My Servant System - Chapter 1560 1559: First Stirrings

Kat PoV

The week wasn’t even fully done with yet and here I was, sporting a rather obvious curve to my belly that made my Mother unreasonably smug as she stood behind me, her eyes warm yet mischievous as she stared at my reflection with me.

“Mother, I consider myself a rather filial and loving daughter. A daughter that cherishes and loves her Mother quite a fair bit… and yet I am so dreadfully close to slapping you right about now.”

Even though that was spoken as warmly as I could muster but with a very clear edge, all it did was make Mother all the more smug as she grinned at me and stroked my stomach, her eyes flashing with amusement.

“You are such a wonderful daughter… and that is why I am so very proud and thankful that you seem to be carrying quite~ a few pups~! Congratulations, Katherine~!”

Taking a long, calming breath, I ignored her teasing and instead focused on the curvature of my stomach; the usually toned and gentle curve I worked so hard to maintain was now gone, and while I was by no means fat this felt… uncomfortable for me.

It… made me look far too similar to what I had once looked like; in ‘shape’ only because sex worked out so many calories when you were engaging in it day in, day out, as well as because I had little money to overindulge in food like I wanted to.

I just looked so… much like myself, like the Katherine that had been killed by a crazy, sexy, and incredibly ‘talented’ jealous ex; I didn’t look like the warrior that I had shaped myself into, like the killer that stood proudly beside her dashing, handsome and sadistic Demoness wife.

“You look gorgeous, Katherine. I guarantee you, if Jahi is even an ounce of what her Mom is, these upcoming nights shall be some of the hottest you have ever had…”

She was blushing hard at that, both from embarrassment and from memories as she cradled my still ‘small’ belly gently, and having her so easily see ‘through’ me was honestly… reassuring, especially since that was an irritational fear that had begun to creep into me.

“You’ll come to understand that being like this… being this ‘ugly’ version of yourself that you swear you are becoming… it’s the sexiest you’ll ever end up being to them. All three of them. I… with your Mom, I… she…”

“Mother please, that is not an image I want nor desire to have in my mind.”

The older Dogkin just nodded and blushed harder as she looked away, though I could tell now that her eyes were somewhat distant… and quite clearly hot with desire as she thought about herself and Mom, which I really didn’t want to think about.

Clearing my throat and looking down at myself, I nodded slightly before tugging my shirt back over my body to conceal it, not wanting to see it right this moment; that constantly shifting desire to love what was happening warred with the fear of what was to come, and it… honestly, it was draining.

“Katherine… this shall be hard, I won’t lie, but you will be alright. Thousands upon thousands of us go through this daily, and only a small handful ever have complications. It… is crude to say, but we are a race made for this. It is one of our strengths…”

She gently tapped the side of my hip and gave me a smile before turning me towards her, resting her brow against mine as she whispered “You’ll be alright, Katherine. I promise. Now… stop moping and get some sunlight. Everything is going well.”

“Now why would you say that..?”

We stared at one another before sharing a chuckle at the superstition that would never fade in any world, the idea of tempting fate with words and claims being something that persevered even here, in a world with Gods and those that had Godlike powers.

Walking me outside and staying with me as we enjoyed the vast grassy area that we had encased behind our walls, Mother and I just began to talk about… anything really, so long as it didn’t have anything to do with the fact that three was looking a bit too few at this point…

Somewhere along the way the older Vampire found herself outside as well, walking around beneath her parasol and coming to join us after she laid those glittering rubies she called eyes on us, sharing some words of her own as we just… basked in the sun.

With Anput taking a midday nap in the main room and the other two hunting a plethora of monsters to begin stocking up on more meats for us both, I was ‘alone’ here when something incredible happened.

From the inside there was something – a very brief flare of a something – that pressed against my belly and made itself known, causing me to gasp and go stiff as I looked down at myself in shock, though Mother just grinned as she immediately turned around and rushed up to me.

“One of them made themselves known then, hm~? A tad bit early, so it must be quite the energetic pup~! It didn’t hurt and isn’t causing discomfort, right?”

She still reined in her excitement and asked me that, making me sigh as I shook my head while stroking my stomach, wondering just why this had to be happening so quickly… and why I just wasn’t able to get as excited as she was just yet.

That isn’t to say I wasn’t happy I was pregnant, because I absolutely was, but for some reason I was just… on the edge about everything, this blanket of worry draping itself around my shoulders and making me feel rather cold.

What it was or why it was here was unknown to me, but I did know that there was this lingering uncertainty that made my heart beat inside of my chest just that much quicker, and it wasn’t something that Mother or Lady Lorelei could help me with, despite their experience.
