My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 826: Inner Conflict Of The Imperial Family

Chapter 826: Inner Conflict Of The Imperial Family
Princess Lindsey of the Golden Lion Empire sat at her desk in her trading company, paperwork spread out in messy stacks before her.
Recently, her company had secured many new clients, and because of that Lindsey had been quite busy these days, spending more time on her business than in the palace.
Her enterprise had expanded significantly, and because of this achievement, her siblings grew jealous, for she had managed to draw considerable attention from their father—Emperor Raghar.
He personally funded her venture to expand beyond the empire, which would be extremely beneficial. Not only would they establish trade in other nations, but they would also gain access to valuable information without arousing suspicion.
Emperor Raghar saw this as an opportunity to expand his empire’s influence, a chance to slowly push the borders outward. With the advantage of information, he could uncover the weaknesses of other nations.
And once those weaknesses were revealed, he would use them to conquer. This was the true power of having control over information.
Tik! Tik! Suddenly, Princess Lindsey heard a strange noise coming from the window. Turning her head, she noticed a black raven pecking its beak against the glass.
Around its neck hung a small bronze tube. Lindsey immediately recognized what it was.
Rising from her chair, she opened the window, letting the raven slip inside. She quickly took the bronze tube and pulled out a folded slip of paper from within.
The moment she held it, the raven took flight and vanished into the sky. Lindsey found the situation unsettling; she had no idea who would send her such a message in such a secretive manner.
Closing the window, she returned to her seat, poured herself a glass of wine, and took a small sip before opening the slip of paper.
“The shadows have already departed, and before the next morning, their whispers will be silenced.”
After reading its contents, she immediately burned the slip, leaving no trace of the message behind.
“I did well by trusting them…” Princess Lindsey leaned back in her chair with a relaxed smile, sipping her wine.
“Soon… that arrogant queen will learn what it means to go against me. Very soon… hehe~”
“She must pay the price for rejecting my offer… and she will pay it.”
Her silent whisper lingered in the office as she chuckled with excitement and anticipation. Lindsey had placed her faith in the Green Viper Organization. With their terrifying reputation, she was certain they would succeed in their mission.
Meanwhile, at the Imperial Palace, Emperor Raghar stood on the balcony of the top floor, outside his chambers.
He held a glass of wine in his right hand, gazing at the capital city. The night view was magnificent, and a gentle breeze brushed against his face, adding to the serene beauty of the moment.
“The city looks so peaceful from up here… yet, in the shadows, conflicts brew. They are far too concerning for the future.”
He took a sip of his wine, his expression hardening. Concern clouded his face—almost fear of the uncertain future.
“My children… they are fighting one another for the throne, for the power it holds. But such power cannot be controlled by anyone who lacks knowledge and the support of others.”
“It pains me… to see them turn against each other, even plotting their siblings’ deaths. For what? The throne?”
“They should have handled this with dignity, but instead they chose cowardly tactics. Did they really think I would not notice their schemes? How childish.”
His grip tightened around the wine glass, twisting it inward until it shattered in his hand. Red wine splashed onto his pristine white robes, staining them, dripping across his stern face.
Suddenly, a woman approached from behind. Draped in a thin gown, her golden hair fluttered in the wind, her golden eyes filled with quiet concern.
She embraced him gently from behind, resting her head against his back with a soft smile. Her long tail swayed slowly from side to side.
“You shouldn’t worry so much about the empire’s future. The future is uncertain, unpredictable, full of mysteries. No one knows what awaits. Our children’s conflict will end once you announce the successor to the throne.” Her voice was barely audible, a tender whisper in his ear.
Emperor Raghar exhaled softly, his eyes lifting toward the glittering stars above. Tonight, the heavens shone brighter than ever.
“You are right, Lindy. But… it isn’t as simple as you think. It is far too complicated. As of now, I don’t know who among them is truly fit to inherit the throne.” His whisper was heavy, weighed with doubt.
After a pause, he continued, “What I need is time, Lindy. I must test them—see if they are truly capable. Only a worthy ruler can bring this empire to greater heights. If the throne falls into unworthy hands, it will bring ruin.”
He turned his gaze toward her, his eyes searching hers. “Tell me, do you have some idea… who among them holds the potential to be a great ruler? To raise this empire higher than ever before?”
As the Empress of the Golden Lion Empire, her opinion carried more weight than any other.
