My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 827 827: A Second Sun

She then looked at the royal guards with a stern expression and ordered, “Go and gather the villagers, then question them about the dried-up river. We need to know how quickly it happened.”
“Understood, Lady Sylvia!”
The royal guards immediately headed to the small village on the other side of the river. It had barely a hundred people, children included.
Once the guards departed, Sylvia turned to Mireya and asked, “Now that the investigation with the villagers is underway, should we take a closer look at the situation from above?”
“Let’s do it. We must uncover the cause as quickly as possible and resolve the issue. Otherwise, our kingdom could face a food crisis very soon,” Mireya replied with a firm nod, her tone serious.
“I’m certain the Golden Lion Empire is counting on that outcome so they can exploit our suffering and profit from it… like a venomous snake.”
“We’ll find out soon enough. For now, let’s remain calm,” Yuan said softly, trying to steady Mireya’s anger.
Mireya drew in a deep breath, releasing a heavy sigh before meeting his gaze. “You’re right. Forgive me for losing control earlier.”
“There’s no need to apologize. For now, let’s check the river from above.”
Mireya and Sylvia both nodded, faint smiles softening their faces as they soared into the sky, with Yuan following closely behind.
From above, the land stretched endlessly before them—the terrain, the distant mountains, and the dense forests covering their slopes.
They traced the river’s path for miles, yet not a drop of water remained. Only a cracked, barren riverbed stretched endlessly, a desolate scar across the land.
A river of such magnitude drying so suddenly, despite rainfall being normal, was unnatural. It should have been brimming with clear water and teeming with freshwater fish.
‘There must be something at work here. Otherwise, how could such a massive river vanish without reason?’ Yuan pondered grimly, his expression dark.
After a moment’s thought, he said, “Let’s follow the river and see if there’s water beyond the mountains. If water exists there, then this is no natural disaster—it’s man-made. And that would mean the Golden Lion Empire is responsible.”
“Then let’s go. If it’s truly them, I’ll make them pay a thousandfold!” Mireya gritted her teeth in fury before flying onward with Sylvia beside her.
A couple of seconds later, they hovered above the mountain range, which falls under the territory of the Golden Lion Empire—The Twin Mountains.
Beyond this mountain range lay a massive lake, so enormous that a normal person’s eye couldn’t see the other end, even if their vision was magically enhanced.
The water was crystal clear, and the sunlight made it appear a vivid blue from the sky. It was a beautiful, yet vast and imposing, lake.
People called it the Blue Abyss, due to both its immense size and its danger, as countless aquatic monsters lurked in its depths, some of them incredibly ancient.
There was a neutral zone in the lake, which remained safe since monsters rarely appeared there. Many fishermen relied on this area to earn a living, and a city had developed near the shore.
It was home to the largest freshwater fish market in the entire Beast Continent. Noble families and influential tribes traveled there regularly to buy rare fish, highly prized across the land.
“So, there is a city here. I didn’t expect this at all,” Yuan muttered, surprise evident on his face as he gazed down at the city below.
“That’s Blue Lake City. It’s one of the largest cities in the Golden Lion Empire, and also hosts the largest fish market in the entire empire,” Sylvia explained, following his gaze.
A few seconds later, Mireya spotted something suspicious between the Twin Mountains. Her expression immediately turned serious.
“Look over there…” Mireya said grimly, pointing toward the base of the mountains. “They’re building a water dam on top of the waterfall! How hypocritical of them to think they can do this unnoticed.”
“Unbelievable… They’ve gone too far! I feel like kicking the emperor’s butt myself,” Sylvia snorted coldly, her anger clear as she glared at the dam under construction.
“Let me check the area to see if anyone is present,” Yuan said, quickly extending his Divine Sense across the site.
The laborers were taking a lunch break a short distance from the construction, and no one was close to the dam itself.
Yuan also spotted a few high-ranking officials of the empire observing the progress from afar.
“There’s no one working on the dam right now. Everyone’s on break, which is good news for us,” Yuan said, glancing over his shoulder at Mireya and Sylvia, a smirk playing on his lips.
Mireya and Sylvia both raised their brows, their eyes widening as they realized Yuan’s intentions regarding the dam.
