My Servant System - Chapter 1508 - 1507: Amassing Wealth

Chapter 1508: Chapter 1507: Amassing Wealth
By the time Mister DuMont had satisfied his desires to own all of the things he wanted from this horde I actually had a bit of a headache, and surprisingly it wasn’t because the man was a hard negotiator or anything like that.
It was just… he was so quick to accept a deal or counter with something that was a bit more acceptable for us both that I actually found myself making those deals rather easily, hence why he now owned almost a third of everything on this butchery platform.
And the ’worst’ part about that was I couldn’t even be mad since he had just dropped an additional 100 Gold onto my lap alongside the original 175 Gold that we had agreed upon, meaning…
I…
That was why I had a headache, because just thinking about having well over 350 Gold after only doing a little bit of negotiating was just… it was crazy, because that kind of money was life changing for normal people.
And although I know I was nowhere near being a normal person, I had also never really taken a good long look into the finance books that Mom meticulously kept, so although I knew she had an overabundance of wealth it just… never felt real to me.
Out of sight out of mind or something like that, right?
If I could never put a real number to the ’valuation’ of our House, then I never felt like I needed to grasp just how wealthy we were… because if I did I think I might have come up as a little more arrogant and insufferable.
Anyways, with that now weighing on my mind, I also had to start thinking about the fact that the remaining two thirds of the materials on this platform were going to need to be sold sometime soon as well… and that some of it was going to be kept for Anput to play around with.
Goddesses above just thinking about how Anput could turn a simple bone found here into something worth two, three or even four times its base value by just creating something from it made me want to vomit…
Why had I ever worried that money might be an issue for us..?
And how had I never really seemed to understand the logic behind Kat’s reasoning for her and my two other wives to pursue something tangible for their hobbies..?
I always knew they could make a lot of money but now that I was actually here… thinking about just how much they could make… it was beginning to boggle my mind, in ways that I didn’t think possible.
If Anput made a suite of weapons that were then enchanted by Kat, could they not turn this pile of 5-10 Gold worth of bones into almost 75 Gold, maybe even 100 Gold or more..?
And if Leone did some alchemy shenanigans to them couldn’t the price leap up another dozen or so Gold just because of that..?
“Finally understanding how the Demon Clans have stayed so relevant for so many years?”
The somewhat smug yet understanding voice of Kavya cut through my rumination immediately, almost as quickly as a hot knife through butter; it had the same effect too because I just felt so… split on what I should be feeling.
“I… How does anyone struggle for money like this..?”
That earned me a snort as the Demoness replied “You’re looking at this through the eyes of someone born with incredible talent. Some of that is because of your blood, most of it is because of who raised you, who molded you. The average Beastkin, for example, only has enough magic to cast one or two spells a day and can maybe lift 150 pounds easily day in, day out.
On the other hand, you can cast spells for hours before being drained, and if you actually started thinking about the weight of things, you could probably do 400 pounds without noticing. Takes a bit of mental trickery to do so, but it’s not that bad. That’s the difference though, Lady Asmodia. We are born ’rich’, they are born average. Making money is easy when you have ’wealth’ to spend freely.”
“As much as that makes sense, still… surely this isn’t just unique to us, right? All of those Houses and merchants, all of the adventurers… Shouldn’t they-”
“Be stupidly rich too? That’s where the intellect and control comes in. So many people finally get a little coin flowing freely in their lives, but do you think they save it up? Start amassing it for the future?
Obviously they spend it. Some get the things they’ve always wanted and swear they need, which is reasonable. A nicer house, clothes, armor or weapons… they make sense, but obviously they spent their coin. Others get exuberant feasts and drink, some gamble, others turn to drugs or other debauchery…
They get a taste of freedom and immediately overdose on it. Can’t blame them for it either, no matter how stupid it looks from the outside. You finally have some freedom… why not enjoy it? Problem is they can’t control it, and it consumes them. Us? We’re born into it, so we have a tolerance for it.
Some of us are stupid, don’t get me wrong, but we have a system in place for ourselves. The Demon Clans invest heavily into themselves, creating this never ending loop of amassing wealth that isn’t that easily achieved. Take me, for example; I was trained to be an adventurer, farmer, guard, negotiator and so much more. With those I provide a value to the Clans by bringing in coin. I keep some, they keep some.”
It was quite the ’economic lesson’ that I just received, though the longer I talked with Kavya the more I began to realize that… well, she wasn’t entirely wrong about this, nor was it something I could just ignore.
In our own way we had mimicked the Clans since each of us had invested into something that could return money, which I think Kat realized far sooner than any of us had; to Anput and Leone, they knew they wanted to create things simply because they yearned to do so, but Kat took up Enchanting because she knew it could amplify the things Anput made to be worth even more.
That sort of logic was always something Kat seemed to operate around, and it even showed in how she acted whenever she tried to let go of her composed self for the more deranged killer I had come to love.
It was because of that logic of hers that we now had ourselves set up to rake in massive amounts of money, so obviously I was feeling a little irritated about having let her go back into the manor to sleep without joining her…
My wife needed to be rewarded thoroughly for her actions, but here I was, chatting with this older Demoness while we were elbow deep inside of some monster’s chest cavity, pulling away at intestines and organs so that we could organize it into the parts we needed…
Though I honestly was beginning to enjoy having Kavya around since the older Beliali futanari was quite the conversationist, which made me wonder about her husband Bakari and what he brought to the table…
