My Professions Have Too Much Personality - Chapter 81: Truly Rampaging with Impunity

Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Truly Rampaging with Impunity
On the top floor of the Inspectorate, Zhang Hongbo, Yang Yan, and Gu Bing were gathered.
“You two can’t just stay silent.” Zhang Hongbo’s face was etched with unprecedented anxiety as he paced back and forth. “Think of something! A large-scale screening is like finding a needle in a haystack. We won’t find any clues in a short amount of time.”
“If this continues, the entirety of Southwind City will be destroyed! Who knows how many people will become refugees!”
“Enough,” Yang Yan snapped angrily. “Aren’t you just afraid of being punished by the Judicial Court if something goes wrong? What’s all this nonsense about refugees?”
“A Deceitful God Priest is a Tier Four Professional at the very least, with bizarre methods. Even if you keep rushing us, there’s nothing we can do.”
“Only a few of us came this time. Who knew your Southwind was already rotten to this degree!”
The three of them fell silent. Gu Bing’s face was full of sorrow. “No one expected Black Tuo to commit so many resources. We thought this was just a routine sweep.”
“If it weren’t for the evidence suggesting that the previously lost Space Crystal might have ended up in Southwind, Judge Xia probably wouldn’t have even come.”
Zhang Hongbo was also completely helpless. He cursed the Deceitful God’s Followers, wondering what Southwind City had that was worth coveting enough to dispatch a Priest.
Just as the three of them were at their wits’ end, a knock suddenly sounded at the door.
’What’s he doing here?’ Zhang Hongbo glanced up. Through the Life Magnetic Field, he already knew who it was.
“Come in!” His expression became composed, as calm as an ancient well.
“City Lord, something terrible has happened!” Sun Tai rushed in, drenched in sweat. He and Yang Yan froze upon seeing each other.
But he still remembered Gu Bing and guessed that these two must be special envoys from Ying Feng.
“What is it?!” Zhang Hongbo’s heart tightened.
“Someone is attacking Su Chen!” Sun Tai said urgently.
Yang Yan and Gu Bing immediately looked over.
“Attacking Su Chen?” Zhang Hongbo paused, thinking something had gone wrong in Southwind City itself.
Then, he felt something was off. He activated his Wristband and saw no new messages.
“Where did you get this information?” Zhang Hongbo asked with a frown.
“Su Chen told me,” Sun Tai said. He was anxious but had no choice but to explain.
“Su Chen told you that he was *about* to be attacked?” Zhang Hongbo’s frown deepened.
Sun Tai froze. The moment he received Su Chen’s message, he had panicked and rushed to find Zhang Hongbo. Now that he heard him say it, he also found it a bit strange.
Sun Tai couldn’t help but say, “Maybe Su Chen is just sharp and sensed the danger in advance. Ah… Lord City Lord, I’ve already sent Elder Du over. I hope you can dispatch more…”
The Vice Minister of Inspection had acted without his orders. Out of instinct, Zhang Hongbo felt a flash of irritation.
BEEP—BEEP—
His Wristband finally buzzed. He looked down, and his expression changed slightly, a strange and awkward look appearing on his face—part helpless, part melancholy.
“What’s wrong?” Gu Bing couldn’t help but ask.
“Elder Xia… is with Su Chen.” Zhang Hongbo sat back down and sighed.
Gu Bing gave a wry smile. “As expected of Elder Xia. He found him after all.”
Yang Yan closed his eyes and sighed.
Fatty Sun looked completely lost. He just saw Zhang Hongbo wave his hand and say, “Su Chen is fine. No need to worry.”
“Oh, oh…” Sun Tai hadn’t processed it yet, his mind still racing with confusion.
…
“You’re asking about the source of the fog?”
Su Chen’s head was spinning. He swayed as he stood up straight, a blast of cold wind hitting his face.
Looking left and right, he realized he was on the roof of the Inspectorate building. He gasped. ’That was way too fast.’
Xia Hanshi glanced at him, increasingly amazed. “To think someone is still curious about such a question.”
Su Chen felt it was an odd reaction. ’Isn’t it normal to be curious about this…?’
