- Chapter 1760 1760: A Massive Breakthrough

As that single word left his mouth, Ataraxia felt his horizons vastly widen at that moment as the gears in his head began to turn at breakneck speeds.
Though what he had only done so far was figure out the meaning behind one of the nine basic runes, that breakthrough was more than enough for him to figure out that the bits and pieces of information he collected on the runes in the past…
…Were actually connected this entire time.
‘To think the answer was right there from the very start,’ thought the young man, wryly smiling on the inside as his mind continued to connect all the information he had gathered into a greater image.
‘As the rune that’s used by a Mystic Rune Alchemist, it should only be natural that one of the basic runes making up its form would have a meaning that’s similar, if not exactly designed for the purpose it’s made for.’
‘Then again, even though I’ve finally broken past the impasse I was at, there’s still a lot of work left to do,’ he continued, glancing at the eight other runes he had yet to comprehend.
‘Fortunately, with understanding of one of the basic runes, I now have a rough idea of what meaning the other basic runes have.’
Shifting his attention towards the group with the most runes, he thought to himself, ‘Compared to the ‘Purify’ rune I just deduced, these runes seem to hold a simpler meaning.’
‘However, from the looks of it, the meaning they hold is the only reason the ‘Purify’ rune can achieve its full pote—!’
Just as Ataraxia had begun to plan out how he’d tackle the other runes making up the Mystic Alchemical Rune, the young man felt the entire world come to a stop for a brief moment.
Whoosh!
Seeing the entire Mystic Plane come to a chilling standstill, his eyes slightly widened in surprise, even more so when he noticed that Marcus was also affected by it.
“Wha—” he uttered in slight disbelief, only to hear the toll of large bells within his mind not long after.
Dong! Dong! Dong!
Though it sounded similar to the chimes he would usually hear whenever he got a notification, the bells had a weight to it that gave each ring a greater heft, making it give off the feeling that it was signaling something important.
Unsurprisingly, this caused Ataraxia to worry, wondering if he had done something wrong while exploring the Mystic Runes in detail.
After all, in his mind, the only possibility that caused the current situation to occur was that he had done something he shouldn’t have.
Yet, just as the worry he felt began to worsen…
Ding!
A notification screen appeared in front of him.
“…Hmm?”
Thinking that the system was informing of his misdeeds at first, the young man paused for a bit after noticing that the screen in front of him looked… slightly different.
“It looks… ancient,” he muttered, pushing the worry he felt towards the back of his head as curiosity took charge.
Moving a bit closer towards the ancient-looking screen after that, Ataraxia soon saw a line of text appear on it.
“Congratulations. Your previous actions have alerted the Apparatus…?” Reading the line out loud, the young man’s face began to pale in fear as he quickly assumed the worst-case scenario in his head.
Fortunately, the next few lines that appeared abated that fear.
“After the Apparatus has caught wind of your actions, it has deemed your actions to lead towards an outcome that holds immense potential.”
“Though the level of potential the outcome holds cannot be determined until it is fully realized by you, the Apparatus is confident enough that it has the ability to reach the ceiling of divinity, if not the realm beyond that.”
“Because of this, the Apparatus has decided to place your current vicinity in temporal stasis, giving you all the time you need to digest this piece of information.”
“…”
“…I see.”
Taking a few deep breaths to compose himself, a look of understanding soon appeared on Ataraxia’s face as the few lines he just read flashed through his mind.
“So… I didn’t do anything wrong, then,” he said to himself, letting out a soft sigh of relief not long after.
“Thank the heavens.”
With his worries finally abated, the young man turned to look at the ancient-looking screen once more.
“I… have a question.” As the gears in his mind continued to turn amidst the silence, Ataraxia finally voiced out the thought he had in mind, hoping that the outcome he imagined would come true.
[What would you like to inquire?]
Seeing that the text on the ancient screen respond to his voice, a look of excitement briefly flashed across Ataraxia’s face, only for it to turn solemn as he continued his previous train of thought.
“I’m a bit confused,” he said, looking at the screen as if it were another person. “You say that my previous actions hold great potential.”
“But all I did was just dissect Mystic Runes, though?”
[Though that may be what it looks like on the surface, what you’ve actually done is open a vast door that would lead to understanding a special type of energy even further.]
“Well… I understand that.” Ataraxia faintly nodded in agreement. “Even I could see that the basic runes making up the Mystic Rune contain great potential, especially once I begin to explore it even further.”
“But… does it really have a potential that could go that far?” he asked. “The ceiling of divinity… the realm beyond that… that’s peak Divine and Primordial level, no?”
[Although it is yet to be confirmed, the Apparatus has 90% confidence that its potential reaches around that level.]
“…Seriously?” Ataraxia couldn’t believe it. “You’re telling me that this thought I came up with has that kind of potential?”
[Affirmative.]
“…Surely someone else has come up with the same idea in the past, no?” asked the young man after some time, still feeling like the current situation was a bit surreal. “After all, even magic itself has the Arcane language, no?”
[Thousands have come up with an idea similar to yours, yes.]
Reading these words from the screen, Ataraxia let out a faint sigh of relief.
[However, you have failed to consider something that distinguishes your idea from theirs.]
“And that would be?”
[The energy used.]
The system responded to his question, only to elaborate a bit further.
[As you’ve just mentioned, even magic itself has a runic language that would allow one to make use of its full potential. The same goes for a great number of energies that exist within the universe.]
[However, to decode that same language for Mystic Energy…]
[You are the first in the universe to come up with it.]
