Chapter 1774: Fighting a Rank 7 (6)
“So? How did it go?”
Seeing Hath and the two enter the barrier she conjured once more, a look of interest appeared on Mystia’s face as she asked them about their brief skirmish.
“I had them fight against a Rank 6 Blazing Direwolf,” replied Hath with a slight smile. “Guess how they did?”
“How strong is the Blazing Direwolf, though?” asked Mystia in return, understanding that the result of the fight depended on the gap in strength between both sides.
“Around the early to middle stages of Rank 6,” said the man in response, giving the question a bit of thought. “It was a Level 110 mini-boss. Mythic Elite tier.”
“…I’m guessing they killed the Blazing Direwolf, then?” answered Mystia, her tone somewhat unsure.
Though, as she thought about it a bit more, the fact that the Blazing Direwolf were killed by the two seemed more and more obvious as time passed.
After all, she still remembered the letter Lunarossa sent her that talked about Valyr’s fight against Erika back in the Myriad Prodigies Tournament.
Although the latter being a part of the Crimson Cathedral had caught her slightly off guard, what truly left her at a loss for words was the fact that Valyr was able to kill Erika.
Specifically, a version of Erika that had reached the limits of what Veldanyr could handle.
’…I don’t know if his student would be able to achieve a similar feat,’ thought Mystia to herself as she gave Ataraxia a brief glance. ’However, if the two of them work together, then killing something like the Blazing Direwolf is pretty much a done deal.’
“They did.” Just as she had finished her train of thought, Hath responded to her question with a nod. “Though, just to clarify, the two of them didn’t work together.”
“If anything, it’d be more accurate to say that Ataraxia killed the Blazing Direwolf on his own,” he said, the smile on his face turning into a wide grin.
“Ataraxia… did?” Unsurprisingly, Mystia’s eyes widened in shock at those words, not expecting that the young man that accompanied Valyr would also be ferocious in his way.
Seeing the reaction on her face, Valyr decided that now was a good opportunity to give her a better idea of what went down, explaining that the main reason behind Ataraxia’s success was the flintlock he had forged.
Listening to the explanation the young man gave her, the shock she felt towards Ataraxia’s achievement was soon replaced with shock towards the innovation Valyr had made towards the arquebus she had seen in the past.
As far as she knew, it took the young man quite some time before creating the arquebus that had already become widely known throughout the battlefield.
Yet, in a length of time far shorter than she expected, he was able to improve what was already a terrifying weapon in her eyes even further?
’…Calm down.’
Realizing that a whirlwind of thoughts had appeared in her mind out of nowhere, Mystia took the time to compose herself as she closed her eyes for a bit.
By the time she opened her eyes once more, she looked back at Valyr and Ataraxia with a calm expression as she asked them, “So, that means the two of you are ready to fight against the Elder Wyvern, then?”
“Almost, Miss Mystia,” answered Ataraxia as he sat cross-legged on the ground. “I still have to do some last minute preparations.”
At those words, the young man then went ahead and closed his eyes as he activated a skill he hadn’t used in a very long time.
’[Archives of the Grand Arcane].’
Whoosh!
Entering the library in his mind that housed a plethora of powerful spells once more, the young man took a brief look at the list of spells he was currently borrowing, only to then discard them not long after.
’None of them would be useful in the fight against the Elder Wyvern,’ thought Ataraxia to himself as he proceeded to go through the various spells that were available.
Briefly taking a look at all the high-level spells in his library, the young man eventually shook his head in disappointment as he turned his attention towards the ultimate-level spells.
’I suppose now’s a good opportunity to separate them into specific categories,’ he muttered, willing the library to adjust according to his thoughts not long after.
Once the spell library was done rearranging itself, the young man proceeded to go through the ultimate-level spells one by one, eventually choosing two spells that increased his chances of success of defeating the Elder Wyvern.
’[Agalith’s Demoralization] would help in reducing the Elder Wyvern’s defense, while [Vina’s Purgatory] would help distract the Elder Wyvern with a ton of debuffs in case the first shot doesn’t kill it outright.’
Seeing that he could still store three more spells after that, Ataraxia shifted his attention towards the few transcendent-level spells in the library, only to then arrange them in the same way he arranged the ultimate-level spells.
’Huh.’ As he thought about how fortunate he was that the spell limit for the skill was increased after his subclass evolved, the young man’s attention was soon fixated on a certain transcendent-level spell.
’Didn’t think there’d be a status boosting spell here, and a transcendent-level one at that.’
Being reminded that he only had one other skill that boosted his stats aside from [Descent of the Arcane Supreme], the young man did not hesitate to add the spell to his list.
’Not only does casting it boost all of my stats by 25%, but I could even infuse more energy into it to double its effects!’
’Of course, there comes the downside of not being able to move my body for the next three hours after that, but I guess that’s natural for a spell called [Maximum Arcane Liberation].’
After choosing that spell, he then proceeded to grab two more spells from the library.
Namely, [Oculus’ Combat Veil], which acted similarly to Valyr’s [Refined Offense Aura] and [Refined Defense Aura] combined, as well as [Beam of Light]…
Which was just a transcendent-level spell that cast a powerful beam… of light.
’Yeah, I think that’s enough.’
Finally satisfied with the spells he had chosen from the library, Ataraxia moved his attention away from the library as he slowly returned his attention back to the outside world.
Though, just as he was about to start deactivating the skill, a familiar voice echoed in his mind all of a sudden.
