MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1679 1679: The Second Test

“Shit…!”
Barely holding on against the mental attacks with their concepts, Valyr and Ataraxia tried their best to dive under the blades, showing no hesitation as they proceeded to activate their status boosting skills.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Continuing to endure the bombardment their minds were receiving, the two dodged all of the energy blades in the nick of time, giving themselves a bit of reprieve as they allowed all of their buffs to take full effect.
Once all of their skills were activated, the two found it a bit easier to resist the continuous barrage of mental attacks, as well as the second wave of energy blades that appeared to mess up their concentration.
Though, as if the ocean itself finally had enough with them being comfortable at such a depth, the series of mental and physical attacks continued for many minutes after that.
To no surprise, both Valyr and Ataraxia felt as if their minds and bodies were wrung dry by the time it was over.
In fact, near the end of the bombardment, the two even began to entertain the thought of just succumbing to the two-pronged attack. After all, it would stop if they accepted their fates, right?
Yet, being reminded that they were still nowhere near accomplishing the final goal they’ve set for themselves, the two steeled themselves at the very last minute, barely surviving what felt like hell to them for half an hour.
‘…I’d rather go through the first test for an entire day that spend even another second in that.’
Letting out a wide sigh of relief the moment the ocean returned to its natural calm, Ataraxia looked at Valyr that contained a mix of excitement and grievances.
After all, it was the latter’s idea that forced them to go through such torture a second time.
‘…If you want to say what you wanted to say right now, I wouldn’t blame you.’ Of course, considering that the hardship they went through was caused by his decisions, Valyr knew that he had to stand his ground on the matter.
Unfortunately, after having both his body and mind be wrung dry by the test they just went through, the young man was beginning to realize that his other self had a good point when he said they shouldn’t take the second test.
‘Well…’ Spending a bit more time to recuperate some of the energy he lost, Valyr eventually gave his other self a slight smile. ‘Look on the bright side.’
‘Now that we’ve passed through the second test, we can see what lies deep within the ocean, right?’
Rumble…
Just as those words left the young man’s mouth, as if the ocean itself was making a response to his question, the iridescent streaks surrounding them began to tremble, coalescing into a form that the two had become more than familiar with half an hour ago.
‘You’ve got to be kidding me…’ Feeling danger emanate from the streaks surrounding them that transformed into blades, Ataraxia could not help but let out a sigh of exasperation as he looked at his other self in annoyance.
‘There’s more…?!’ Expecting the second test to have a similar format to the first test, the latter was caught off guard by the sight of the iridescent blades, feeling a hint of dread well up within him not long after.
Staring at the seemingly unlimited number of iridescent blades that surrounded them at that moment, both Valyr and Ataraxia briefly glanced at one another, wondering if this would be the cause of their untimely death.
However, rather than be met by the bombardment of hundreds of blades coming at them every second, the two instead watched the blades remain where they were, floating in the ocean as if that was their original purpose.
‘…Is… is the ocean waiting for something?’ asked Valyr after some time, faintly asking his other self why the blades surrounding them hadn’t already begun to attack them even after a minute had passed.
‘I have no clue,’ responded Ataraxia, slightly shrugging his shoulders as he looked at the current situation with puzzlement.
Thankfully, after another minute of waiting amidst them being surrounded with iridescent blades, the deep yet weary voice that greeted them during the first test finally resounded their minds once more.
‘…Color me surprised,’ said the voice, immediately giving Valyr and Ataraxia a bit of relief in their current situation.
‘For beings that have yet to become Legends, the fact that you’ve succeeded in accomplishing the second test is nothing short of a miracle.’
‘However, considering the progress you two have made in your comprehensions during the past few months, it would instead be more apt to say that the cause of your success is mostly due to the hard work that you’ve put in.’
‘Whether it be the classes you have, or the concepts you’ve grasped, all of those have contributed greatly to your survival against what is arguably the part of this trial that would stump many.’
‘…If anyone else had gotten this far into the trial, that is,’ said the voice, letting out a faint sigh after that.
Hearing that they were the first ones to have gotten this deep into the Ocean of Crystallized Truths, both Valyr and Ataraxia felt a bit of pride well up within themselves.
Then again, who wouldn’t after hearing they were the first to achieve such a monumental feat?
‘My ramblings aside, by having completed the ocean’s second test, you two have gained the rights to enter the deepest part of the ocean…’
‘…As well as where I and the remains you might seek reside.’
Feeling a hint of excitement and anticipation in response to the voice’s words, the two already began to orient their bodies to dive deeper in the water.
‘However…’
Though, at the very moment they did that, some of the blades surrounding them moved a bit closer to where they were, forcing the two to freeze in their respective spots.
‘As you are the first ones to accomplish this test, you shall be given the opportunity to receive far more from the deepest depths of the ocean,’ said the voice, its tone now containing a hint of amusement. ‘In exchange for a bit of risk, that is.’
‘Now… shall you take the risk…?’
‘…Or not?’
