My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 928: Feelings

Chapter 928: Feelings
The moon was clearly visible from the hallway as Yuan followed Isolde’s lead, her footsteps echoing softly in the silence as she moved with natural grace.
Yuan couldn’t help but notice the elegance of her figure—the curve of her waist, the confident sway of her steps, the quiet authority she carried with every movement. Everything about her was captivating, almost hypnotic.
’I have to admit…this vampire is truly beautiful…I wonder if a human and a vampire could truly walk the same path…’ Yuan thought, slightly dazed as he continued following her.
She brought him to the balcony on the top floor of the castle—her private chamber—with a breathtaking view of the lake and the distant mountains shimmering under the moonlight.
She quietly locked the door so no one could overhear their conversation or interrupt them midway.
“Please, have a seat.” She gestured with a faint smile, though her heart was pounding fiercely in her chest.
Yuan noticed the nervousness in her eyes and nodded gently before settling into the chair.
She sat opposite him, directly facing him. A faint blush crept across her cheeks as she struggled to find the right words.
She had never once considered forming a bond with a man before. Romance was foreign to her—like an uncharted battlefield she had never prepared for.
Yuan immediately sensed her hesitation and decided to ease the tension.
“So, Lady Isolde. What troubles your heart? Speak freely—I will not judge you,” Yuan said with a gentle smile, his tone calm and reassuring.
“Call me Isolde. There’s no need for formalities,” she replied softly, her voice carrying both warmth and uncertainty.
With a quiet sigh, she continued, “As for why I brought you here…I don’t even know where to begin. Everything happening to me feels unfamiliar…confusing.”
“What confusion? Tell me honestly, Isolde. Perhaps I can help you understand it,” Yuan said, studying the embarrassed look on her face.
Isolde gathered her courage. She took a slow breath and lifted her gaze to meet his.
“At first, I believed strength was everything. I wanted to break free from this continent, to crush the divine throne of the so-called gods with my own hands.”
“But when I saw you in the throne hall…something shifted. Your presence unsettled me. It stirred something in my heart—something I have ignored my entire life as if it were a weakness.”
Yuan remained silent, listening attentively, his eyes never leaving her face.
“I sensed something extraordinary in you—something far beyond my understanding. That is why I challenged you. I wanted proof that my instincts were not deceiving me.”
She paused, then continued more softly, “When I lost…I realized that perhaps I have been pursuing the wrong path. Perhaps strength alone is not everything.”
“Hmm…you sound as though you may have fallen for me, Isolde,” Yuan said lightly, a playful smile touching his lips. “Tell me…have you?”
“I—I don’t know…” she admitted, her cheeks flushing deeper. “My heart races when I look at you. I feel drawn to you in a way I cannot explain. I’ve never experienced anything like this before…”
’She’s surprisingly adorable when she’s shy,’ Yuan thought with faint amusement as he slowly rose from his seat and stepped closer to her.
“Are you certain this is not love?” he asked gently, meeting her gaze with quiet intensity rather than teasing boldness.
“I-I truly don’t know…” she whispered, unable to hold his eyes for long as her face turned a vivid shade of red.
He used Qi Manifestation to rotate the chair toward him, forcing her to face him. Their faces were now only an inch apart.
She could feel his warm breath against her skin, and the faint scent of him clouded her senses. Her heart pounded wildly in her chest, louder than ever before.
’H-He looks even more handsome up close…What is happening to me? Why is my face burning like this?’ she wondered, staring into his eyes with a dazed expression.
Yuan smirked faintly and gently cupped her cheeks before whispering, “Look into my eyes and tell me you don’t like me. If you say it, I’ll step back immediately.”
“I-I…I like you…” she whispered in return, her voice trembling as her cheeks turned crimson.
’This is so embarrassing…I’ve never said something like this to anyone before, and now I’m saying it to someone I’ve just met…how shameless of me…’ she cried inwardly, mortified by her own boldness.
A wide grin appeared on Yuan’s face the moment he heard her confession. For a brief second, he felt the urge to claim her lips immediately.
However, he restrained himself. He wasn’t in a hurry. Some moments were worth savoring.
“So you like me, huh? You know what? I like you too,” he said softly, lifting her gently from the chair with Qi Manifestation.
Isolde’s eyes widened as she suddenly found herself suspended in the air. Before she could process what was happening, Yuan pulled her into his embrace.
Her eyes remained wide in surprise as she realized she was in his arms. Instinctively, she wrapped her slender arms around his neck without even noticing.
“Isolde…do you want to be by my side?” Yuan asked, gazing into her eyes. His voice was gentle, like a quiet melody that stirred her heart.
“I-I do…” she nodded shyly, her cheeks burning as she admitted her feelings so openly.
’She’s so different from the cold woman in the arena…’ Yuan smiled inwardly.
“But I already have many women by my side. Do you truly not mind? Can you accept that part of me?” he asked honestly, hiding nothing.
“I don’t mind,” she replied softly. “I already know about them. But if you had hidden it from me, I would have been heartbroken.”
“Is that so?” Yuan asked, leaning slightly closer, their lips now only a breath apart.
Isolde looked into his eyes for a long moment before nodding gently.
’I don’t know if I will survive the coming war…Perhaps I should embrace what my heart desires now,’ she thought.
With trembling courage, she closed the distance and pressed her lips softly against his.
Yuan wrapped his arms around her waist and held her close. Her skin was cool to the touch, yet the moment felt strangely warm and comforting.
’His warmth…his embrace…why does it feel so natural?’ Isolde thought as the world around them seemed to slow.
She felt a hunger stirring within her—a vampire’s instinct—but she refused to let it ruin the moment. She didn’t want to pull away.
’Why does this feel so right…as if time itself has paused just for us?’ she wondered, her heart racing uncontrollably.
She had never been this close to a man before, yet being in Yuan’s arms felt strangely familiar—safe, even.
The kiss deepened slightly, and Yuan could feel the faint brush of her sharp fangs. It was unusual, but far less dangerous than Emma’s venomous bite.
