MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1743: Upgrading a Subclass (1)

Though the words that left Valyr’s mouth made her raise her eyebrow in curiosity, Mystia still gave him a slight nod.
“Alright.”
Then, after giving their previous conversation a bit of thought, she asked him, “Speaking of which, do you have the materials needed to upgrade your subclass with you?”
The young man could only give her a wry smile and shake his head in response.
“Had a feeling,” said Mystia in return, faintly letting out a sigh as she nodded. “Guess I’m leaving the Mystic Plane for a bit, then.”
“I’ll pay all the materials once you return, Miss Mystia,” replied Valyr, giving her a look of gratitude that was slightly tinged with guilt.
Yet, just as he thought that the former would have no problem with the arrangement, the person mentioned instead shook her head at those words.
“With how much the Mystic Plane has grown after you and your student have become a part of it… the least I can do to repay for it is to not charge you,” she said to him, briefly leaving the young man at a slight loss for words.
After all, this wasn’t the first time Mystia had done something like this.
Back when he had become a part of the Mystic Plane and taught her and Marcus how to bring Mystic Energy to greater heights, she taught him the craft of alchemy and gave him a second subclass in exchange.
Though introducing Ataraxia to the Mystic Plane had caused a lot of changes throughout the plane itself to occur, the thought of gaining something out of it like before did not cross his mind even once.
To him, he was just upholding a part of a deal he made that the other party had long fulfilled.
However, seeing the adamant expression on Mystia’s face that looked like she wouldn’t take no as an answer, Valyr decided to shelf his current thoughts for the meantime, saving the thought of making things even with her for a later time.
And so, with his mind made up, the young man gave her a nod of gratitude, which elicited a slight smile to appear on the latter’s face.
“You’re upgrading it to Uncommon grade, right?” As she gave him a nod in return, Mystia went ahead and asked him for clarification. “10 different Common grade elixirs and a single Uncommon grade elixirs, right?”
Valyr nodded once more.
“Alright,” replied the woman as she seemed to have made her mind up on something. “The 10 Common grade elixirs aren’t a problem since I’ve already taught you those.”
“As for the Uncommon grade one…” she continued, only to then give him a slight grin. “How does learning how to concoct Reinforcement Elixirs sound?”
“…I… wouldn’t say no to it.” Although the thought of it had come across his mind once or twice in the past, only now did the opportunity to make it a reality appear before Valyr.
Unsurprisingly, after giving the idea a bit of thought, the young man agreed to it, immediately coming up with a number of plans in his head on how he’d benefit from it, as well as understanding that the offer was an extension of her show of gratitude.
Seeing that the young man had no problems with the idea she shared with him, a smile soon graced Mystia’s face once more as she conjured a gate that led back to her room at the Meltierre Heavenly Court.
While waiting for the gate to solidify, she looked at Ataraxia and asked, “You’ll be coming along with me back to Veldanyr, right?”
“Er…” Hearing those words, the latter began to nod at first, only to pause as he gave the current situation a bit more thought.
As the gears in his mind continuing to turn, the young man eventually came to a decision, looking back at Mystia as the image of a certain rune flashed in his mind.
“I’ll probably stay here for the meantime, Miss Mystia,” he said, causing the former to pause for a couple of seconds just as she was about to cross the gate. “I… kind of want to see the upgrade process for Teacher’s subclass.”
“…Is that so?” Briefly falling into deep thought, Mystia glanced at Ataraxia for a bit, only to then turn towards Valyr as the gears in her mind began to turn.
By the time her gaze landed on Marcus, a slight grin slowly crept up on her face as she asked Ataraxia, “Say, Ataraxia…”
“Wanna learn alchemy from me?”
‘…Had a feeling that’s the reason you stayed.’
Just as the young man in question was about to respond to her words, a slight chuckle echoed in his mind as he soon heard his other self through their connection.
‘What’s the reason behind it?’ asked Valyr. ‘Is it because the subclass complements your current stats?’
‘Partly,’ replied Ataraxia after giving it a bit of thought. ‘Though the subclass itself works well, it’s not what I’m aiming for, actually.’
Watching his other self deny Mystia’s offer, only for the latter to respond that it was possible to give him a second subclass, Valyr went silent for a bit before asking, ‘Is it just the second subclass, then?’
‘That’s a good chunk of it.’ Ataraxia inwardly nodded in agreement. ‘As for the other chunk…’
‘What do you think about the rune you used while concocting elixirs?’
‘…!’
Hearing those words echo in his mind, Valyr briefly looked at his other self in stunned silence as he slowly read between the lines of the latter’s question, understanding that the question was just a part of the latter’s true intent.
Then again, with their thoughts and senses being connected, it did not take long for him to understand what his other self was trying to do.
‘…You think it’s possible?’ asked the young man, giving the idea that flashed in his mind some thought. ‘From the looks of it, we’ll probably be trekking this path on our lonesome.’
‘But imagine if everything went according to plan,’ replied Ataraxia, showing excitement on the outside as he thanked both Mystia and Marcus for the opportunity.
‘You can forge equipment and concoct elixirs thanks to your main class and subclass, while I can only make powerful spell parchments with mine.’
‘But… if I were to have control over runes with potentially infinite possibilities and use it on the parchments I make… the equipment and elixirs you make…’
‘What do you think will happen?’
