My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 850: A Huge Disappointment

Chapter 850: A Huge Disappointment
Xi Meili immediately incinerated the corpse with her flames, erasing every trace of blood from the ground.
Shortly after, they reached a building following the directions given by the guard Yuan had killed a moment ago. The place was crowded and someone was singing inside.
A sweet melody filled their ears, accompanied by the strains of old-fashioned musical instruments.
“A crowded place… this must be it. The bar the guard mentioned,” Yuan muttered softly, smiling at his wives. “Let’s go in and take a look.”
His wives nodded and followed him inside.
The bar was full of half-clad girls dancing to the music; their hips swayed seductively and their breasts bounced with every motion.
They drew the attention of the patrons — leering eyes lingered on their bodies and lips parted in crude anticipation.
Some customers rose from their seats and joined the dancers, groping them, while the dancers pressed their bodies against the men, stoking their lust.
Bar waitresses moved between tables in provocative outfits, boldly revealing most of their skin as they served food and drink.
Yuan and his women instantly became the center of attention; every gaze in the room fixed on his wives.
Yuan himself was ignored — the crowd’s eyes followed only the women, brimming with lust and ill intent.
’Should I just kill them all? They’re nothing but lowlifes,’ he thought, restraining the anger rising in his chest. ’No — I don’t want a scene before I get what I came for. Hold it for now.’
With a soft sigh he approached the bar; his wives fell in beside him, ignoring the stares as if the room did not exist.
The patrons were curious but hesitant; the unsettling aura the group gave off kept most people at bay.
The bartender watched Yuan and his wives approach — unfamiliar faces at first, then recognition dawning. He couldn’t forget Mireya, Sylvia, Vrasha, and Kitsura; their fame stretched across the continent.
’What are they doing here? And more importantly, why are they with them? Could it be they came for information?’ the bartender thought, his expression curious yet vigilant.
“Prepare a simple drink for us—make sure the ladies get less alcohol,” Yuan said as he sat down at the counter, ordering for himself and his wives.
“Of course. Give me just a moment, I’ll prepare them immediately.” The bartender nodded before quickly getting to work on the drinks.
Anna and the others also sat at the counter, their presence drawing even more attention than the half-naked dancers moving seductively on stage. The guests’ gazes lingered far more on them than on the performers.
Once the drinks were ready, Yuan took a sip, then handed a gold coin to the bartender with a serious look on his face.
“Is there anything else you’d like?” the bartender asked after pocketing the coin, flashing a small grin. “We provide all sorts of services to our guests—just say what you want.”
“Oh? Is that so?” Yuan raised a brow. “Then can you provide me with valuable and highly secret information? I’ll pay you fairly for it.”
“Ahh, I see now… so you came here seeking information. That makes sense. You’re new to this city, aren’t you? Is this your first time here?” the bartender asked, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Indeed. It is my first time,” Yuan replied with a faint smile.
At those words, the bartender’s expression grew serious. “Now then, what sort of information do you seek from the Sky Eagle Syndicate?”
“Information regarding the Dark Continent. I want everything you have—every single valuable piece of information about it,” Yuan declared, his tone steady and firm.
The bartender stared at Yuan in silence for several moments before sighing heavily and shaking his head. “I’m sorry, but our Sky Eagle Syndicate cannot give you information about the Dark Continent. No one has set foot there for over three hundred years.”
“And why is that?” Yuan asked, his brows furrowed in confusion.
Taking a deep breath, the bartender explained, “Because the entire continent is shrouded in a thick, dark fog—like some kind of miasma. Anyone who ever went inside never came back alive. No ship dares to sail near it, as it’s believed that the fog hides countless terrifying, demonic sea creatures.”
“The demonic beasts are said to be so powerful that no ship could pass through the sea near the fog. So, it’s best you all stay away from the demonic continent for your own good.”
“No one wants to risk their life by going near the fog. For that reason, we know almost nothing about the Dark Continent.” The bartender finished with a heavy sigh.
Yuan felt a sharp disappointment after hearing the bartender. He had expected to learn something from the most influential information syndicate, but the meeting ended in frustration.
Yuan and his wives soon left the bar, having gained nothing useful, and made for the northern district of the Lawless City where the Green Viper Organization’s headquarters lay.
