My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 898: Demon Emperor Rhex

Chapter 898: Demon Emperor Rhex
“Welcome to the Eternal Demon City, travelers from beyond the continent. I am the ruler of this land—Rhex Blackburn, the Demon Emperor,” Rhex Blackburn introduced himself in a dignified tone, a proud expression etched on his face.
“What is your name, traveler?” he asked next.
“I am Yuan, an ordinary traveler,” Yuan replied calmly, his expression composed.
He then proceeded to introduce everyone one by one to the Demon Emperor.
“Fascinating… your group doesn’t consist solely of demi-humans, but includes an angel as well. And what’s even more surprising is that it’s none other than the battle angel Selvariel,” Rhex said, visibly startled upon hearing her name.
’To think that someone like Selvariel, who possesses pride and arrogance rivaling that of a dragon, would submit to a human… this is truly unbelievable and beyond imagination,’ Rhex thought, his gaze fixed on Selvariel with clear astonishment.
He studied her for a moment before shifting his eyes back to Yuan, yet he found himself unable to read this human at all. It was as though he were staring at something completely unfathomable.
’This young human… he is exactly as Duke Hexryn described—shrouded entirely in mystery,’ Rhex thought, increasingly intrigued by Yuan’s obscure origins.
Never in his life had he imagined that a human could cross the mysterious storm barrier surrounding the Demonic Continent, a barrier that had completely isolated it from the rest of the world.
And yet, the very individual who accomplished the impossible now stood before him—not alone, but accompanied by several others.
The realization left him momentarily speechless, and for the first time in several hundred years, genuine excitement surged within him.
’So there is still hope for us to reconnect with the outside world… and the key to that possibility is standing right in front of me,’ he thought as he took a deep breath, letting the weight of the moment sink in.
“Hm… Yuan, do you realize that you have committed a grave offense by bringing an angel here? You are well aware that we are mortal enemies of anything associated with the Holy Church and the Gods,” Rhex spoke coldly, his voice heavy with authority as his sharp gaze locked onto Yuan.
“Ever since the Holy Church declared war upon us under the orders of those so-called mighty gods… angels have become our natural enemies, blindly following every command issued by the Church and the Gods.”
“And yet, you bring a mortal enemy before my very presence,” Rhex paused briefly before continuing, “Tell me—how should I deal with this blasphemy?”
Yuan remained calm throughout the entire exchange, his expression not wavering in the slightest, showing no trace of fear or hesitation.
“Hmm… you may be right about me committing a crime by bringing your mortal enemy into your palace. However, as a matter of fact, she is my servant now. And she has the right to follow me wherever I go.” Yuan responded in a calm and calculated voice, looking directly into Rhex’s eyes.
“What?! She is your servant?! This is impossible!!” Rhex exclaimed loudly with a look of disbelief on his face, staring at Yuan with his eyes wide open.
He stood up from his throne in shock, unable to remain seated after hearing those words. “There is no way an angel of her caliber would serve a human as a servant! After all, she is far too proud of herself and her achievements.”
“Well, it’s up to you whether you believe it or not. In the end, it won’t change anything.” Yuan replied calmly, his stance firm as he refused to take even a single step back.
“Is that so… It seems I have no choice but to believe your words, considering she is following you like a loyal servant,” Rhex spoke after glancing at Selvariel for a brief moment.
“Now I’m truly curious… how did you manage to tame her?”
“It’s simple… she knows what fate awaits her if she doesn’t obey me. And she knows that she cannot hide from me in any corner of this world,” Yuan said with a proud grin on his face. “That’s all there is to it.”
“Fascinating… so you tamed her with sheer strength and power. Absolutely amazing! You have earned my respect, Yuan.” Rhex spoke in a dignified tone, a broad smile forming on his face as he sat back on his magnificent throne.
’Is His Majesty praising him?! This is the first time I’ve ever witnessed him praise someone so openly…’ Cedric thought, stunned by the sight of the Demon Emperor praising a human.
Demon Emperor Rhex was a reserved individual who rarely praised anyone, yet there he was, praising a human he had met for the very first time.
The sight left Cedric speechless. However, the truth was undeniable—Yuan had accomplished something no ordinary human could achieve. And not just once, but twice.
A few moments later, the grand doors of the Imperial Hall swung open, and Duke Hexryn made her appearance inside the hall.
Yuan turned his head as he sensed the familiar presence, a hint of surprise appearing on his face as he saw that cunning woman once again.
’What the hell is she doing here? Is she here just to surprise us… or is there a special reason behind this?’ Yuan pondered as he watched her walk toward them with the same sly smile on her face.
She nodded toward Yuan and the others with a smile as she moved forward, then passed by them without sparing another glance.
“I, Duke Hexryn, greet His Majesty. I hope you have been well these past days.” She kneeled and bowed her head deeply, her voice filled with respect and devotion.
“Duke Hexryn, you have finally arrived. Albeit a bit late, but that is fine,” Rhex spoke as he nodded with a smile. “I am doing well. How about you? How are you managing your territory these days?”
She rose to her feet and replied with a smile. “Exceptionally well, Your Majesty. Thanks to the funding you have provided, the lives of ordinary people are steadily improving.”
“That is wonderful to hear, Duke Hexryn.” Rhex nodded, a small smile appearing on his face.
