- Chapter 138 99: Critical Hit! Jiangg Yao's Divine Performance, Almost a Complete Victory

BANG—
The tightly shut front door was thrown open. Jiangg Ning stormed in, arms crossed, and immediately saw Jiangg Yao sitting on the sofa.
Hearing the door open, Jiangg Yao turned her head as well. She was sitting cross-legged on the sofa, her expression just as cold.
The two locked eyes, and they could almost see the tangible… killing intent in each other’s gazes!
In this scene, the identical-looking sisters seemed poised for a life-or-death duel. The standoff before the clash was as beautiful as a painting. A gentle breeze rustled outside the window; apart from the sound of the wind, the living room was so quiet you wouldn’t dare breathe.
It was as if everything around them had frozen, sketched by an artist and confined within a frame, with only the two of them remaining vibrantly alive.
Jiangg Ning had slept in comfortably until eleven. After waking up at Chen Yuan’s place and eating the porridge he had prepared, the warmth in her stomach and the sweetness in her heart brought her back to life.
After some careful thought, she realized her sister had been leading her by the nose, guiding her into a trap of flawed thinking.
Looking back now, Jiangg Yao’s words were full of holes and couldn’t stand up to scrutiny.
If Chen Yuan didn’t like her and only thought she was her sister, then why did he always look at her with such affection? His actions couldn’t be explained either. Besides, anyone could tell the huge difference in personality between the two sisters.
How could Jiangg Yao be so sure that Chen Yuan liked the younger sister and not the older one?
There was no answer to that question—not unless they both laid their cards on the table, went to Chen Yuan, and heard from his own mouth who he truly liked!
She had believed Jiangg Yao so easily because she had witnessed their sweet moments firsthand, making her feel guilty, like she was the one butting in. But she had met Chen Yuan first… On what grounds was *she* the other woman?
It was entirely possible that Jiangg Yao had twisted the truth, pretending to be her to get her way!
Jiangg Ning understood now. Her heart felt clear and bright, and the pessimism that had plagued her for the past two weeks vanished. She was now incredibly confident, a confidence born from the words Chen Yuan had whispered in her ear.
…
Jiangg Yao looked at her sister, the fury in her heart burning hotter and hotter. Her sister had gone back on her word again, just like with the breakup. She’d actually changed her mind and backstabbed her.
Last night, she had been forced to watch the man she loved being shamelessly possessed by someone else.
And she had been powerless to do anything.
The feeling was heart-wrenching, something she would never forget for the rest of her life. It would probably leave a psychological scar. That accidental kiss in the restaurant had already made her feel like she was being cheated on.
She couldn’t let it go for a long time. It bothered her immensely whenever she was with Chen Yuan, and she’d been wanting to get even.
And now, it was happening again!!??
That absolute… bastard!
The more Jiangg Yao thought about it, the more her heart turned to ice. She’d like to see how her sister was going to explain herself!
The older and younger sister were deeply dissatisfied with each other, a fact made clear by the cold glint in their eyes. This battle was inevitable.
…
WHOOSH!
Jiangg Yao grabbed a pillow and hurled it with all her might, sending it flying straight at her sister.
The light pillow whistled through the air, and if it hit someone in the head, it would surely make them stagger back a few steps.
But Jiangg Ning’s hand shot out, and she snatched the pillow out of the air.
Lowering the pillow, she continued to stare coldly at her sister.
“Why didn’t you dodge?” Jiangg Yao demanded, her pretty brows furrowing.
“Because I wasn’t afraid.”
Jiangg Ning tossed the pillow aside with a cold smile and walked gracefully toward her. Although her makeup was ruined and she hadn’t done her skincare routine that morning, leaving her looking haggard, her aura was still powerful.
The younger sister had dark circles under her eyes, her face was pale, her hair was a mess, and her pajama bottoms were askew, shifted to the left. Yet her aura was just as powerful.
And yet, both sisters were supremely confident, each seeing the other as a disheveled mess while viewing herself as pristine. They completely ignored the fact that they had the exact same face as the person they were looking at.
In thinking the other was “so ugly,” they were, in fact, insulting themselves.
Twins are just that weird…
“Get over here and kneel!” Jiangg Yao snapped.
“???”
‘Who do you think you’re talking to, you little brat?’ Jiangg Ning’s eyes widened in astonishment. This was utterly audacious; her younger sister had just said the very words she had been about to say.
“Why should I kneel?” she asked, baffled.
“The Jiangg Family rules! If you don’t come home for the night, you have to kneel for two hours and aren’t allowed to eat!”
“You’re quoting family rules at me? Mom’s not here. Besides, I had my reasons for not coming home.”
“Ooh~” Jiangg Yao put on a cheeky grin, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “And what reasons are those~? Tell your little sister. Whose house did you sleep at last night?”
“I’ll sleep wherever I want to sleep. But you, Jiangg Yao! I trusted you again and again, and how did you repay me? I’m so disappointed in you.”
“You’re disappointed *again*? Why are you always so disappointed? You’re so high-maintenance! I haven’t even said I’m disappointed in you, and you’re already pulling this routine on me!”
“Hah. What right does a liar have to criticize others? If I were you, I’d be too ashamed to speak,” Jiangg Ning retorted with a laugh born of fury, looking down on her sister.
“Don’t make me laugh. Look at Miss Indecisive trying to lecture someone. A person who can’t even make up her own mind is trying to school others. I’m dying.” Jiangg Yao covered her mouth, her shoulders shaking, perfectly capturing the essence of a manipulative little schemer.
