Chapter 1775: Fighting a Rank 7 (7)
“…And here I thought you’d never use the skill anymore.”
Whoosh!
Just as Ataraxia was trying to figure out whose voice echoed in his mind all of a sudden, a tall silhouette appeared within the young man’s spell library, forcefully stopping it from dispelling.
Taking a couple steps back after seeing the tall silhouette, the wariness and fear he had towards it immediately disappeared once he took note of the silhouette’s white tunic, as well as the gradated pink hair that flowed behind its back.
“Arcane,” said Ataraxia with a slightly bitter smile the moment he recognized her. “Has it really been that long since I’ve last used it?”
“In the grand scheme of things, it hasn’t really been that much time.” Giving off the feeling of a soft smile in return, Arcane shook her head. “However, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s been almost a year since you’ve last used it.”
Noticing that a hint of trepidation had appeared on the young man’s face in response to her words, the former could not help but let out a slight chuckle. “Alright, alright. I’ll stop messing around.”
“I just wanted to know what you’ve been up to this past year,” she told him. “After all, it’s been quite some time since we’ve last had a good chat.”
“In any case, I can sense something from you that’s piquing my interest.”
“Mind telling me what that might possibly be?”
“Well…” Inwardly letting out a sigh of relief as he heard Arcane’s last few words, the young man went silent for a bit as he eventually began to give her a brief overview of what he’d been doing for the past year.
Of course, while doing so, he omitted some parts here and there, such as his visit to Adam and Eve alongside Valyr, as well as the Manaweaver legacy he obtained after reaching the very bottom of the Ocean of Crystallized Truths.
After all, even though she had done a lot of things for him on his journey so far, he did not consider their relationship to be as close as the one his other self had with someone like Julian or Mystia.
But, exactly because she had done a lot of things for him in the past, the young man did not hesitate to share all the other pieces of information he hadn’t omitted, knowing that Arcane wouldn’t mind even if he went out of topic.
In the end, he told her about the Myriad Prodigies Tournament, the guild he was developing, his time at an inheritance, his preparations before ascension, and his current attempt at developing a brand new concept.
Unsurprisingly, when he mentioned that he was exploring the concept of Mystic Runes to depths never trekked before, Arcane began to look at him with interest.
“Mystic Runes, you say?” she said, giving off the feeling that she was smiling at him. “Why do I get this feeling that they have something to do with the Arcane language for some reason?”
“I’m not entirely sure if they’re related, but Mystic Runes are indeed the building blocks to allow one to tap into Mystic Energy’s full potential,” said Valyr in response as he decided to give her a brief demonstration.
Whoosh!
Releasing a bit of his Mystic Energy into the surroundings, the young man went ahead and conjured the basic rune for ’Creation’, only to then follow it up with the runes for ’Increase’ and ’Amplification’.
Swoosh!
Once he gave Arcane enough time to look into the three basic runes in detail, he then proceeded to arrange in a triangular pattern before infusing the three runes at the same time with Mystic Energy.
Within seconds, the three basic runes multiplied hundreds to thousands of times, giving form to what was initially a tentative connection that might have a powerful effect.
By the time a minute had passed, a simple Mystic Rune eventually appeared in front of the two, prompting Arcane’s expression to turn solemn as she examined the Mystic Rune in detail.
“Though the means in which it is achieved is different, there still exists similarities between the simple runes you used to make the larger one, and the runes that make up the Arcane language.”
“I suppose it wouldn’t be a bad idea to help you decipher these simple-looking runes to an even greater extent,” she said soon after, which unsurprisingly left Ataraxia at a loss for words.
After all, all he wanted to do was to inform of what she was doing, not ask for her help in his current endeavors.
Yet, even though that was the case, the young man did not reject the idea outright.
Instead, he looked at her with slight doubt as she asked, “Is it really fine, though? Wouldn’t it disturb your other work?”
“What other work?” Arcane scoffed. “You’ve already seen back then that I don’t really do a lot. If anything, I’m quite interested to see if there are commonalities between these two areas, allowing them to reach greater heights.”
Remaining silent for a bit after that, the young man eventually decided to save the conversation for later, informing Arcane that he’d think about it first before actually asking for her help in the endeavor.
In response, Arcane told him to contact him as soon as possible, or else he would face the consequences if he were to delay it.
“In any case, I suppose I shouldn’t hold you here any further,” she said by the time their conversation was done, allowing Ataraxia’s spell library to crumble once more.
“I don’t know what you’re planning to do with the spells you’ve obtained, but remember to prioritize your safety first and foremost.”
“…Or else I wouldn’t have anything else interesting to do.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” replied Ataraxia with a chuckle, bidding farewell to Arcane for the meantime as he returned his focus back to the outside world.
By the time he was back, he turned to look at Valyr, who merely looked back at with a raised eyebrow.
In response, the young man went ahead and shared what happened just now through their connection, prompting the latter to close his eyes for a bit as he soon understood what was going on.
“I’m guessing you’re ready, then?” Valyr asked, his eyebrow still raised.
“Yeah.” Ataraxia nodded with a determined expression. “I’ve pretty much done everything I could for this moment.”
“Now, let’s fight the Elder Wyvern.”
