MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1749: Upgrading a Subclass (7)

“That settles it, then.”
Though she was already expecting the young man to decline her request with how sudden it was, reality surprisingly went in the opposite direction, causing her to beam with joy the moment she heard Valyr agree to it.
“Do you plan on fighting the Rank 7 being before the tournament?” she asked soon after, closing her eyes for a bit to regain her bearings. “Or is it fine if we arrange it after the tournament?”
“It would be great if it were the former.” Giving his other self a brief glance, Valyr responded to the question with a slightly apologetic smile. “Would that make things difficult, Miss Mystia?”
“…Somewhat, but it’s not like it’s impossible to pull off,” the woman in question replied, her eyebrows slightly furrowed in thought. “At most, I would only have to owe some people a couple favors here and there.”
“Plus, obtaining something like that before the tournament will give you an edge,” she continued, giving the two a knowing smile. “If that doesn’t make it obvious, one of the rounds will involve fighting against higher-leveled opponents.”
Hearing those words, both Valyr and Ataraxia could only smile back at her in gratitude.
Discussing the arrangements regarding the Rank 7 being a bit more after that, the trio eventually moved away from the current topic, returning the conversation back to what it was before.
“So… I suppose I’ll be leaving you off on your own for now?” asked Mystia, looking at Valyr with a slightly raised eyebrow. “Need a refresher on some of the alchemical recipes?”
“I don’t think…” The latter faintly shook his head at first, only to recall the offer she made some time ago. “…On second thought, can you teach me how to make the Reinforcement Elixirs?”
“And here I thought you’d forget.” Mystia faintly chuckled in amusement as she pointed one of her fingers towards Valyr’s forehead in response.
Whoosh!
Before the latter could understand what she was doing, the young man soon watched a beam of light erupt out of her finger, which momentarily caused him to feel a bit of pain.
Not long after, this pain was replaced with the feeling of comfort as an influx of information accompanied its appearance.
Processing and organizing this influx of information, Valyr’s eyes slightly widened in surprise once he found out that the information he received was none other than the recipe for Reinforcement Elixirs.
Though, contrary to the conversation the two shared earlier regarding the topic, the information he received on the topic extended way past the requirement he needed to fulfill for his subclass.
‘Even the recipe for Expert-level Reinforcement Elixirs are included,’ muttered Valyr to himself, inwardly letting out a sigh of wonder as he shifted his attention towards the other bits of information he received.
Surprisingly, the other bits of information were also related to the Reinforcement Elixirs. However, rather than contain alternative recipes or substitutions, it instead contained the knowledge and experience Mystia accumulated towards concocting it.
From the simple mistakes one could make during concoction, to the substitutions and additions one could add to increase the chances of success, she did not hesitate to include it all in the packet of information he received.
‘As generous as always,’ thought the young man with a slight smile, ending his train of thought on the matter there.
“No problems with the recipe?” Seeing that Valyr was done going through the information she sent over, Mystia went ahead and asked him a question to double check.
“We’ll find out when I actually get around to doing it,” said the former in return, making his way towards the pile of alchemical ingredients soon after.
“Alright, then.” Mystia faintly nodded at those words.
“As for you…”
As those words left her mouth, she looked at Ataraxia with a slight smile. “Shall we begin learning alchemy?”
The young man in question faintly nodded in response, the eagerness in his expression evident.
Smiling even wider at the eagerness Ataraxia showed her, Mystia went ahead and gave him the same subclass his other self obtained.
Accepting the prompt, the young man soon felt newfound strength coursing throughout his body, prompting him to take a look at the series of notifications that came soon after.
Ding!
[You have obtained the subclass ‘Mystic Rune Alchemist (Common — Growth)’.]
[Due to your first subclass slot already being occupied, the subclass you’ve received has been placed on the second subclass slot.]
[Note that the stat gain of second subclasses are only 80% effective compared to first subclasses.]
[…]
Spending a bit of time acclimating himself to the increase in stats, Ataraxia let out a soft exhale as Mystia nodded at him in satisfaction.
“Now that you have the subclass, you first need to learn how to fully control Mystic Energy and gain a basic understanding of alchemy in general,” said the latter.
“Once we’ve confirmed that you’ve formed a solid foundation in that regard, only then shall we move on to the type of alchemy the subclass specializes in.”
Whoosh!
Just as those words left her mouth, both Mystia and Ataraxia felt a wave of Mystic Energy wash over them all of a sudden, prompting them to turn their heads towards the one that caused it.
Seeing that the cause of the wave of energy was none other than the one planning to upgrade his subclass, a brief thought flashed in Mystia’s mind as she turned to look at Ataraxia with a smile.
“Looks like you’ll be getting a firsthand look at how Mystic Rune Alchemy works, then,” she said, to which the latter merely nodded in response.
Fwoosh!
Having thrown all of the ingredients needed to concoct the first type of elixir needed for the upgrade, Valyr swiftly wrapped his Mystic Energy around all of it, willing the energy to extract the ingredients’ essences as best as possible.
Going over the steps needed to concoct the elixir in his mind, the young man continued sending command after command towards the cloud of Mystic Energy he conjured, keeping an eye on the changes that were happening inside.
Eventually, the ingredients inside the cloud transformed into a homogeneous mass of essence, prompting Valyr to take out empty vials before proceeding to fill them up one by one.
Ding!
By the time he was done filling up the final vial, the young man received a notification from the system, confirming his progress towards completing the subclass’ prerequisite quests.
Seeing that his ascension to Rank 5 made the entire concoction process a bit faster for him, the young man did not hesitate to proceed with the next batch, briefly leaving Mystia and Ataraxia a slight loss for words as they continued to watch him from afar.