“It’s a pity we didn’t get any information on the Dark Continent — a waste of time. Still, the drink made it worth a bit,” Yuan said to his mother with a smile as he walked, holding her hand.
“Indeed. It was a fine drink, worth the trip. But don’t forget our main purpose,” Anna Grace replied, nodding with a soft smile.
“Absolutely — let’s raid the Green Viper Organization as soon as possible.” Vrasha grinned broadly and nodded.
They reached the northern district, and the moment they entered, Yuan and his wives sensed many presences shadowing them from the alleys and the buildings’ dark corners.
Nearly ten figures trailed them, watching their every move in silence — like shadows glued to their heels.
Unfortunately for those tailing them, Yuan had noticed them long before they set foot in the district.
“It seems a few rats have been tailing us for a while,” Yuan whispered to his wives, keeping his voice low.
“I know.” They all nodded with smirks, each of them already using their Divine Sense since arriving.
“Shall I take care of them?” Sylvia asked, a predatory smirk on her face.
“Sure — leave one alive. We need him to lead us to their leader. That will save time,” Yuan said, nodding.
In an instant, Sylvia’s figure blurred and vanished from where she stood, a movement that sent a ripple of alarm through the assassins following them.
“WHAT?! Where did that dark elf go?!” one of the assassins spat, disbelief ripping through his voice.
“How did she just vanish while we were watching them so closely?!” another yelled, scanning the alley as his head snapped from side to side.
As they frantically searched, Sylvia reappeared behind them like a wraith — silent, deadly.
“Looking for me?”
Her melodious, dangerous voice rolled over them, and their eyes went wide with horror. Before they could spin around, their heads hit the ground — all but one dead in the blink of an eye.
“Hmph. Trying to stalk us… you don’t have the skill for it. No one hides from us,” Sylvia sneered, disdain curling her lips as she turned to the lone survivor.
“W-What do you want from me…?” the assassin stammered, trembling, terror eating through him.
Sylvia’s chuckle was low and cold. “Simple. Take us to your leader, and I’ll spare your life.”
“Alright! I’ll show you…but please, you must spare my life…” The assassin spoke quickly, his voice trembling as he immediately became willing to lead them to the headquarters.
After all, nobody truly wished for death when there was still a chance to survive.
Not long after, the assassin began guiding Yuan and his wives through the streets toward the headquarters of the Green Viper Organization.
His legs shook uncontrollably with every step, fear crawling through his body.
The terrifying scene of Sylvia butchering his fellow assassins in an instant continued to replay inside his mind, haunting him every second.
’Just who in the world is this woman? How could she kill all of them in merely the blink of an eye?!’ the assassin screamed inwardly, not daring to meet Sylvia’s eyes—or anyone else’s in the group for that matter.
As they passed through the busy streets, countless people glanced at Yuan and his wives with curiosity, while others gazed at them with open lust.
However, the eerie and suffocating pressure radiating from the group made it clear that they were not ordinary people, and because of that overwhelming aura, no one dared to approach them, let alone speak a word.
Soon after, they arrived before the large building that served as the Green Viper Organization’s headquarters.
Many assassins stood stationed outside the building, guarding the entrance with sharp eyes.
On the outer wall, several bounty posters were plastered in plain sight. Yuan’s gaze immediately locked onto one in particular—the bounty poster of Mireya.
His expression darkened instantly as he stared at the poster. Written across it was a reward of five hundred thousand gold coins, a staggering amount of money for any assassin.
’I swear, I’ll make the leader of the Green Viper Organization pay dearly for daring to put such a bounty on my wife’s head!’ Yuan muttered furiously to himself, his fists clenching tightly in frustration.
The assassin leading them stole a nervous glance at Sylvia and said, “This here is our headquarters. I can only bring you this far…my rank doesn’t allow me to enter inside with guests of this level.”
“Fine. You may leave now. We will go inside on our own,” Sylvia responded with a nod, dismissing him coldly.
The assassin immediately bolted away as though his very life depended on it, leaving the nearby guards bewildered and shocked by his strange, panicked behavior.
“Let’s head inside and pay a very special visit to the leader of the Green Viper Organization, Nyx,” Yuan said with a wide grin spreading across his face before striding forward. His wives walked close behind him, ready for whatever awaited inside.