Empress Lindy thought for a moment in silence before replying, “In my opinion, our youngest, Lindsey, is the perfect candidate to become the future ruler of this empire.”
“She alone has accomplished more than her two brothers combined. She has great potential for the position of the future Empress of this Empire.”
“You’re right about that… unfortunately, that isn’t enough to prove she is the perfect candidate,” he said softly, his gaze fixed on the beautiful city.
“You’re absolutely right, dear. Now, let’s go to sleep. Tomorrow will be a very busy day.” Lindy chuckled gently and led him toward the bed.
—
Yuan and his wives woke up late; they had been utterly exhausted the previous night after making love until the morning sun rose. They only collapsed into sleep when daylight had already appeared.
The night had been full of passion, and his wives looked extremely happy and content when they finally woke. They each shared a passionate kiss with Yuan before stepping out of the room.
Angela and Aisha decided to remain inside and cultivate, as their cultivation was still quite low. They had yet to step into the Spirit Master realm and were comparatively weak.
Meanwhile, Mireya had important matters to handle. With the kingdom steadily advancing toward prosperity, her workload had increased greatly in recent days.
Much of her work involved documents and issuing new orders through the Elven Council, though at times she had to personally oversee matters throughout the kingdom.
And today, she needed to visit the western part of the forest, where water shortages had caused crops to wither and die.
After carefully reviewing detailed reports on the issue, she decided to travel there herself with her royal army and resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
Once she was ready, she turned to Yuan with a smile and asked, “Are you free right now?”
“I’m free. But why do you ask?”
“Well, I’m heading to the western part of the kingdom. Lately, there’s been a shortage of water, and I want to see what’s really happening there. If possible, I’ll try to fix the problem.”
“I see… I don’t mind tagging along since I have nothing better to do besides staring at my wives. Besides, your aunt Kitsura’s presence is making me a little uncomfortable.” Yuan replied with a smile as he stood up from the sofa, hugging her gently from behind.
“Then let’s go. It will take a few hours to reach by carriage.” Mireya said as she took his hand and pulled him along with her.
Soon, they arrived at the carriage waiting for Mireya, guarded by ten royal warriors. Inside sat Sylvia, Mireya’s personal guard and secretary.
“What were you two doing inside? I’ve been waiting for you for ten minutes already.” Sylvia sighed softly, shaking her head. “Get in quickly—we don’t have all day to stand around.”
Shortly after, Yuan, Mireya, and Sylvia left the Royal Palace and headed toward the western part of the kingdom to address the water shortage problem troubling the farmers.
A few hours later, when they arrived, they found the area unusually dry compared to the rest of the kingdom.
Every tree was withering from lack of water, the riverbed lay barren, and the cracked ground was covered in brittle leaves. Farmlands that once overflowed with greenery had become wastelands, where only dust drifted in the wind.
“The reports are true. There’s definitely a major problem here. But I can’t figure out why the river dried up like this… it’s very strange,” Mireya muttered as she spread her Divine Sense across the entire area.
With a grim look, she added, “This place is far too dry to sustain crops. If left unresolved, it will put our people in a dire situation.”
Yuan also scanned the area with his Divine Sense for a while, yet he couldn’t detect anything unusual that might have caused the river to vanish.
’The river couldn’t have dried up on its own… and since the problem isn’t here, it must be somewhere else. Unfortunately, I don’t know the geography of the Beast Continent well enough to pinpoint it,’ Yuan sighed inwardly as he withdrew his Divine Sense.
Yuan fell into deep thought, and Mireya quickly noticed. “What are you thinking so hard about, Yuan? Do you have something you want to ask me?”
“Well, yes. There is one thing,” Yuan replied with a nod.
“And that is?” Mireya raised a brow, curious.
“Can you tell me where this river originates? Specifically, which nation does it flow from?”
“Hmmm… this river comes from the Twin Mountains, and they fall under the Golden Lion Empire… wait a moment!”
Mireya suddenly froze, her eyes widening in shock before fury twisted her expression. Her fists clenched so tightly her knuckles turned white.
“Emperor Raghar! That ungrateful bastard! I’ll skin him and his daughter alive if they dare show their faces before me!” she roared, her killing intent surging, though she forced herself to calm down before releasing her cultivation.
“So… that bastard and his daughter are behind this? Unbelievable…” Sylvia muttered, her face darkening. She swung her fist at a nearby tree, shattering it with a single blow.
