MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1768 1768: A Small Detour

‘…It’s been a while, Meyers.’
Sending a message to his other self through their connection not long after his conversation with the system was over, Ataraxia soon heard Valyr’s voice echo throughout his mind.
‘It’s been a while, indeed,’ he said in response, letting out a slight chuckle. ‘How have you been?’
‘I’ve pretty much done everything I needed to do,’ replied Valyr, his tone somewhat nonchalant. ‘Already got my hands on [Anathema of the Ascended] like half a week ago.’
‘That’s like… a month ago on my end,’ said Ataraxia after thinking about the other side’s words for a bit.
Briefly adorning a wry smile on his face as he took note of the stark difference in their passage of time, the young man faintly shook his head as he recalled the other thing his other side was handling.
‘Speaking of which, any update on the Rank 7 being?’ he asked, his expression becoming slightly tense. ‘Are we still waiting for that, or…?’
‘If you had asked me just when I got the title, I probably would have said yes,’ answered Valyr, his tone prompting the other side to think that the former had a smile on his face. ‘But now? We can fight it whenever you’re ready.’
‘Really?’ Ataraxia’s eyes slightly widened in surprise. ‘Didn’t she say it would take a while to find one back then?’
‘She did.’ Valyr faintly nodded as he replied. ‘But also keep in mind that almost two weeks have passed since she started looking for a Rank 7 being for us.’
‘Sure, it may not be as long as the time you’ve spent researching Mystic Runes there,’ he continued, a wry smile soon appearing on his face. ‘But two weeks is a lot of time to get things done, especially for someone like her who has a lot of connections.’
‘I see.’ Remaining silent for a bit after that, Ataraxia briefly went over the information he shared with the system, only to then focus on the bits of information Valyr had shared with him thus far.
Closing his eyes as the gears in his mind slowly turned in response, the young man eventually let out a soft exhale as he told his other self, ‘I guess that means I’ll be leaving the Mystic Plane for a bit, then.’
‘Ideally, but it’s fine if we postpone it to some other time,’ said Valyr after a bit of silence. ‘Speaking of which, how’s progress with the Mystic Runes?’
‘Great.’ As the word echoed in his mind, the former went ahead and sent his other self all of the information he had collected regarding Mystic Runes the past couple of months, which unsurprisingly caused the latter to fall silent in response.
After all, not only did it contain knowledge of the nine basic runes that Ataraxia had deciphered, but it also contained the basic framework he had created based on those runes.
Aside from that, he also sent over the conversation he shared with the system regarding his next step involving the Mystic Runes, which made up a majority of the reason why Valyr had gone silent.
‘That’s… wow.’
After about 15 minutes had passed for Ataraxia, only then did Valyr talk through their connection once more, his surprise and astonishment evident in his tone.
‘With skills like [Supreme Mystic Rune Deduction] and [Supreme Mystic Rune Comprehension] under your belt, it won’t be long until you complete the next task the system gave you,’ the young man said soon after.
‘Though I don’t know how much time those skills would save you, I get the feeling that you’d increase the number of basic runes you know to 100 in the same amount of time it took to get you from zero to nine.’
‘I’ll find that out for myself later,’ replied Ataraxia as he stood up with a slight smile.
‘For now, obtaining [Apex Hunter] is more important.’
…
Whoosh!
Appearing within the world of Veldanyr once more, Ataraxia felt as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders the moment he appeared in Mystia’s room.
Looking around for a bit to see where he should head next, a smile soon appeared on his face the moment he noticed Valyr waiting for him by the doorway.
“Looking for someone?” said the latter as he chuckled.
The young man let out a chuckle in response. “And here I thought I’d have to send you another message.”
“Speaking of which, did you inform Mystia that we’d be fighting against the Rank 7 being?”
“Yeah.” Valyr nodded as the two of them began to make their way out of the Meltierre Heavenly Court. “She said that we just have to wait by the court’s entrance for someone to pick us up.”
Ataraxia nodded in understanding. “Any idea on what kind of Rank 7 being we’ll be up against?”
“Nothing specific.” The former shook his head. “All I heard from her is that it’ll be a pain in the ass for us to kill it.”
“…I see.” Ataraxia went silent for a bit before nodding in understanding.
Talking a bit more about their remaining plans before the upcoming Nine Heavenly Pillars tournament, the two eventually arrived at the Meltierre Heavenly Court’s entrance, only to be greeted by the sight of Mystia standing in front of a large carriage.
“Took you two long enough,” she said, looking at the two with a slight smile. “Come on, we’ll talk more about what you’re up against while we head to where it is.”
Glancing at one another for a bit after hearing those words, the two soon nodded in response as they proceeded to enter the carriage.
With Mystia entering the carriage last, the trio soon began to make their way out of the empire, with the carriage beginning to float in midair the moment it moved past the empire walls.
Whoosh!
“So, where are we heading exactly? Also, what Rank 7 being are we fighting?” Briefly watching the landscape surrounding them become smaller as they gradually flew higher, Valyr soon turned to look at Mystia with a slightly raised eyebrow.
In response, the latter replied as if she had already prepared for the question beforehand.
“We’ll be heading to the Infernal Badlands, an area considered as the southernmost part of human territory by the three races,” she said to him. “Though, to the empire, it’s considered as no man’s land for a couple of reasons.”
“The first reason is the abundance of high-ranking monsters and beasts that roam it, with the weakest monster within the Infernal Badlands being at the peak of Rank 5.”
“As for the other reason, it’s the abundance of large active volcanoes throughout the area, making only its outskirts barely inhabitable for an outpost to be established.”
“With the existence of volcanoes throughout the Infernal Badlands, it’s only natural that the monsters that reside in it have come to adapt to it, attuning themselves to elements that are more fiery in nature.”
“Of course, that includes the Rank 7 being you shall be fighting, which I’ve already confirmed to be the weakest Rank 7 being you could find in the Infernal Badlands.”
“So, what kind of being is it?” asked Ataraxia after that, feeling like she was deliberately beating around the bush.
“Well…” Rubbing her chin for a bit as she found the right words to say, Mystia eventually looked back at the two with a slightly bitter smile as she said, “To be honest, it’s hard to describe what kind of being you’ll be up against.”
“All I’ll say for now is that it’s better for you two to be kept in the dark for the meantime.”
