’
’Not at all,’ replied Valyr as he faintly shook his head. ’There’s a decent delay before I receive your information, though.’
’How about mine? Are my words garbled?’
’It’s like I’m receiving multiple messages from you at once,’ answered Ataraxia after a bit of waiting. ’For a bit, it sounded like there were multiples of you talking at the same time.’
’…Nothing I couldn’t handle after what we went through, of course.’
After talking for a bit more to get used to how [Soul Entanglement] worked, Valyr eventually told Ataraxia to hop back into Greater Beyond, which the latter immediately did the moment he received the message.
Whoosh!
Appearing once more within the room the two of them were summoned in, a faint smile appeared on Ataraxia’s face as he looked at Adam and Eve. “Hearing Valyr’s voice in my head back on Earth was… quite the experience.”
“Call it preparation for what’s to come,” said Eve in response with a mysterious smile, which unsurprisingly caused the two to look at the Administrators with curiosity after that.
“What do you mean by that?” asked Valyr, the gears in his head turning as he thought more about the skill. “Wait… are you telling us…?”
“That’s all for today.” Realizing that they were entering a topic the duo weren’t ready to handle yet, the two Administrators decided to cut Valyr’s question short, redirecting their attention away from the matter.
“Just tell us that at least!” said Ataraxia with determination, only for his expression to slightly falter as both he and Valyr felt themselves being sent back to Veldanyr. “Is what we’re thinking gonna happen?”
“As we’ve said. That’s all for today.” Unfortunately, neither Adam nor Eve wanted to entertain the topic any further.
Whoosh!
And with that, the two were sent back to where they were before, with their final question to the Administrators ultimately left unanswered.
