My Servant System - Chapter 1504 - 1503: It’s... Coming Along

Chapter 1504: Chapter 1503: It’s… Coming Along
Another week passed us by just like that, and in that relatively short amount of time we had actually managed to accomplished a large amount of things, albeit with a slight caveat that some of those things were quite… minuscule.
For instance we did manage to pave a better set of pathways to and from the various buildings and into the fields, however that only took Anput about an hour or so to do with two other Earth Mages.
We also illuminated those pathways and got to work putting up fences around the fields just to help keep people from stumbling onto the crops or blocking the exceedingly rare animal from coming and doing the same.
On the other hand we also constructed three new housing units that helped give everyone some more space, and on top of those three buildings we also created a communal hall for the farmers to use as they saw fit.
It wasn’t that large and it was barely furnished, but it was an area to gather and relax after a long day toiling beneath the sun; it offered a nice flat surface to dance on, and the small stage was perfect for people to play instruments or sing over a crowd.
Besides that we also got the fields completely set up and irrigated, allowing the growth of crops without require intensive watering all the time from someone manually; we also got the Ritual Circle etched into the bricks lining the edges of the fields to help attract more Nature Mana into the earth to act as a fertilizer.
One that made things healthier, more bountiful and sped up their growth, which we were already beginning to see with this current batch of crops being ahead of schedule, although the Ritual Circle for the Nature Mana portion was interfering a little with the irrigation, so… that was fun.
All in all it was a good week, and that was just looking at the community as a whole; Jahi took Anput out hunting again and brought back a whole herd of these buffalo adjacent monsters that had wings, while Leone got her potion stockpile into a comfortable position that would give us some ease of mind should anything happen.
Besides that we had also begun to explore farming trees as well so that we could attempt to have some more resources of our own, though that was another problem that had me stuck at my desk for hours on end as I worked diligently with Nakith to try and solve it.
With the food pretty much sorted out, the water running strong, the housing being almost complete and everyone getting some nice fluffy blankets to use at night, things were coming along quite nicely.
I didn’t want to jinx it though so I never said that aloud, though even with me knocking on wood we still ran into a hiccup, which I was going to assume was the first of many; apparently hunting down a whole herd of monsters in a Dungeon overflowing with them was actually something the monsters took note of…
We had a bit of a stampede charging at us in the middle of the night, spotted by one of the Demon guards resting atop one of the rooftops; the alarm bell was rung and we all rushed outside to figure out what was happening, only to see a large dust cloud getting ever closer.
When we realized it was monsters we armed ourselves, erected some stone fortifications for the farmers to shelter behind and then rushed out to meet the horde, which was swarming with all kinds of beasties.
“Look at that menu~! We’ve never really had snake for dinner before have we? Think it’ll taste good?”
Anput’s cheery voice made me roll my eyes as I observed the hundred some odd monsters that were charging at us, and that wasn’t including the few dozen that were squawking and beating their heavy wings at us too.
“Most snake meat is slightly sweet, chewy, and honestly… not that good. Definitely unique though, but not something I would recommend going out of your way to get.”
The yellow skinned Demoness beside us informed my mate of that, allowing me to add “Why bother with that when we have so many bovine adjacent monsters right here? And all of these birds? We know already that most bird monsters are just oversized chickens…” which made my mate shrug.
“Was just curious… but hey, anything~ you make is delicious, Kat~!”
Ignoring her attempt to flirt, I just took in the sea of monsters in front of us before reaching for my daggers, frowning immediately when I considered what I was going up against; since there was still a considerable distance between us, I glanced over at my mate and caught her attention, even though her eyes were looking lower than my face.
“You need to make me another sword sometime soon, and I wouldn’t be at all against trying out some form of spear or halberd. These daggers just aren’t going to cut it against everything… literally.”
Seeing her take a rod from the storage bracelet on her wrist and shape it immediately into a thick bladed spear, I stowed my daggers away and caught it when she tossed it to me, ignoring her ’pleading’ look as I quickly acclimated myself to its heft, balance and reach.
By the time we crashed against the raging horde I was feeling confident with the spear, and being submerged into the chaos with a new weapon should have made me cautious, yet all I could do was enjoy the new ways of shedding blood that this weapon offered me.
Nowhere near as cruel as the daggers, the spear was adequate at some of what I was accustomed to, but where it excelled was the power behind thrusts that could cause portions of the monsters to just get mangled as the force ’outweighed’ the sharpness of the blade.
Specifically whenever I got a headshot with a thrust; that shower of gore as their heads just popped after I shattered their skulls was just euphoric, and the accuracy I needed to consistently score those sorts of kills was a challenge I found entertaining.
Obviously all these skulls going to waste was a bit of a shame, but what I really cared about was their torsos staying intact since that was where all the meat was… though I knew my mate and some of the Demons were all cringing whenever I broke another valuable skull…
The horns were mostly intact though, so the value wasn’t all lost… but the fangs, eyes and tongues were mostly gone, and those were other valuable ingredients that they very much wanted.
It was a good thing there were so many monsters then, since I had no intention of stopping anytime soon…
