MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1744: Upgrading a Subclass (2)

Whoosh!
With Mystia bidding farewell to the trio for the meantime, Marcus looked at both Valyr and Ataraxia with a hint of excitement on his face.
“Are you ready?” Marcus asked Ataraxia, beginning to summon a portion of authority he had over the Mystic Plane. “If so, we can start with the process.”
“It won’t hurt… right?” asked the latter in return, his expression showing a hint of trepidation.
Of course, with him having access to Valyr’s memories, he knew that the process of gaining a second subclass was anything but painful.
However, to the one who had no idea of the connection they had, Marcus could not help but let out a slightly amused laugh in response.
“Don’t worry,” he reassured him. “The entire process will be over before you could even say ow.”
Hearing those words, the young man remained silent, only to take in a deep breath not long after as he gave him a faint nod.
“Alright, then.”
“Say, Marcus.” While his other self had given the man the green light he needed, Valyr briefly thought about the changes that happened to the Mystic Plane before a certain question came to mind.
“Would his second subclass slot have any problems like mine did?”
As those words left his mouth, the young man thought back to the first time he obtained his second subclass slot, recalling that he was limited to his second subclass reaching Rare grade at most.
Fortunately, the words that Marcus told in response went against the thoughts he had in mind.
“Even if it does, it would only be minimal,” said the man, giving the question a bit of thought.
Conjuring an orb of Mystic Energy in front of him as he began to infuse it with the authority he summoned, Marcus glanced at Valyr for a bit before continuing, “After all, unlike before, the Mystic Plane is now a bona fide middle concept plane.”
“In the off chance he swaps the subclass he’d obtain from Mystia to something else, he would face no problems whatsoever… as long as the subclass doesn’t exceed Mythic grade, that is.”
Valyr raised his eyebrow at the last string of words. “Is that a limitation of the slot itself, or…?”
“I feel like it is,” replied the man as he gradually compressed the orb he conjured into a small pearl. “Though, it could also be a limitation stemming from the plane itself.”
“…Especially considering the Mystic Plane has yet to become an upper concept plane at any time in the past.”
“…” Feeling the atmosphere surrounding the trio become quite somber, Valyr remained silent for a bit as he watched Marcus continue to compress the orb into something more solid.
By the time the orb had a feeling of heft as it truly took on the appearance of an iridescent pearl, it was only then did the young man break the silence surrounding them as he asked him a question.
“So… will you be fixing my second subclass slot?”
“We would’ve gotten around to it even if you didn’t say anything,” replied Marcus with a slight chuckle as he told Ataraxia to relax.
“And between you and me… let’s just say that I plan to do a little bit extra on top of that.”
Whoosh!
Just as Valyr was about to ask him what he meant by that, Marcus went ahead and flicked the pearl of Mystic Energy towards Ataraxia, only for the latter’s body to immediately absorb it the moment it made contact.
“…” Watching how simple the process was for his other self to obtain his second subclass, the young man recalled how both he and Mystia had to face a lot of pressure from Marcus whilst the latter made the impossible possible.
Yet, now that the Mystic Plane had moved up in rank, the same process that previously took a lot out of Marcus now seemed like a mere walk in the park.
Fwoosh!
Feeling both Mystic Energy and the Mystic Plane’s authority begin to course through his body, Ataraxia felt compelled to close his eyes as a relaxing sensation began to envelop his entire body.
Though, before he could bask in it, the young man’s attention was soon directed towards his mind as he felt the majority of the energy head there.
Seeing the combination of energy and authority delve deeper and deeper into a certain part of his mind, the young man slowly began to wonder what it was doing, only to then feel as if a chained gate was being opened deep inside him.
Ding!
‘…Oh wow.’ Having no recollection of the experience he went through while obtaining his second subclass slot, Valyr watched the entire thing unfold from his other self’s perspective through the connection they shared.
‘To think unlocking the second subclass slot was done that way…’
Briefly giving the thought that surfaced in his mind a bit of attention, the young man eventually put it to the side as he looked at the notifications Ataraxia through the same connection.
[You have obtained an additional subclass slot.]
[Though you have yet to officially obtain one, you are the 397th person in the planet of Veldanyr to obtain a second subclass!]
[Due to this feat, you’ve obtained the title ‘Expanded Possibilities — 4th Phase (Veldanyr)’.]
‘Oh what?’
Though both Valyr and Ataraxia already had an idea of the notifications the latter would receive after obtaining the second subclass slot, the two were still slightly caught off guard after seeing how much the number of people with a second subclass increased.
‘397th…’ muttered Ataraxia through [Soul Entanglement]. ‘Ever since you got your own second subclass, that’s like… over 50 people?’
‘Yeah.’ Valyr nodded, his expression slightly solemn. ‘Normally, we wouldn’t think too deep into it, but like… over 50 people gaining a second subclass within a span of a year seems a bit fishy.’
‘Especially considering how there were only a bit over 300 with that achievement before.’ Ataraxia nodded in agreement. ‘You think it has something to do with the ongoing war?’
‘Wouldn’t be surprised if it was,’ replied Valyr, feeling like it was the most logical reason for such a massive jump to happen.
However, little did they know that the cause of it…
…Was actually something else.
