My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 914: A Disturbing News

Chapter 914: A Disturbing News
Throughout many parts of the Demon Empire, announcements were made to inform and warn the citizens about the current situation and the looming danger hanging over their heads.
Emperor Rhex specifically ordered his minister not to hide anything from the public, as secrecy could later create a bigger problem than they could handle amidst the chaos of war.
The people began to panic and worry about their lives as soon as they heard the announcement. At first, many refused to believe it, but seeing that it had been ordered by the Demon Emperor himself, they gradually realized that this was no joke.
“T-The Undead King and his massive army are currently marching toward the border?!?!”
“T-This is impossible… why would the undead suddenly attack the Demon Empire??”
“Before, it was the Holy Church and the Heroes… and now the Undead King and his minions… Why must the people of the Demonic Continent suffer such a fate?!”
“The Undead King is coming… just hearing those words is sending chills down my entire body.”
The people’s shocked murmurs quickly filled the air. Many citizens froze where they stood after hearing the announcement, feeling their limbs go numb.
But as the reality of the situation settled in, they gradually returned to their senses, though their faces remained filled with deep concern for their safety.
The news quickly spread to every nook and cranny of the empire. Every village became aware of the situation at the border and the danger looming over them.
Each city sent people to evacuate the villagers and bring them inside for safety. Until the crisis was resolved, the villagers would have to remain within the protection of the tall city walls.
Each city also allocated empty areas within its walls to create emergency shelters for the villagers and others seeking refuge.
Emperor Rhex soon saw his wife sitting alone with a worried expression, with no one to accompany her.
As soon as she noticed his presence, she turned her head and saw Rhex entering the room with a somewhat relieved look on his face. She immediately understood that something must have gone well.
“So, how did it go? Did Yuan agree to cooperate with us and aid us in the war?” she asked, tilting her head slightly as she waited with anticipation.
“They agreed… however, they added a condition that we must fulfill when the time comes,” Rhex responded with a soft sigh.
“Oh? What kind of condition? As long as it’s not something absurd, I suppose it’s fine,” Varia raised her eyebrows slightly, curiosity evident in her voice.
After taking a deep breath, Emperor Rhex spoke, “He asked me to provide him with support when he goes to war against the gods… and his goal is to overthrow the Divine Throne of the gods.”
“What?! He wants to overthrow the Divine Throne?! Isn’t that a suicide attempt?!” Varia immediately stood up from the sofa and stared at her husband in disbelief.
“As crazy as it sounds, he was not joking. He was completely serious about it, and there was absolute confidence on his face,” Rhex replied with a weary sigh.
After a moment of silence, Emperor Rhex spoke again, “If we survive this war… we must keep our promise to him. However, only the future will tell whether we will be able to achieve our long-awaited revenge.”
“We must avenge our ancestors… and all the innocent people who lost their lives in that meaningless war… The gods must pay for the heinous crimes they have committed so far,” Varia nodded with a firm expression, sharing the same resolve.
Meanwhile, Nerith left the palace to look for Dorian and order him to increase the soldiers’ training hours, as war was approaching and every soldier needed to be prepared.
As a warrior who had fought in many battles against both people and monsters, she knew exactly what kind of war this would be.
A battle for survival—every soldier needed sufficient strength to fight against the minions of the Undead King. Their mindset had to be strong enough to face such a massive army without being overwhelmed.
The training ground was filled with soldiers, some of whom were slacking off and chatting about the earlier duel between Princess Nerith and Yuan.
“You bunch of fools! What the hell are you idling around for?! Get back to your training immediately!” Nerith’s angry voice suddenly resounded from behind them.
The soldiers were so startled by Nerith’s cold and furious voice that some of them jumped in fright while others fell onto their buttocks.
“P-Princess, what brought you back to the training ground so suddenly?” one of the soldiers asked with an awkward and fearful expression.
“I’m looking for Dorian. Where is he?” Nerith asked sternly, her face set in a serious expression.
“Princess, we haven’t seen him since your duel ended with that monstrous young man… he left the training ground hours ago,” another soldier replied immediately.
“I see… So, he is also slacking off despite such a huge danger looming over our heads. Very impressive for a master trainer…” she sneered coldly, her expression immediately turning furious.
After thinking for a moment, she said, “Since Dorian isn’t here, you should resume your training.”
“Hand this over to him when he arrives. This is a new training schedule that everyone must follow from now on. There is no place for slackers in the military—remember that.” She handed one of the soldiers a piece of paper and left the training ground, sneering coldly at everyone.
“We understand, Princess.” The soldier accepted the paper and kept it safe.
“Now return to your training. We don’t have much time. The war is upon us,” Princess Nerith said before quickly leaving the training ground.
Once she departed, the soldiers returned to their training. The danger approaching them only motivated them to train even harder.
Everyone knew how terrifying the Undead King was, not to mention the sheer number of his minions—it was more than a million, a force that could easily destroy the Demon Empire.
After returning to the palace, Nerith went to look for Yuan. Since he had defeated her so easily in a duel, he could certainly help the empire in such a dire situation.
She quickly spotted him, flirting with his wives, and the sight made her feel strange. She could feel her heartbeat quicken and her face grow warm.
’What is happening to me? Why is my body reacting so strangely when I see him? This is very weird,’ she thought as she tried to calm herself down.
Suddenly, she remembered the words her brother and sister-in-law had said to her, and it made her react even more strangely than before.
’This is too complicated… And I don’t have time to think about such things when the situation isn’t in our favor,’ she sighed and hurriedly walked toward Yuan and the others.
“So, here you are. I’ve been looking for you, Yuan. I have something to discuss with you,” Nerith said as she stopped in front of him, looking at him with a faint smile on her face.
