My Professions Have Too Much Personality - Chapter 106 - 98: The Path of the Purifier

Chapter 106: Chapter 98: The Path of the Purifier
Just before they reached their destination, Bu Siqi finally asked, “Is there anything else I can help you with, Junior Brother?”
“Hmm…” Su Chen thought for a moment. “The potions I use for training are almost gone. I’ve got about twenty thousand gold I can spare. Could I trouble you to buy some for me, Senior Brother?”
Bu Siqi’s expression didn’t change when he heard the first part of the request. But when Su Chen mentioned he would pay, he smiled and asked, “What kind of potions do you use?”
“Right now, I’m using Tier Two Mist Poison Potions and Tier Two Illusion Essences.” As he spoke, Su Chen took out a black dagger—another piece of loot from Pan Yu that he couldn’t easily sell in Southwind. “Add this to the pot.”
“Hmm… This weapon is probably worth sixty or seventy thousand. I’d guess you can get about seven or eight vials of each…” Bu Siqi took the dagger, weighed it in his hand, and mused, “That’s probably not enough for your needs. I’ll do my best to get you a decent amount, but don’t blame me if it’s less than you hope for.”
Brotherhood was one thing; if Su Chen had tried to get a free handout, Bu Siqi would have politely refused. But since Su Chen looked like he was putting everything he had on the line, he was willing to help where he could.
“Of course not,” Su Chen said quickly. “I appreciate you going to the trouble. Could you also help me find an E-level Meditation Technique?”
“That’s simple enough.” Bu Siqi nodded. “Anything else?”
Su Chen studied him for a moment. Seeing that he was serious, he added, “Could you also keep an eye out for any news about Fog Nightmare Pearls?”
“Fog Nightmare Pearls?” Bu Siqi looked surprised but nodded. “Potions, a Meditation Technique, and Fog Nightmare Pearls. All right, I’ve got it.”
After watching Bu Siqi leave, Su Chen returned to his hotel and stepped into the elevator. ’Once I get into the Judicial Court, I should start receiving resource allocations.’
’Regular members, Inner Court Seeds… The higher my status, the more resources I’ll probably be allocated. The benefits will be different, too. It’ll also give me a better shot at finding clues about the Great Venerable Red Flame Thunder Resonator.’
’Mo Cui…’ Su Chen couldn’t help but think. ’I also need to focus on the Saint profession. If I can successfully take on that role, my Spirit Talent should break through the Red Gold level and reach the Ink Jade Level.’
’An impossible requirement… Elder Sang made it sound so extreme. Just how difficult can it be?’
After a night of light training, Su Chen headed to the Translation Department again early the next morning.
“You’re here?” Sang Hanhai wasn’t surprised to see Su Chen; it was as if he had been expecting him.
He immediately beckoned him over to the workbench, where a nearby monitor flickered with a constant stream of symbols.
“…Using the information you provided, I’ve managed to decipher a bit more.” Sang Hanhai pointed to the characters on the screen, which Su Chen couldn’t understand. “I surmise that one of the complete requirements is a Tier Two Top Mental Profession.”
“Top-tier?” Su Chen feigned surprise, but inwardly, he was thinking, ’This Elder Sang really knows his stuff. He got the keywords and cracked it overnight.’
“That’s right.” Sang Hanhai nodded, his eyes alight with excitement. “And I have a pretty good guess as to what this profession does. It most likely involves creating a Dimensional Space, using a spiritual imprint as the key, allowing one to store and retrieve items at will.”
“A Personal Space!?” Su Chen was even more astonished. “A profession like that actually exists?”
“Professions are a weird and wonderful bunch. There’s plenty more that will surprise you in the future,” Sang Hanhai said, looking quite pleased with himself. He then added, “But we made such fast progress thanks to the supplementary information you provided.”
“For now, we’ve confirmed two of the requirements: a Space Crystal and a Tier Two Top Mental Profession.”
At this point, Sang Hanhai’s brow furrowed. “Normally, at this stage, we could recruit volunteers from various organizations to attempt a forced induction into the profession.”
“If someone succeeds, it becomes much easier to deduce the remaining requirements.”
“However…” He sounded resigned. “This profession requires not only a Space Crystal but also a Tier Two Top-tier Profession. Anyone who meets those conditions is a precious asset. A forced induction is risky, so there’s no way they’d let me experiment on someone like that.”
As he said this, his gaze fell upon Su Chen.
“Not me…” Su Chen shook his head repeatedly. “I’m only Tier Two Upper. I don’t meet the requirement.”
“An Upper Tier might still have a chance,” Sang Hanhai said, his tone laced with temptation. “Even if you only barely manage to succeed, it would grant you unparalleled convenience. It’s like a personal satchel that no one else can see, one that only you can access.”
“The thought alone is exciting.”
“You’d better find someone more qualified,” Su Chen said, showing no interest.
’If I actually agreed, the attempt would be made under public scrutiny, probably with all sorts of monitoring equipment involved.’
“Tsk…” Sang Hanhai sighed. “Then I suppose we’ll just have to keep deciphering it bit by bit.”
Then, a smile returned to his face. “I have to admit, I’m getting impatient. After all, the versatility of a profession like this is off the charts.”
“Let me give it a try,” Su Chen said. “Maybe I’ll be able to resonate with it again today.”
“Haha…” Sang Hanhai couldn’t help but laugh. “You’ve already resonated twice in a row. The chances of a third time are incredibly low.”
“But what if I do succeed? If that happens, could you give me the information on the Saint profession?” Su Chen said, seizing the opportunity.
“The Saint profession? You’re still hung up on that…” Sang Hanhai shot him a look. “You just don’t give up, do you?”
Su Chen gave a sheepish smile. Sang Hanhai shook his head but said, “The Saint is a sealed profession. Under normal circumstances, it can’t be shown to anyone. I can, however, access it. Are you sure you want it?”
“I’m sure,” Su Chen replied at once.
“…Xia Hanshi, oh, Xia Hanshi…” Sang Hanhai shook his head and glanced at Su Chen. “If that’s how it is, then let’s see if fate is willing to grant it to you.”
“If you can manage to resonate with it again today, then I’ll pull up the file on the Saint profession for you.”
Sang Hanhai had left the choice to fate.
Su Chen took a deep breath, his expression gradually turning placid as he appeared to adjust his mental state.
Sang Hanhai shook his head to himself. ’Resonating with the Holy Word Stone follows no discernible pattern. It has nothing to do with one’s state of mind.’
