My Servant System - Chapter 1569 - 1568: Curveball

Chapter 1569: Chapter 1568: Curveball
It was the middle of the night and utterly peaceful, playing out much like every other peaceful night had been playing out recently; I was laying atop Jahi’s chest basking in the afterglow of her love, whispering sweet nothings into her ear as we watched our other two wives go at it rather hard, but unlike most nights the ringing of the warning bells shattered the quiet night air.
Anput had been mid thrust inside of Leone when the bells rang, and Jahi had been not even a second away from slipping back inside of me, so to say we were all rather irritated when the bells rang would be an understatement.
But the fact that they were ringing from multiple different locations had us shelve that irritation far into the back of our minds right now as we instead got up and began to get dressed, and that was when the first ’curveball’ hit me.
It hit me hard too since Jahi turned and laid her hands on my shoulders, shaking her head as she said “Kat, no, you are NOT stepping foot out of this manor. That is final.”, using a tone that would have typically brooked no argument… for most people.
It was the kind of tone that was firm, potent, domineering… and it was exactly the sort of tone I was accustomed to when it came to Jahi, so I just tried to shrug off her hands and move to grab my gear, because there was not a snowballs chance in hell I was going to let her go out there without me.
And yet it wasn’t just her holding me back; Leone came up and gently pushed me into Anput’s arms, who was waiting right behind me and promptly locked those strong arms around me to keep me in place, even when I snarled at her.
“Kat, this isn’t something that is up for debate. You and Anput both are not going to take a single step out of this manor tonight, not until Leone or I come back and tell you two otherwise.”
Another snarl tore through me as I tried to break free from Anput, but the problems began to mount for me as the realization that my pups were sapping my strength settled in, alongside the reminder that Anput was and would always be physically my ’superior’, especially when she softly growled into my ear.
“Stop resisting, Kat.”
That growl sent tremors up and down my spine, each of those words laden with far more weight than I was used to bearing as she held me firmly and gave me an order, one that came instinctually and locked my body despite my mind wanting otherwise.
And then there was the way Jahi took a breath and used our own bond to give me an order as well, confining me here and causing my limbs to feel like they were being wrapped in heavy chains bound to this room.
“Don’t make this more difficult than it needs to be, Kat. It’s probably another monster horde… a big one, sure, but it is easily manageable. Easy for those of us without children growing inside of our bellies…”
Stepping up to me, she cupped my face and leaned down to give me a kiss, which I reluctantly returned since the idea of letting her go fight on her own was eating away at me already, yet beneath the weight of both her and Anput’s orders my body refused to do anything that I wanted it to.
“You and Anput will stay here. I’ll have Kavya come by as well, and we’ll be back before you know it. Just sit tight, keep safe, and focus on this, alright..? It is what is more important right now.”
Jahi gently tapped my stomach before giving me another kiss, only to then lean over me to give Anput a kiss as well, which the Jackalkin eagerly accepted even as she kept her arms wrapped securely around my waist.
Leone came over as well, and with my reluctance slowly seeping out of me the Vampire gave me a small smile and then a kiss, whispering “Trust us, Kat, alright? We’ll make it up to you when we get back, I promise!” before kissing Anput as well.
With that the two exited our bedroom and left Anput and I alone, where the Jackalkin instantly walked me over to the bed and sat down with me as she and I stared at the door for a few long, silent minutes.
I could feel Jahi getting further away, and having the bells ringing the entire time was just… after everything that I had gone through, the idea of getting nervous over a fight – like actually nervous, to the point of trembling and being short of breath – was foreign and honestly a bit laughable, yet here I was… trembling…
“Ah, we should get dressed if Kavya is coming.”
Keeping her tone steady and maintaining her usual arrogant confidence, Anput sauntered over to her closet, picked out a somewhat revealing nightgown and pulled it on before turning towards me, staring at my body for a moment and then disappearing into my own closet.
When she emerged with one of my heavier robes that was meant more as a ’I want to be immensely comfy right now’ and not something to meet people in, I raised a brow and had a brief moment where I was forgetting about them and just staring at my mate with my usual exasperation.
Yet as she pulled it over me she murmured “They’ll be alright, Kat… we just need to trust in them, and I think we can trust a rare, generational talented Demoness with Light Magic as well as a Vampire hybrid that has the Empress’ blood in her veins.”, reminding me of what I had just ’forgotten’.
I didn’t want to say anything because my emotions were leaping all over the place, something that my mate knew as she just walked me over to the window and sat with me in front of it, our eyes glued to the horizon as we looked at the many, many monsters that had come to ’visit’ our home.
