My Cuckhold System - Chapter 129: Misguided Tourist?

Chapter 129: Misguided Tourist?
“What do you mean it wasn’t a gang?!”
“One person went in first.”
Now genuine confusion spread.
“One person?”
“Yes… I do not know which gang he represents but he is an awakened.”
Once the guard finished speaking, the men standing around the ruin entrance immediately broke into loud laughter.
“An awakened?” one of them scoffed. “So what?”
Another spat to the side. “Greedy idiot. Going into a multi-layer ruin alone?”
Everyone there understood what that meant.
A ruin with multiple layers was far more dangerous than a regular one. Each descending floor increased both the quantity and strength of creatures inhabiting it.
And this ruin had something even worse… a hidden third layer.
That alone changed everything.
One of the gang leaders folded his arms and said confidently, “He’s dead.”
Several others nodded in agreement.
“To clear a third-layer ruin,” another man added, “you’d normally need a Tier 2 Awakened leading several powerful Tier 1s.”
“Exactly,” someone else laughed. “And that fool went in alone.”
The groups quickly came to a mutual understanding.
A third layer meant something else besides danger… lots of loot.
One of the gang leaders stepped forward.
“We all know the third layer will be massive. There’ll be creatures everywhere… and treasures too.”
He glanced at the others.
“Instead of fighting each other outside, we go in together.”
Another leader smirked.
“And split the loot?”
“As long as it’s fair.”
A few moments passed and then, they all nodded one after the other.
“Deal.”
With their temporary alliance formed, the gang members began preparing their weapons and equipment before moving.
Groups of awakeners descended through the ruin entrance, disappearing into the darkness of the underground structure as they headed toward the third layer.
Soon the area outside the ruin grew quiet again.
Only the guards remained.
One of the younger guards looked at the man who had told the gangs about West entering earlier.
“…Why didn’t you mention the other person who snuck in after him?”
The guard shrugged casually.
“Who knows who that was?”
He leaned against the wall lazily.
“Probably some misguided tourist.”
The younger guard frowned slightly.
“You think they’ll survive?”
The older guard snorted.
“In a third-layer ruin?”
He shook his head.
“If an awakened can’t survive there themselves, then a regular person is most likely already dead.”
“There was no point mentioning it.”
—
Not far from the ruin entrance, hidden behind a large rock formation, Nina stood silently.
She had been watching everything and listening. What she heard made her heart sink.
“…dead already…”
The words echoed repeatedly in her mind as her fingers tightened around her phone.
“No…”
She quickly unlocked it and dialed West’s number.
Unfortunately, it didn’t go through.
Nina frowned and tried again but still it was pointless.
A small message suddenly appeared on her screen.
No Signal.
Her expression stiffened.
“…Of course.”
Being deep underground meant the ruin likely blocked all outside signals.
Her grip on the phone tightened slightly as her worry increased. How was she supposed to contact him now?
Her chest tightened increasingly.
“…West…”
—
Meanwhile, deep within the third layer of the ruin, West stood in the middle of a vast cavern as the ground trembled…
Grrruuhhllllll~
A deep rumble spread across the cavern as cracks began spreading across the stone floor nearby.
West’s eyes sharpened as a section of the western cavern wall suddenly collapsed inward.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
The sounds that followed echoed throughout the chamber like thunder.
West tilted his head slightly toward the collapsed section.
His brows slowly furrowed.
“…Those aren’t explosions.”
The rhythmic thunderous noises were far too consistent.
In the next moment, realization dawned on him.
“…Footsteps.”
A massive silhouette slowly emerged from the collapsing stone dust.
When the creature finally became fully visible, even West’s expression hardened slightly.
It was enormous with a height of fourteen feet.
Its body was incredibly muscular, wihth a strange smooth grayish looking skin.
Its limbs were an eerie metallic blue, reflecting the cavern’s light like forged steel.
Part of its face was covered by a strange armored plating, almost like a mask fused directly to its flesh…
And all of its eyes… glowed a different color.
Red…
Yellow…
Green…
Purple…
Four glowing eyes stared down at West with terrifying intensity.
Behind the creature, more of the four feet figures appeared.
They were over twenty in number this time, surrounding the strange throne positioned at the center of the cavern.
The being seated upon the throne leaned slightly forward, observing West with cold interest and then spoke with that strange tongue once more.
But the system within West’s mind immediately translated the intent.
『 “…Butcher.” 』
The creature on the throne lifted a finger slightly and pointed at West.
『 “Get him.” 』
The fourteen-foot monster immediately began moving.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Each step shook the cavern floor as it charged toward West.
At the same time, the twenty smaller creatures screeched and rushed forward.
West’s gaze swept across the battlefield in a split second and made a decision.
“Verdant Pyre Behemoths.”
The massive flaming beasts behind him roared and charged forward to intercept the swarm of smaller creatures.
The cavern instantly erupted into chaos as claws, fire, and monstrous screeches filled the air.
However, West focused entirely on the giant approaching him.
The creature raised its massive arm and then swung downward.
The fist descended like a falling boulder but West did not dodge.
Instead, he stepped forward and threw his own punch.
BOOM!!
The collision was catastrophic.
A small shockwave erupted outward as their fists collided, sending cracks spider-webbing across the stone floor beneath them.
For a split second, the entire cavern seemed to tremble before West was sent flying.
His body shot backward through the air before crashing across the ground and sliding dozens of feet.
Stone shattered beneath him as he finally came to a stop.
West slowly pushed himself back onto his feet with his eyes narrowing slightly.
There was no doubt that ever since increasing his sub-stats, his physical capabilities had risen dramatically but this thing… was on a different level.
A thin layer of frost had spread across the arm he used to clash with the creature.
The cold crept along his skin like creeping ice.
West clicked his tongue and without hesitation he placed that arm against the ground.
Specifically—
Onto the blazing footprints left behind by the Verdant Pyre Behemoths as they fought nearby.
The flames quickly melted the ice causing steam to hiss as the frost evaporated.
Despite that, his arm felt slightly numb.
West rolled his shoulder.
“…Just like the others?”
Before he could analyze further—
BOOM!
The creature charged again with a speed that was ridiculously fast for something its size.
West moved this time.
He swerved sharply to the side as the massive fist slammed into the ground where he had been standing.
The impact shattered stone and sent debris flying everywhere.
West stepped in during the opening and his fist shot forward.
BAM!
The punch landed squarely against the creature’s torso but the impact felt strange.
It was like punching solid metal.
The creature slid back several feet from the force, yet it barely reacted.
West’s brows furrowed slightly.
“…Tough.”
His punch was definitely strong enough to move it but he hadn’t truly hurt it due to its durability.
The creature slowly lifted its head locking onto West once again with its multicolored eyes as its lips curled into something resembling a cruel smile.