“Are you really going to destroy that dam?” Sylvia asked, her eyes wide as a soccer ball.
“Absolutely! I don’t see any reason not to. Besides, we have to return to the palace soon—we don’t have time to waste wondering what to do,” Yuan replied.
He continued, “The Golden Lion Empire has already shown its true colors. There’s no reason for us to sit back and watch them do as they please.”
“Yuan is right, Sister Mireya. There’s no reason to hesitate now. Let’s do it! Let’s destroy this fucking dam and be done with it,” Sylvia added, snorting coldly as she glared at the dam with fury.
“Alright. Let’s see how Raghar reacts to this,” Mireya said, nodding with a wide grin on her face.
Smiling, Yuan retrieved his Empyreal Oblivion from his system storage. He gripped the sword firmly with both hands and focused his Divine Sense on the massive dam.
“It’s been a while since I last used this technique… The last time, it erased the existence of the Holy Church from this world,” Yuan muttered, his expression serious as he prepared the attack.
Suddenly, the air around him began to shift violently. The clouds above swirled rapidly, forming a massive tornado that darkened the sky and blocked the sunlight from reaching the earth.
Yuan’s cultivation erupted, sending a massive shockwave rippling through the sky, audible from miles away.
The laborers taking a break below noticed the sudden weather change. Concern spread across their faces as they gazed up, puzzled and frightened.
“W-what in the lord’s name is happening? Why did such a strong wind suddenly pick up?”
“Look at the sky… it seems a tornado is about to hit us at any moment!”
“Everyone! Find safety! Save yourselves! The Gods are furious at us!!”
The workers screamed, scrambling to find shelter and save their lives. Panic consumed them, convinced that the wrath of a god was descending upon them.
In Blue Lake City, people shuttered their shops, believing the gods were angry. Everyone hurried indoors, praying desperately for mercy.
Mothers carried their children to safety, hugging them tightly as they hid in the corners of their homes, praying fervently to the gods for protection.
Yuan, Mireya, and Sylvia hovered so high in the sky that the people below didn’t even notice them—only the massive, thick clouds blocking the sun drew their attention.
Yuan opened his eyes wide, a golden glow emanating from them as he fixed his gaze on the dam. He raised his sword high toward the heavens.
The sword in his hands transformed into a towering pillar of light, so blinding it was as if a second sun had appeared in the sky, instantly scattering the black clouds above.
“Empyreal Severing Sword Strike…” Yuan muttered in a low voice as he swung the sword down vertically. A soft hum echoed through the air as the blade moved.
The pillar of light shot toward the dam at blinding speed, and in the blink of an eye, it collided with the massive structure.
Booommm!!! A tremendous explosion shook the empire as the pillar of light struck the dam.
A colossal mushroom cloud of dust erupted from the impact. Yet the pillar of light didn’t stop; it continued forward at the same speed even after destroying the dam.
Booooommmm!!! Another massive collision followed as the pillar of light slammed into the dried-up riverbed, creating a vast crater in a straight line along the river.
As the dam collapsed, a torrent of water gushed out, sweeping away the remaining debris with its powerful current.
Gradually, the massive crater began to fill, the river flowing freely once more—faster and stronger than before.
Having accomplished their mission, Yuan, Mireya, and Sylvia vanished from the sky, returning to the Elven Kingdom.
Meanwhile, a report reached the capital of the Golden Lion Empire, informing the Imperial Family of the strange incident at the Blue Lake City construction site.
Emperor Raghar’s face registered shock as he read the report, his eyes widening in disbelief at the detailed account of the phenomenon.
“A blinding light appeared high in the sky and the dam was destroyed in an instant… This is ridiculous! How could there be a blinding light in the sky?” he muttered, gritting his teeth in frustration.
Fury overtaking him, he roared, “Did they go mad from drinking too much or something? This must be the work of someone! Otherwise, how could it only target the dam I’m building?”
After a moment, he calmed himself, then burned the report, scattering the ashes to the ground with a cold snort.
“It must be the work of that bitch—Queen of the Elves, Mireya!” Raghar muttered under his breath, certain of who was responsible.
