My attributes are increasing infinitely - Chapter 475: Accepting more quests

Chapter 475: Accepting more quests
Yumiko paused for a moment before continuing her explanation, and the brief silence between them carried a weight that immediately caught Ethan’s attention.
[And this development gives me a much clearer idea.]
“What kind of idea are you talking about?”
Yumiko answered without hesitation.
[Originally my plan was to sacrifice your Infinity Strand and merge with the World System.]
The moment those words entered his mind, Ethan’s expression shifted into visible surprise.
“You were planning to sacrifice my Infinity Law completely?”
[Yes. It was the most logical option available at the time.]
Her voice carried no emotional fluctuation as she continued.
[If I merged with the World System successfully, I would be able to evolve my internal growth function.]
[Once that process stabilized, I would be able to double the number of evolution points you gain every single day.]
Ethan blinked once while processing the statement.
“And I would not even need to kill monsters?”
[Correct.]
A faint grin slowly spread across Ethan’s face.
“So let me get this straight. I kill a single monster, go to sleep, and then wake up with enough growth points to level up again.”
[Essentially that would be the outcome.]
Ethan let out a low whistle.
“That sounds ridiculously convenient.”
Yumiko continued speaking before his imagination could wander too far.
[However, that plan contained a significant problem.]
Ethan’s expression became serious again.
“What kind of problem?”
[If we followed that path, you would become permanently bound to the World System.]
She continued calmly.
[Your growth would remain finite.]
[You might reach extremely high levels by the standards of this world, but achieving true infinity would require infinite time.]
Ethan slowly nodded as he understood the implication behind her explanation.
“So I would become strong.”
He paused for a moment.
“But I would still be trapped within the time limit.”
[Exactly.]
“And now?”
Yumiko’s tone changed slightly, and for the first time Ethan could sense genuine excitement within her voice.
[Now we do not need to sacrifice the Infinity Strand.]
He waited patiently as she continued.
[The gray mist that surrounds corrupted creatures carries a fragment of negative infinity.]
[Your Infinity Law can consume it.]
Ethan narrowed his eyes.
“And what happens if it does?”
[Your law strand will continue to grow naturally.]
She continued explaining the new strategy in careful detail.
[While it grows, I will harvest a small portion of its expansion and use that fragment to integrate myself with the World System.]
[The core of your Infinity Law will remain untouched.]
Ethan slowly began to understand the brilliance of the plan.
“So I keep growing infinitely.”
[Correct.]
“And you still merge with the system.”
[Yes.]
Yumiko paused briefly before finishing her explanation.
[Eventually your Infinity Law may grow powerful enough to swallow the entire world of Elysium.]
The words hung quietly in the air.
[Even if the world itself attempts to obstruct your path in the future, it will not be capable of becoming a true obstacle.]
Ethan was silent for a while.
Then he suddenly burst into laughter.
“Damn, girl.”
He ran a hand through his hair while shaking his head.
“We just arrived in this world and you are already planning to eat the entire world.”
A wide grin slowly appeared across his face.
“But honestly.”
He looked toward the remaining fragments of gray mist drifting through the air like dying embers.
“I actually like that idea.”
His body moved immediately.
Without wasting another moment, Ethan extended his hand toward the floating mist.
The Infinity Law within his body reacted instantly.
Invisible strands of devouring energy spread outward like threads of living darkness.
One by one the fragments of gray mist were pulled toward him.
Each fragment dissolved the moment it touched the devouring strands.
The process felt strangely satisfying.
A faint notification appeared within his consciousness.
One fragment of gray mist absorbed.
Growth of Infinity Strand: one meter.
Ethan tilted his head slightly.
“So that is how it works.”
“But divine energy wasn’t doing the same thing like elongating my law strand? Why did you still decided to sacrifice it. How is it different from the gray mist?”
[The divine energy was the materials of outside Elysium. Once I merged with the world system, it wouldn’t allow you to absorb any outside energy.]
“So that’s how it is.”
He continued absorbing the remaining pieces.
Each corrupted fragment carried the same result.
One meter of growth.
Ten destroyed monsters provided ten meters of expansion.
The growth was not extraordinary, but it was stable and reliable.
“Not bad.”
Within a few minutes the entire battlefield had been completely cleared.
The gray mist that once covered the field had vanished entirely.
Satisfied with the result, Ethan turned around and began walking calmly back toward the farm.
The old farm owner had spent the entire battle hiding behind a broken wooden fence near the barn.
The moment he saw Ethan approaching, the old man slowly stepped out of hiding.
His wrinkled face carried an expression of awe.
Ethan reached him and casually tossed the mission document forward.
“Sign here.”
The old man caught the paper with trembling hands.
“Sir… you were incredible.”
His voice shook as he spoke.
“For a Level 1 adventurer, your strength is unbelievable.”
Ethan blinked once.
“But I am Level 2.”
The world seemed to freeze.
The old man’s eyes widened instantly.
His entire body began trembling as if struck by lightning.
Then suddenly he dropped to his knees.
“PLEASE FORGIVE ME, SIR!”
