My Professions Have Too Much Personality - Chapter 64: Confronting Zhou Xian

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Confronting Zhou Xian
[Special Profession discovered—Believer. Believes in oneself. No requirements to take this profession.]
“So I completely shattered its faith?” Su Chen rubbed his nose, clicking his tongue in amazement. “Well, it held on for this many days, at least. Pretty good.”
Su Chen hesitated for a moment, then chose to take the profession.
’Believe in myself, huh? I wonder what special abilities it comes with.’
This time, taking the profession caused almost no physical changes. A notification just popped up on his panel.
[Believer profession acquired. Gained Professional Ability—Unbeliever: Can disguise as other Believers.]
[Currently able to disguise as [Black Tuo Follower]. Upon successful disguise, you can obtain new Professional Abilities and acquire more Believer professions to devour and disguise yourself as.]
’It can even do that?’
Su Chen exclaimed in amazement again, “This profession is pretty interesting.”
Quite curious, he immediately tried to activate the disguise.
[Believer (Black Tuo Follower)—Master is Black Tuo: As a Black Tuo Follower, you can faintly sense the presence of other Black Tuo Followers, as well as certain items related to Black Tuo.]
“That’s it?” Su Chen frowned slightly, but then he felt a chill on the top of his head. He reached up to touch it and was instantly shocked. “Where’s my hair?”
He ran to the bathroom to look. His appearance had changed drastically. He was now bald, with a black, vertical pupil mark on top of his head.
“Fuck, my hair.” Su Chen hurriedly canceled the disguise. The next moment, his hair returned to normal.
“So it really is just a disguise…” He finally breathed a sigh of relief, his mind racing with possibilities. He muttered, “This gives me another ace in the hole. If I really run into Black Tuo Followers, I can just become one of them.”
“No, that’s not right. These cults all treat their lower-ranking members as cannon fodder. Becoming one of them isn’t necessarily a good thing.”
“Too bad this profession came from transforming a Black Tuo Follower’s. I can’t teach it to anyone else.”
He switched back to the [Black Tuo Follower] disguise and focused on the new sensations. Suddenly, he snapped his head to the southwest, a look of suspicion and uncertainty on his face. ’There’s something in that direction… it feels like it’s pulling me.’
Su Chen hadn’t expected the feeling to be so distinct.
’Should I…?’ he calculated, his eyes darting slightly.
When night fell, he took out the Shadow-avoiding Robe and put it on, then fastened the Mimic Mask. Wisps of wind enveloped him as Wind Concealing Shadow activated. He then used his Mental Shield ability. Even under direct light, his entire figure was nearly invisible.
He slipped out the window and hid nearby. After waiting for a long time, no one came looking for him.
’Did Zhang Hongbo not send anyone to watch this place, or did my Concealment fool them?’
Su Chen frowned slightly. In a few flickers, he vanished into the night.
Following the sensation, Su Chen arrived near an ordinary residence in the outer city.
But he didn’t advance rashly, nor did he switch to his [Black Tuo Follower] disguise to blend in. He simply sensed it from the perimeter to confirm the direction.
Then, he took out his Wristband and cautiously contacted Fatty Sun.
“Yes, I’m sure…”
“Bring your men. Don’t say it came from me. Just say it was your own source…”
After ending the communication, he concealed his presence and waited on the outskirts.
’Sense Black Tuo Followers and items related to Black Tuo…’ Su Chen pondered. ’It’s impossible for all the Black Tuo Followers to be gathered here. What led me here must be some kind of item.’
An hour or two later, several Inspection Airships landed silently in the distance. Fully armed Inspector Guards filed out, led by Fatty Sun and the Patrol Section Chief, Qin Cheng.
But before he could finish deploying his men, his expression changed drastically. He looked toward the target building as black figures swarmed out like fleas, leaping off in all directions.
“The intel was leaked!” Sun Tai’s face was grim as he made a decisive call. “Move out! Kill on sight, no captures!”
WHOOSH!
The fat on his body jiggling, Sun Tai moved with the speed of a startled rabbit, charging straight for the strongest target with Qin Cheng.
Su Chen watched cautiously from a distance. ’Looks like there’s still a mole in the Inspectorate, but their rank must be low if the warning only just got out.’
’However…’ His gaze shifted to another direction.
Qin Cheng and Sun Tai were chasing the most powerful figures in the group, but Su Chen could sense that the object pulling him was not in that direction.
Instead, it was heading in the opposite direction.
“Pretty smart,” Su Chen grinned and silently followed.
The target wasn’t moving very fast, sticking to the desolate parts of the outer city. Su Chen quickly caught up, knocking out a few Tier One Inspector Guards along the way.
SWOOSH!
A shadow suddenly descended. The Black Tuo Follower clutching a metal box stopped in his tracks, staring at him with a cold and suspicious expression.
Su Chen took off his Shadow-avoiding Robe, revealing the iconic bald head. The man’s expression relaxed. “You really are one of us. Did the Priest send you?”
’Priest?’ Su Chen’s expression flickered. He deliberately lowered his voice and nodded. “That’s right.”
“The holy relic is in here. You should be able to feel it. Take it.”
The follower let his guard down completely and handed the box over.
’It feels good to be trusted,’ Su Chen mused, reaching out to take the metal box.
With a flick of his hand, the Cyan Rope swept out. A head fell to the ground, its owner’s pupils slowly dilating in shock.
’I wonder what’s inside this thing?’ Su Chen gave the box a brief look. Just as he was about to toss it into his Storage Space, he froze.
He looked up toward the end of the dark alley, where two figures stood.
“The Priest sent others, too?” one of them asked, seeming a little puzzled.
Su Chen’s heart skipped a beat. That voice… he knew it all too well. It was Zhou Xian!
’Shit,’ he cursed inwardly. ’I didn’t expect this guy to show up, and definitely not this fast.’
“Give me the box,” Zhou Xian said, holding out his hand. His tone was indifferent; the headless corpse on the ground wasn’t enough to make him wary.
The Believer next to him had already confirmed that the man was one of them, and as for infighting, it was common within the Deceitful God Sect.
“The Priest sent us, too,” the Black Tuo Follower beside him helpfully explained. “This friend is very strong. It would be better for us to take it.”
“I understand,” Su Chen said in a low voice, slowly walking over. Only then did he notice that Zhou Xian was missing an arm. His life aura was faint, and it seemed his injuries hadn’t yet healed.
’Why does his build seem so familiar?’
Zhou Xian’s brow furrowed slightly as he watched the man approach and reach out to take the metal box.
Su Chen reached out to hand it over, but the Spiritual Power in his mind was already surging, condensing into a needle that he viciously stabbed toward his target.
HUM!
Su Chen felt a throbbing pain in his head; his Spiritual Power had felt like it slammed into a stone wall. The gap between them was too vast—Zhou Xian’s Spiritual Resilience was extremely high.
But he was, after all, still heavily injured.
“Hm?” Zhou Xian felt a prick, as if from a needle, and was dazed for a moment. By the time he recovered, a Cyan Rope was already whipping toward his face, carrying the force of a raging gale—it was incredibly fast!
“You’re courting death!” Zhou Xian’s face twisted in fury. Arcs of lightning flashed in his pupils as fierce electricity erupted from his body.
