My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 918 918: Vast Difference

The room was soon engulfed in heavy silence. Yuan and the others remained quiet, observing Evander—the King of the Vampires—with great interest.
Nerith looked slightly tense, worried about what the Vampire King would say regarding the formation of an alliance.
After gathering his thoughts about the dangerous situation, Evander looked at Nerith with a sharp expression.
‘The imminent danger is almost unavoidable unless we form an alliance and fight together against the Undead King’s massive army…’ he thought, tension clearly visible on his face.
‘Even if we combine our strength, it will be extremely difficult to fend off such a vast number of undead soldiers… unless the other kingdoms also join the alliance,’ he continued inwardly, fully aware of the scale of the threat.
After thinking for a while, Evander took a deep breath before speaking. “Alright, Princess Nerith. We will form an alliance with your empire to defend the great border… we absolutely cannot allow the undead to cross it.”
Nerith’s eyes lit up the moment she heard these words. She felt relieved, as though a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
“Excellent, Your Majesty. Once my brother hears this good news, he will be overjoyed,” Nerith said with a polite smile.
“I am simply doing what must be done to keep my people safe. My kingdom will also be in danger once the undead cross the border—they will come after us as well,” Evander replied with a serious expression.
He continued, “Before they reach the border, we must unite and prepare for a counterattack. If we do not stand together against such a terrifying force, we will be powerless once they break through.”
“You are absolutely right, Your Majesty. It is time that we unite once again and survive this crisis,” Nerith said, nodding gently.
“Rest assured, Princess. I will soon order my soldiers to prepare for war. Since this is a war we must win to survive, I cannot simply stand by and watch.”
“That would be wonderful. Let us hope for the best,” Nerith nodded with a faint smile.
Nerith then introduced Yuan and the others to King Evander, shocking him by revealing their origins.
King Evander looked at Yuan and the others with disbelief, finding it hard to accept that these people had managed to cross the mysterious storm barrier surrounding the Demonic Continent.
Crossing that barrier was considered impossible; people did not even dare to approach it, as colossal sea monsters roamed those waters.
‘T-These people are far from ordinary… Since they managed to cross the mysterious storm barrier, they must be a force to be reckoned with,’ King Evander thought, studying Yuan and the others with a peculiar gaze.
“Young man, you are the first humans I have encountered in a thousand years,” he said while looking at Yuan with a smile. “This is quite a surprise, even for me… In the past, humans rarely dared to wander near my territory.”
“They all feared that we would capture them and suck their blood dry, leaving nothing but empty husks… You people are quite different from the rest of humanity,” he added with a faint smile, his crimson eyes glinting briefly.
“Please do not compare us with other humans… it would be an insult to do so,” Yuan replied calmly, looking straight into King Evander’s eyes.
Hearing this, both King Evander and Nerith were taken aback, staring at Yuan in surprise.
‘How could it be an insult? Aren’t they humans as well?’ Nerith wondered, puzzled.
“Oh? How would it be an insult? Aren’t you human as well?” King Evander asked, raising his brows slightly as his curiosity deepened.
Yuan took a breath, a faint smile appearing on his face as he said, “It’s quite simple, actually. We are different because there are no shackles holding us back. As for the rest of the humans, they are all bound by shackles they cannot break—even the so-called gods are bound by those very same shackles.”
“Even those so-called gods could not break these shackles. Without the knowledge required to shatter them, it would be impossible,” Yuan continued, his words so profound and mysterious that no one aside from his companions could understand their meaning.
‘What shackles is he talking about? I don’t understand a single word he said… it’s as if he’s speaking about something restraining humans—even the so-called gods!’ Nerith screamed inwardly, completely lost.
Every word Yuan had just spoken went over her head, entering one ear and leaving through the other. The only thing she truly grasped was that Yuan and the others were far from ordinary.
His words carried an unsettling depth, as though he knew something world-shaking yet had no intention of revealing it openly.
King Evander pondered for a while, trying to make sense of what Yuan meant by “shackles.” He had never heard of such a concept before, and to him, it almost sounded like meaningless rambling.
He sighed softly and said, “Yuan, I couldn’t comprehend your words just now. Could you explain more clearly so I may understand?”
“What he means is that he stands far above the rest of the humans of this world… They cannot be compared to him. If one were to try, the difference would be as vast as that between the earth and the sky,” Long Yuyan spoke calmly, not even looking at King Evander.
In her eyes, the Vampire King was nothing more than a child; the disparity in both age and strength was far too great. She did not believe that a mere vampire like him deserved her respect.
Aside from Yuan and his wives, no one else in this world was worthy of her regard. Whether king or emperor, they were all insignificant in her eyes.
Nerith and Evander looked at Long Yuyan with surprise, not expecting the difference to be described so starkly.
‘Just who is this young human? How can he be so different from the rest?’ King Evander wondered, completely puzzled by her words.
He then studied Long Yuyan more closely, especially her unique features. Her horns, eyes, and overall demeanor were unlike anyone he had ever seen.
‘Who is this woman? What kind of demi-human race does she belong to? I’ve never encountered anything like her…’ he pondered, observing her with keen interest.
“This young lady, I must admit I am confused by your appearance. Would you mind telling me what type of demi-human you are?” King Evander finally asked, unable to contain his curiosity any longer.
He also glanced at Xi Meili and Fang Xiaoyan, noticing that they, too, lacked the aura of ordinary humans.
Looking at them, he added, “And you two don’t seem to belong to any demi-human race I know either. Care to explain?”
“I’m curious about that as well but hadn’t had the chance to ask. I would very much like to know what kind of demi-humans you three are,” Nerith added, nodding gently, genuine curiosity in her eyes.
Xi Meili, Fang Xiaoyan, and Long Yuyan visibly stiffened at the question, and the atmosphere in the room suddenly turned cold.
Their eyes glowed for a brief moment, and a heavy pressure descended upon the room, suffocating in its intensity.
