Not long after those words left Ataraxia’s mouth, the Mystic Plane fell into temporal stasis once more, prompting a familiar-looking screen to appear in front of the young man a second time.

[The Apparatus asks for confirmation.]

Remaining silent for a bit after it appeared, a string of words soon flashed on its surface.

[By upholding your part of the deal, do you perhaps mean the full comprehension of the nine ‘basic runes’?]

“Yep.” The young man nodded, not surprised by the question. “And just before you ask, yes. I also have a rough idea on how they operate.”

[Understood.]

The system replied after pausing for a bit.

[To formally uphold your part of the deal, you shall now disseminate the information you’ve gathered on the compound Mystic Rune so far with the Apparatus, as well as the basic theoretical framework that allows compound Mystic Runes to work the way they should.]

[If you have problems with this arrangement, it is still possible to reconfigure the proposition that has been agreed upon by both sides to be more lenient in its conditions.]

[However, keep in mind that the Apparatus shall reduce the proportion of assistance it would offer to you in terms of its computational abilities as a result.]

Giving Ataraxia some time to go through its explanation after that, the system eventually continued where it left off.

[Of course, if there are no problems with the arrangement, we can proceed as usual.]

“Sure.” The former shrugged his shoulders, not minding the need for him to share all the information he collected.

After all, from the moment the system made that proposition to him, he already had a feeling that he’d be forced to share all of it in exchange for the system’s aid in deducing all of the basic runes that could possibly be formed through Mystic Energy.

With that in mind, Ataraxia did not hesitate to agree to the proposition, considering that the only other being who would have the knowledge he collected would be none other than Valyr.

‘Though, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to teach Mystia and Marcus more about it once I have a better grasp of how it works.’

Sorting out his thoughts as he pondered over how he would explain the entire thing for a bit, the young man softly let out an exhale as he summoned a wisp of Mystic Energy.

“I’ll be starting the explanation from the energy being used,” he said, glancing at the ancient-looking screen. “As we both know, Mystic Energy embodies the concept of creation.”

“Whatever intent is fused into it, the Mystic Energy takes on a shape that fulfills that intent the best.”

As those words left his mouth, the young man proceeded to summon a bunch more wisps, only to then have all of the wisps combine together to form a small orb.

After that, he infused his intent into this orb of Mystic Energy, causing it to warp and deform as it took on the shape of a shield.

“By infusing the intent of defense into Mystic Energy, the released energy takes on the form of a shield,” said the young man, understanding that the system was listening to his every word. “But what if the defense you seek is not as simple as a shield?”

“Would Mystic Energy still be able to take on a suitable shape?”

With the question lingering the air, Ataraxia went ahead and released a bunch more Mystic Energy into the surroundings, letting all of it coalesce towards the shield of Mystic Energy he had just created earlier.

However, rather than just let the new batch of Mystic Energy take on the same intent that formed the shield, the young man infused the entire batch with a similar yet different intent to the one he sent out before.

Swoosh!

In response, the batch of Mystic Energy took on the form of a barrier that surrounded both him and the screen, which made it give off the feeling that it was isolating them from the outside world.

“Unsurprisingly, the answer to that is yes,” he said, a faint smile adorning his face. “After all, there’s no limit to the kind of intent that could be infused into Mystic Energy. All it will do in response is change its shape accordingly.”

“With that being said, the key takeaway here is specificity,” he continued. “The more specific your intent is, the more accurate the Mystic Energy becomes in fulfilling the intent you gave it.”

“However, there is a limit to how specific you could be with that intent.”

At those words, Ataraxia proceeded to dispel the barrier surrounding them, only to then release a bit of Mystic Energy into their surroundings not long after.

“Though I say specific, it would be more accurate to say that there’s a limit to how simple of an intent you can infuse into Mystic Energy.”

“Once these simple intents are infused into Mystic Energy, the energy takes on a greatly ideal form that best describes it, allowing it to unleash its purpose at a level of efficacy unmatched by another intent.”

“And that would be none other than the basic runes.”

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Focusing a specific intent on certain portions of the Mystic Energy he summoned, the energy gradually took on the shape of basic runes.

Specifically, the nine basic runes that made up the Mystic Alchemical Rune.

“While studying the Mystic Alchemical Rune that came with my subclass, I eventually found out that the entire rune was made up of nine basic runes.”

“The first one I figured was the rune for ‘Purify’,” said Ataraxia, moving one of the runes closer towards the screen. “After that, the next runes I figured out were a group of four.”

“Fire, Water, Earth, and Air.”

Moving those runes closer to the screen, he continued with his explanation. “After that, I figured out three more runes, each of which were similar to ‘Purify’ but had an entirely different scope.”

“Those runes were ‘Amplify’, ‘Balance’, and ‘Focus’.”

Whoosh!

“Out of the nine runes that made up the Mystic Alchemical Rune, the last one took me the longest to figure out,” the young man said, giving the screen an intentful look. “It’s not because it was difficult.”

“Instead, it was because the meaning it contained was something I’ve been interacting with from the very start.”

“Of course, that meaning was none other than… Creation.”

Fwoosh!

Releasing a ton of Mystic Energy after that, Ataraxia soon willed the nine basic runes to come together, only to then control the Mystic Energy he summoned to wrap around each rune.

Within a matter of seconds, the Mystic Energy began to duplicate into one of the various basic runes, eventually forming a rune that looked almost like the Mystic Alchemical Rune he started with.

“Considering that the meaning contained within each basic rune is self-explanatory, let me now talk about the framework I’ve come up with after studying the Mystic Alchemical Rune.”