’Uh… maybe not.’ He then realized that the reason he was curious was because he had lived in a world without fog in his past life.
He was naturally curious about this situation, but for the inhabitants of this world, this was just how the world was. Who would be curious about that?
’If someone were to transmigrate to his previous world, they might be curious as to why there was no fog.’
“I don’t know. Probably somewhere deep in the starry sky,” Xia Hanshi answered casually.
“Deep in the starry sky?” Su Chen instinctively looked up. The sky above was pitch-black, with only the dim light from artificial sources.
Those words seemed to carry some kind of different meaning.
“Let’s go.” Xia Hanshi was already heading down the stairs, and Su Chen hurried to follow.
…
“Younger Brother Su!”
The restless Sun Tai shouted in pleasant surprise when he saw Su Chen walk through the office door and quickly rushed over.
He patted him all over. “Brother, are you okay? Are you hurt?”
Su Chen subtly shifted to the side, shrugging off Sun Tai’s chubby hand, and shook his head. “I’m fine.”
“That’s good, that’s good.” Sun Tai let out a sigh of relief. “If something had happened to you, I don’t know how I would’ve explained it to the Minister.”
The moment the words left his mouth, he felt a shiver run down his spine.
Only then did he notice the withered, stooped old man following behind Su Chen.
’It’s him!’
A chill went through Sun Tai. He had met this man not long ago when he came looking for him to investigate some matters, carrying a badge from the Yingfeng Judicial Court.
He remembered the man’s aura vividly.
Xia Hanshi walked straight past him.
“Elder Xia.”
A unified greeting came from behind him.
Sun Tai turned to look and realized that the three of them—the envoys from Ying Feng and Zhang Hongbo—had all risen to their feet with respectful expressions.
’So his surname is Xia, and his status seems to be quite high.’
Xia Hanshi was expressionless as he scanned the three of them, his gaze finally landing on Yang Yan.
Without any visible movement from him, the cool, white-haired man’s face paled, and he spat out a mouthful of hot blood, staggering backward.
Gu Bing’s heart went cold. She felt a sharp pain in her abdomen and was sent flying, letting out a wail as she too coughed up a mouthful of blood.
“This is for bad-mouthing the Chief Judge behind his back. Fair enough, wouldn’t you say?” Xia Hanshi said lightly.
’Ch-Ch-Chief Judge?’
Sun Tai’s eyes widened, and the room seemed to spin. He had never been in the presence of such a monumental figure.
’He just attacked them like that?’ Su Chen didn’t know what to think.
“I deserved it.” Yang Yan wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth without making any excuses.
“The punishment is fair.” Gu Bing forced herself to stand up.
Then, Xia Hanshi’s gaze shifted to Zhang Hongbo.
BANG!
Flames erupted around Zhang Hongbo’s body, and he was sent flying backward, slamming into the wall before collapsing to the ground and vomiting a large mouthful of blood.
“Who gave you permission to use my student as bait?” Xia Hanshi’s gaze was glacial.
’Student?’ Sun Tai, standing nearby, was completely bewildered. ’What student? Who?’
Yang Yan and Gu Bing had ’I-knew-it’ expressions on their faces. They looked at Su Chen with complicated emotions, tinged with a hint of pity.
’Old Zhang, it really wasn’t my idea,’ Su Chen thought to himself. But seeing Zhang Hongbo’s pale face, he felt a certain satisfaction.
But when he saw the look in their eyes, he was speechless. ’Why are they looking at me like I’ve already got one foot in the grave?’
’He even hit the City Lord?’ Sun Tai was scared silent, his mind a chaotic mess, not daring to make a sound.
Zhang Hongbo propped himself up and staggered to his feet. Although he was a Mental Professional, he had also dabbled in physical Profession paths when he was younger, but he hadn’t reached a high rank—only Tier Two.
This time, he was seriously injured. The pain in his organs was excruciating, and he looked as if a gust of wind could knock him over.
Zhang Hongbo swallowed the metallic, sweet taste in his mouth and gritted his teeth. “I’m sorry. It was my lack of foresight.”
