MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1745: Upgrading a Subclass (3)

Within the depths of an abandoned manor on the far outskirts of the Meltierre Empire, a small group of white-robed individuals could be seen standing in front of a large capsule filled with light blue fluid.
Surprisingly, inside this light blue fluid was a young man of unknown origin, their expression that of resistance as their eyes continued to remain closed.
“Vital output has been confirmed to be stabilized,” said one of the individuals as he gazed at the tablet he held, only to then shift his gaze towards the man at the forefront. “Shall we proceed with the final step, sir?”
Glancing at the young man for a bit, the man at the forefront looked through his own tablet for a bit before giving an affirmative nod.
“Proceed.”
Receiving the command the man gave them, the other individuals making up the group began to surround the capsule as half of them began to conjure magic circles while chanting a certain set of incantations.
As for the other half, they continued to monitor the changes within the capsule as they threw items from a nearby rack into the light blue fluid from time to time.
“Artificial removal of some of the Meta-neural Link’s permissions have begun,” said the man that first began the entire conversation, his expression solemn as he directed the group to action.
Activating a skill that allowed him to see more of what was happening, he briefly glanced at his tablet as he said, “Final outcome is expected to be full access to the Link’s 2nd Sub-profession Slot.”
“Though, there is a small chance that the current concoction shall also give the experimental subject access to the Link’s 2nd Profession Slot.”
The group leader’s eyes brightened at those words. “Maintain stability throughout the entire process. However, if possible, introduce slight variants to the process that would increase the chances of the latter outcome becoming a reality.”
“Understood.” Obeying the commands given to them, the group continued to keep an eye on the young man within the fluid, noticing that the resistance on the latter’s face was gradually disappearing.
Though this caused expressions of excitement and anticipation to appear on the group’s faces, the group kept things as they were, proceeding through the entire process as if they had gone through it hundreds, if not thousands of times already.
Whoosh!
By the time an entire hour had passed, the young man within the capsule began to let out faint cries of pain, only for them to gradually intensify as streaks of iridescent light began to erupt from his skin.
Seeing this, the group immediately went into action, utilizing all of the experience and knowledge they’ve accumulated throughout an incessant number of attempts to calm the young man down.
Eventually, within a matter of minutes, the young man began to lay silent within the capsule once more.
However, unlike before, the group felt as if a certain aspect of the young man had changed in some way.
“…Resonance within the subject has achieved 95% stability,” said the leader, examining the young man after the process was confirmed to be complete. “What are our findings?”
“Aside from this subject boasting the greatest level of resonance throughout our attempts, we’ve confirmed that the subject has unlocked the Link’s 2nd Sub-profession Slot,” replied the man that directed the entire group.
“And the small possibility that you reported?”
“It did not occur, sir.” The man faintly shook his head, causing the leader to let out a faint sigh.
Though, just as he thought that the outcome was the same as before, the latter noticed a smile filled with excitement appeared on the former’s face.
“However…” Knowing full well not to withhold any information from the being in front of him, the man directing the group continued where he left off with his report.
“Although we weren’t able to unlock the Link’s 2nd Profession Slot within the subject, we were able to unlock the Link’s 3rd Sub-profession Slot instead.”
“…” The leader briefly remained silent at these words, the gears in his mind madly turning as he pondered over the information he just received.
“How many… subjects have successfully gained access to the 2nd Sub-profession Slot thus far?”
“The subject in front of us is the 61st to gain access,” replied the director as he interacted with his tablet for a bit.
Nodding at those words, the leader continued his questioning. “And this same subject is the first to gain access to the 3rd Sub-profession Slot?”
“That would be correct.”
“Record all of the steps taken during this process without missing any detail,” said the leader after that, giving the group yet another command that they had to follow. “In case the cause is the subject itself, record down all information on the subject as well.”
“Once that’s done, proceed with testing the methodology used in this process to see if it’s possible to open the 3rd Sub-profession Slot on future subjects.”
“Understood,” replied the director as the group gave the man a salute. “Shall you be presiding over the subsequent tests, or…?”
“I’ll be making a visit to the headquarters.” The leader shook his head, removing the white robe he wore before proceeding to conjure a rift that connected who knows where in front of him.
“Though we’re just about to begin our attempts at making the outcome stable…”
“There’s no doubt that the Director of the Esoteric Division will be glad when she hears this.”
…
“…Phew.”
Ding!
While Marcus was in the midst of gasping for air, Valyr went ahead and opened up a screen in front of him, curious to see what kind of notifications he received.
“Did it take that much out of you?” he asked the former as he waited for everything inside him to settle.
“A lot more than I thought it would,” answered Marcus with a slightly wry smile. “Thankfully, the Mystic Plane underwent an upgrade. If not, I’d be out of commission for who knows how long.”
“Anyways, take a look at what I gave you,” he continued, slight anticipation adorning his face. “You’ll see what I mean when I said I’d do a little bit extra earlier.”
Nodding in response, the young man shifted his attention towards the screen that finally appeared before him.
Perusing through the notifications, Valyr faintly nodded in satisfaction after seeing his second subclass slot not be limited to a maximum of Rare grade anymore.
Though, as he began to wonder what Marcus meant by his earlier words, his gaze soon landed on the next set of notifications.
“…?!”
“…That’s a little bit extra to you???”