It was enough to make her sister half-dead with anger.
Seeing her act like this, Jiangg Ning gritted her teeth. She couldn’t hold it in any longer. Stepping forward, she pointed at her sister and demanded, “Why did you lie to me? Don’t you think your methods are despicable??? It’s disgusting. Now I see just how unscrupulous you can be.”
“Which time? Lying to you is too easy. It takes no effort at all. You’ll have to be more specific,” Jiangg Yao said nonchalantly, picking at her fingernails.
This attitude stunned her older sister. She had thought exposing Jiangg Yao would make her feel ashamed, but there wasn’t a trace of shame on her face.
Clearly, she felt no guilt whatsoever.
“Why didn’t you tell me Chen Yuan lives next door? Why did you lie and say Chen Yuan likes you? And why, why did you have to use such vile methods to hurt your own sister! I trusted you so much… Is this how you repay me?”
Jiangg Ning’s voice grew sharper with each word, her emotions reaching a peak. Before she could make Jiangg Yao cry, her own eyes began to well up with tears.
“I was surprised at first that Chen Yuan lived next door too. That wasn’t something I could control… And I didn’t lie about Chen Yuan liking me. He really does like me a lot.”
For once, Jiangg Yao didn’t say anything nasty. Feeling a slight pang of guilt, she offered a couple of excuses.
“Then what was your basis for saying he doesn’t like me? What gave you the right to say that?”
“I guessed.”
“You guessed!?” Jiangg Ning grabbed a nearby pillow and slammed it down on her sister’s head, landing a critical hit. “Do you have any idea what I’ve been through these past two weeks? When you were being all sweet with him, did you ever stop to think how heartbroken your sister was?”
“If you were so heartbroken, then why did you choose to abandon him in the first place!” Her sister, backed into a corner, retorted fiercely, grabbing a pillow and brandishing it just as her sister had done.
“I…”
“Go on, say it! You can’t, can you!”
“With something like that, you have to be sure of your own heart… It’s normal to hesitate.”
“So you hesitate and you just abandon someone? You hesitate and you just lead them on and dump them? When you were feeling sad, did you ever consider whether Chen Yuan was sad?”
The fatal triple-question made Jiangg Ning’s face turn pale in an instant.
She really hadn’t considered it.
In fact, Jiangg Yao had been on Chen Yuan’s side back then. She had even heard her crying in the car, saying, “Chen Yuan must be so heartbroken.”
“You’re not just hurting Chen Yuan. You even did… *that kind of thing* with him when you weren’t even back together. Do you think that’s appropriate? Jiangg Ning, aren’t you supposed to be so proper? Where did all your propriety go?”
As Jiangg Yao spoke, tears streamed from the corners of her eyes, and her voice began to choke.
“I don’t care how many lies I told or what methods I used. At least I always stood by his side. Based on that alone, I’m more worthy than you!” she said.
Jiangg Ning froze, suddenly at a loss for a rebuttal.
But her sister’s verbal assault continued.
“Do I need to repeat what you did last night? I saw it with my own eyes! You were straddling him, your hands all over him, your mouth kissing him everywhere! It’s disgusting! I don’t even want to… I don’t even want to talk about you!”
“Always acting so pure and innocent on the surface… Who’s better at… at taking the moral high ground than you?”
“I hate people like you the most. In your eyes, you’re the only one who’s good.”
Jiangg Yao choked out the words, one after another.
Jiangg Ning finally processed what she was saying, her expression turning ugly. “You saw everything?”
“Yes, I saw it!”
“I was drunk… I wasn’t in control of my actions when I was drunk…” The older sister looked away, not daring to meet her sister’s gaze as she lowered her head slightly.
“Then can I get drunk too? Can I go find Chen Yuan every night and do the exact same things as you? I’d have an… excuse. I’ll go tonight. I’ll go right now!”
“Are you insane!?”
“I am insane! Anything you can do, I can do too! And I can do it… better than you! Do you have any idea how much pain I was in when I came back last night?”
After saying this, Jiangg Yao completely broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.
At that moment, watching her, Jiangg Ning’s own defenses crumbled.
That morning, she had been filled with righteous fury, ready to confront her.
But hearing Jiangg Yao’s words, she suddenly felt the whole thing was meaningless. In a way, she and her sister were suffering the same pain.
How could pain be measured as greater or lesser…?
Watching her cry, Jiangg Ning felt awful. For the man she loved, her younger sister truly seemed to have given so, so much.
At least, more than she had.
She had to admit that.
She had originally planned to give her a beating, but now, Jiangg Ning reached out and hugged her.
“Alright… Yaoyao, don’t cry…”
“Sis…”
“I’m here. I was wrong about last night. I’m sorry, okay…?”
“Okay,” Jiangg Yao said, lifting her tear-filled face to look at her sister. “Then will you stay away from Chen Yuan from now on?”
“In your dreams! If you want to cry, then go ahead and cry your heart out!”
Jiangg Ning abruptly let go of her sister’s shoulders and took two wary steps back.
And Jiangg Yao’s sobbing stopped on a dime. In an instant, she reined it in, even as tears still clung to her cheeks.
“You’ve improved. That trick doesn’t work on you anymore.”
“Heh. Let’s lay it all out, Yaoyao. I think it’s time we had a proper talk.”
