Chapter 1636: Breaking Barriers: The Final Trial (5)
“…Utterly insane.”
Sparing a glance at the young man sitting cross-legged at the center of his barrier, a stunned expression briefly appeared on Aeramis’ face as he thought about the things that transpired over the past year.
Though, considering the time difference that existed between the barrier’s confines and the outside, it was more apt to look at the entire thing from the lens of only having a few months pass.
Nevertheless, whether a year had passed or only a few months had passed, the man was left at a complete loss for words as he watched Ataraxia comprehend concepts he hadn’t heard before at breakneck speeds.
At first, when he found out that it had only taken the young man a couple of weeks to push his comprehension on the Force of Raging Tempests to the highest stage an Intent Seed could go, the man felt that it was natural.
After all, the young man in front of him had already achieved feats far greater than that during the previous two trials.
Yet, that train of thought immediately fell apart once he felt the connection Ataraxia had with the world subtly change not even a few days after reaching the Culmination stage, directly informing him that the former had taken the necessary step to establish a formal connection with the world.
For a while after that, Aeramis was stunned speechless, the gears in his mind as he tried to recall the last time he had witness someone comprehend a concept to the Intent stage that quickly.
However, even after spending an entire day purely scrounging through his past memories, the fastest being the man could recall comprehending a full Intent from nothing took them three whole months.
Fortunately, after spending another day gathering his thoughts and bearings, his expression eventually returned to normal, reminding himself once more that the young man within the barrier was the most monstrous prodigy to ever grace his inheritance.
Then again, even with that thought in mind, the man still thought that Ataraxia wouldn’t be able to push the Intent any further, considering the insane amounts of knowledge and understanding needed to upgrade one’s Intent to a higher grade.
Not only that, but he would also have to take a bit of time to align the Intent he comprehended to something that resembled the Force of Raging Tempests more, lest he wanted an outcome from the trial that didn’t align with his wishes.
And so, confident that the young man’s progress after the first month would now be within his expectations, Aeramis focused his attention towards the former once more.
…Only for him to lose his marbles once again as he watched Ataraxia subvert all his initial expectations.
In just a week, the young man had found a way to integrate the other portion of the concept that made the Force of Raging Tempests into the offensive concept that it was, pushing his interpretation of the Intent to the next grade.
Then, in the following months that came after that, he reinforced his connection with the world over and over again, swiftly approaching a level that eventually forced Aeramis to look at the entire thing from a normal perspective.
Though Ataraxia’s feats still astounded him, his shift in perspective allowed him to take Ataraxia’s consecutive successes with greater calm than before.
…That is until he realized it only took Ataraxia half a year to push his Intent based on the Force of Raging Tempests to 1st Grade, the highest possible grade an Intent could go.
“…” Watching the young man finally tackle the skills he had chosen after spending an entire year on the two concepts, Aeramis briefly thought back to the deafening silence that surrounded him the moment he realized the feat the young man had achieved.
Thankfully, with the shift in perspective, the disbelief he felt from that realization did not last that long, prompting him to return his attention to Ataraxia after watching the latter shift his focus towards the Force of Tranquil Winds.
Surprisingly, even though the young man had comprehended a 1st Grade Intent with the Force of Raging Tempests as basis, he could not do the same that easily now that he was trying to do the same thing based on the second Force.
Wondering if it was due to a lack of experience related to calmer concepts, Aeramis watched the young man slowly get the ball rolling as he deepened his comprehension of the concept, taking an entire month to form an Intent Seed related to the concept and reach its highest stage.
Spending a bit of time deepening his understanding of the concept, the young man then upgraded it into an actual Intent another month later, taking a different approach to the process as his 9th Grade Intent already contained the two properties that embodied the original Force of Tranquil Winds.
Possibly relying on the experience he accumulated while comprehending the Force of Raging Tempests, Ataraxia’s comprehension slightly sped up after that, allowing him to push his Intent based on the Force to 4th Grade by the time another half year had passed.
“Considering how it only took him a couple of days to create the equivalent of a True Intent-tier skill without any prior experience, he probably wouldn’t even need an entire year here before finishing the inheritance.”
Muttering those words to himself, the man’s expression was pensive, his gaze briefly peering into the energies that circulated the young man’s body.
Sensing that the energies coalescing within Ataraxia had hints of the sole auxiliary passive skill he had placed on the pedestals, a faint smile appeared on his face, thinking that his skills would help in creating a new legendary figure within the universe.
Yet, not even after a day had passed within the confines of the barrier, the young man stood up, his expression calm as he gave Aeramis a brief glance.
Then, without hesitation…
Whoosh!
Activating [Fleeting Arcane Scripture] through the system, the young man immediately disappeared from where he stood, only to then flash at various spots throughout the barrier as if he made a teleportation array within it beforehand.
Watching Ataraxia wantonly use his movement skill throughout the confines of the barrier, Aeramis’ expression soon shifted as he noticed the faint traces of familiar concepts enveloping the former’s movements, causing him to feel like the young man was melding with the surroundings.
With that thought in mind, it did not take long for the man to understand what was going on, causing him to be left at a loss for words once more as he soon uttered a string of words he dared not say in front of Ataraxia.
“What…”
“…the fuck?”