Ethan took a small step backward in surprise.
“What the hell just happened?”
The old man pressed his forehead against the ground in complete submission.
“I did not realize you were a Level 2 adventurer!”
Ethan slowly turned his head to the side.
“Yumiko.”
[Yes, Master.]
“What exactly is going on here?”
Yumiko answered calmly.
[The level hierarchy in this world is extremely strict.]
[Individuals of lower levels are expected to show absolute respect toward those who possess higher levels.]
[Unless the higher level individual grants permission for casual interaction.]
Ethan looked down at the old man lying face down on the ground.
The man was trembling violently as if his life depended on Ethan’s reaction.
Ethan sighed deeply.
“Old man, calm down.”
The farmer cautiously lifted his head.
“I am not angry.”
Ethan bent down and picked up the two severed heads of the corrupted beasts that had attacked the farm.
“I am taking these as proof that the monsters have been eliminated.”
He turned around and began walking away.
Behind him the old farmer remained kneeling silently in relief.
As Ethan walked along the dirt road leading away from the farm, he spoke again.
“Yumiko, what should I do next?”
[Master, you should continue completing tasks related to corrupted beasts.]
Ethan nodded.
Yumiko continued.
[I have also obtained another important piece of information.]
“What is it?”
[When an adventurer reaches Level 10, they awaken a talent.]
Ethan raised his eyebrows.
“A talent?”
[Yes.]
[That talent often determines the future status of the adventurer within this world.]
Ethan smiled slightly.
“Interesting.”
His pace remained steady as he walked.
“I suppose that means reaching Level 10 should become our next milestone.”
[Correct.]
Ethan soon arrived at the Adventurers Guild building.
The large hall looked almost identical to the way it had appeared earlier that morning.
Behind the reception desk stood the same girl.
Sera.
She looked up in surprise the moment Ethan entered the building.
“You’re back already?”
Her eyebrows rose slightly.
“Did you complete the task or not?”
Ethan walked forward and placed the two monster heads onto the desk.
Then he placed the signed mission paper beside them.
“Here you go.”
Sera’s eyes widened.
She carefully examined the monster heads and then read the signed confirmation.
A smile slowly appeared on her face.
“You are impressive.”
She looked back at him with visible interest.
“I honestly did not expect you to finish the task this quickly.”
She opened a drawer beneath the desk and counted several coins.
“Here is your reward.”
She placed the pouch on the desk.
“One thousand EC.”
Ethan picked it up casually.
Sera leaned forward slightly.
“So what do you plan to do now?”
Ethan answered immediately.
“Give me every task related to corrupted beasts.”
Sera’s eyes lit up with excitement.
“Oh?”
“You are not afraid of them?”
Ethan shook his head calmly.
“No.”
She nodded enthusiastically.
“Very well.”
She reached into a nearby shelf and pulled out several mission papers.
“There are actually quite a few tasks that have been left unfinished.”
She placed nine separate documents onto the desk.
“Most Level 1 and Level 2 adventurers avoid missions involving corrupted beasts.”
Ethan picked up the stack and began reading.
Sera pointed toward several of them.
“This mission requires you to search for the missing family members of a wealthy merchant.”
She tapped another paper.
“They disappeared inside the Orion Forest.”
She then pointed to another document.
“This request came from Morel City.”
She continued explaining.
“The city is currently facing a beast tide.”
“They requested assistance from as many adventurers as possible.”
Ethan listened quietly while memorizing the details.
When she finished, he placed the documents back onto the desk.
“Thank you.”
He turned and walked toward the exit.
As he stepped outside, he looked toward the eastern horizon.
“Let us start with the beast tide.”
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“There should be plenty of monsters there.”
The world of Elysium was ruled by adventurers.
Technology in this region remained extremely primitive compared to the advanced societies outside.
As a result, most cities depended entirely on adventurers for protection against monsters.
Ethan slowly lifted his body into the air.
He could fly now, but the ability was still weak.
His body could not maintain altitude higher than five meters, and his speed was far slower than he would have liked.
Still, it was enough.
Ten hours later, the walls of Morel City finally appeared in the distance.
Large groups of adventurers were entering through five different gates.
Each gate corresponded to a different level range.
From Level 1 to Level 5.
Level 5 adventurers were treated like celebrities here.
Ethan approached the gate designated for Level 2 adventurers.
Just as he was about to enter the line, a soldier stepped forward.
“Stop.”
The soldier extended his hand.
“Show me your identification.”
Ethan pulled out the temporary card that Sera had issued earlier.
The soldier examined it carefully.
“A temporary card.”
He looked back at Ethan.
“So you are an outsider.”
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“And a Level 2 adventurer.”
“Wait here while I confirm your details.”
The soldier walked into a nearby guard station and returned with a small round stone.
He spoke quietly into the stone for several moments.
After the brief communication ended, the soldier walked back toward Ethan.
“Everything checks out.”
He handed the card back.
“Sorry for the inconvenience.”
He shrugged slightly.
“Outsiders tend to cause more trouble than native adventurers.”
Then he stepped aside.
“You may enter the city.”
