MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1750 1750: Upgrading a Subclass (8)

“Is that… how it usually goes, Miss Mystia?”
Having watched his other self concoct a batch of potions in a matter of minutes, Ataraxia was left dumbfounded for quite some time. Eventually, he looked at Mystia with a hint of curiosity.
Although he already knew that concocting potions with the help of Mystic Energy would not take much time thanks to the memories he and Valyr shared, seeing it happen firsthand still surprised him.
After all, from the looks of it, ascending to Rank 5 made the entire process faster than before.
“That’s… how it usually goes, yes,” replied Mystia after a moment of silence, spending some time to find the right words to say. “But do keep in mind that your teacher is the only one I know that could concoct a batch of potions that quickly with Mystic Rune Alchemy.”
“From another perspective, you could see Mystic Rune Alchemy as something tailor-made for him,” she added, reminding Ataraxia of the praise his other self had gotten from her and Marcus the first time Valyr showcased his abilities.
Briefly lingering on that train of thought, the young man swiftly brought him back to reality after hearing the next words that came out of her mouth.
“Valyr’s ability aside, let’s proceed with teaching you the basics, shall we?”
“Alright.” Ataraxia nodded, his expression a mix of calm and eagerness as he paid full attention to what would happen next.
Seeing that the eagerness the former showed had gone up a notch thanks to Valyr’s demonstration, Mystia inwardly let out a brief chuckle as she began to teach him the method to fully control Mystic Energy.
As the Saintess of the Mystic Plane, she felt that the method to gain full control over Mystic Energy was quite simple.
After all, all one needed to do was to infuse their intent into the Mystic Energy they released, prompting the Mystic Energy to morph into something that would best embody their intent.
For some, the infusion of intent into energy came as second nature. For others, it took a bit more time and effort, alongside a single spark of inspiration that would finally bring the infusion to fruition.
However, whether or not one would be able to infuse their intent into energy with ease, there was still another requirement one needed to fulfill for it to be possible.
The familiarity over the energy that would have one’s intent infused.
‘Although Ataraxia has amassed a decent amount of Mystic Energy from the pills and elixirs I’ve given him in the past, I’m sure this is the first time he’ll come into contact with the energy itself,’ she thought to herself, continuing to explain the method to Ataraxia in the process.
By the time she was done, she looked at the young man and gave him a faint nod. “Any questions?”
Falling silent for a bit, the young man eventually shook his head in response.
“Give it a try, then,” Mystia said in return, her eyebrows raised in curiosity.
Nodding at those words, Ataraxia took in a deep breath before releasing a bit of his Mystic Energy into the surroundings.
Whoosh!
Having not given any attention to Mystic Energy during his preparations for ascension, it was no surprise that the purity of his energy was nowhere near what Valyr had reached.
Then again, with how he only had one skill in his arsenal that technically relied on it, there wasn’t really much of a need for him to focus on it beforehand.
Staring at the iridescent cloud of energy he had summoned for a bit, the young man briefly thought back to the idea he shared with his other self regarding the possibility of expanding upon the rune that made Mystic Rune Alchemy possible.
Thinking about how he would have to need lots of Mystic Energy in the future, Ataraxia muttered to himself, “I suppose I should spare some time to purify it later.”
Swoosh!
As those words left his mouth, he went ahead and infused the intent to contain into the iridescent cloud, prompting the cloud of energy to congregate into something more tangible and turn into a cage.
Watching Ataraxia transform the cloud of energy with ease, Mystia was left staring at the young man with her mouth agape for quite some time, the shock on her face more than evident.
After all, contrary to the difficulty she expected the young man to face while gaining full control over Mystic Energy, the young man instead showed him a level of mastery over the energy that put him on par, if not above his teacher in that aspect.
‘What kind of people have I recruited into the Mystic Plane…?’ murmured Mystia to herself inwardly, feeling as if her understanding of the world was being turned upside down.
‘I should be glad that people like these have become members of the plane, but…’
Just as the thought came to mind, she witnessed the young man morph the cloud of energy into a number of forms in a matter of seconds, making her think back to the hardships she faced after becoming the Saintess of the Mystic Plane.
‘…They’re monsters,’ she concluded, deciding not to think about the matter any further. ‘Monsters with perverse control over Mystic Energy on top of that.’
Ding!
While Mystia felt her world view close in on her as she witnessed the sight before her, Ataraxia eventually stopped his demonstration after receiving a number of notifications from the system.
Confirming that the notifications talked about how he now gained the ability to fully control Mystic Energy, the young man headed to where Mystia was before asking, “What’s next, Miss Mystia?”
“Next up is learning the basics of alchemy,” answered the woman in question as she swiftly regained her bearings. “By basics, I mean the usual way to concoct potions as an alchemist.”
“Making use of Mystic Rune Alchemy still needs you to have basic knowledge of the alchemical process,” she told him, summoning a cauldron before them from who knows where. “After all, Mystic Rune Alchemy merely replaces the cauldron with Mystic Energy.”
“I see.” Ataraxia nodded in understanding, glancing at the cauldron for a bit before taking notice of the ingredients Mystia brought out for him to use.
“Assuming you don’t have any background knowledge of alchemy, we’ll start with the most basic potion an alchemist should know how to concoct: the health potion.”
The woman faintly smiled after that. “Don’t worry if you fail to concoct the potion on the first attempt. It usually takes around 8 to 10 attempts for everything to start clicking into place.”
“Now… let us begin.”
