My Werewolf System - Chapter 1450: Ice cold alphas (Part 2)

Chapter 1450: Ice cold alphas (Part 2)
The attacks from Kai’s wolf form were relentless.
Using the ice pillars, he leapt from point to point with terrifying speed, never slowing, never giving Lupus even a moment to breathe. It was as though the giant wolf was everywhere at once, a blur of white frost and savage motion.
Even with Lupus’s immense durability, the damage was building up. His body, usually a fortress of muscle and hardened ice, was beginning to feel the fatigue.
His strikes… Lupus thought, gritting his teeth. They’re powerful, not just because of his raw strength, but because of his speed. The faster you move, the harder you hit. But strength isn’t only about speed or power, it’s about control.
Frustration boiled over.
With a roar, Lupus slammed both fists into the ground. The earth split beneath him, and jagged chunks of ice erupted upward, forming a shield-like wall.
He couldn’t see where Kai was coming from anymore. The wolf was simply too fast. But Lupus could feel the attacks. Each slash and bite tore at his senses, and he guessed when the next strike would come.
The problem was, Kai wasn’t staying in front of him anymore.
He was everywhere, behind, above, and all around.
“If you’re only coming from one direction, then at least I can do something!” Lupus shouted.
He swung both arms wide, and a storm of sharp ice shards spun out from his claws, like a tornado of blades. The shards cut through the air, smashing into the nearby ice pillars and obliterating them in a sweeping arc.
Turning sharply to his right, Lupus caught sight of Kai at last, charging straight at him, jaws wide open.
Kai lunged, his body coiled like a spring, but before his teeth could sink in, he let loose a sudden stream of ice from his mouth.
The blast struck Lupus’s arm with a deafening crack, freezing it solid from elbow to fingertips.
Growling, Lupus surged his energy through the limb, shattering part of the ice, but it was too late.
Kai’s massive body crashed into him, delivering a bone-shaking blow.
The wolf followed with a second attack, slamming into Lupus’s legs with sheer force, sending him flying and spinning through the air like a ragdoll.
Frustrated, Lupus landed hard and swung wildly, slashing at the ground, releasing wave after wave of icy claws. Each strike carved deep gashes into the frozen battlefield, but the wolf danced around them, leaping side to side, untouchable.
When Lupus landed again, he stilled for a moment, closing his eyes. His breathing slowed as he focused. It had been a while since he had to do this with an opponent. Even when he fought against Gary he could rely on his own true Alpha form.
He just never expected to run into an enemy of this calibre out on the filed. He wasn’t close to Ylva. So he had to fight on his own, using his own skills and body.
Everything has a rhythm. A beat. Every attack, every movement. Even if I can’t see you… I’ll still hit you.
This time, when Kai darted to the side and opened his jaws for another freezing blast, Lupus reacted differently.
He leapt straight into the air, his body kicking off the ground as if propelled by nothing but raw force. For a moment, he looked weightless. The ice blast had hit his hand, but just tensing it quickly shattered it and when lifting his hands up he was ready.
Then he came crashing down.
His clawed fist smashed into Kai’s face with a sickening impact, sending the wolf skidding across the ground, ice and dirt exploding in his wake.
The hit was powerful enough that frost began to creep across Kai’s snout where the blow landed, freezing the fur in jagged patterns.
But Kai’s true Alpha form was built to endure.
Just like the werewolves under Ylva’s control, immune to pain, driven only by instinct, Kai rose instantly, unfazed by the blow.
Lupus knew this. Which was why he didn’t stop.
He sprinted forward, his claws carving deep grooves into the ground as he prepared for a follow-up attack.
But Kai… Kai was faster.
The wolf’s body split.
In an instant, there were three of him.
Three colossal wolves, circling Lupus like predators, coming from different directions.
“What, ?” Lupus growled.
He swung, his claws slicing straight through one of the wolves. But instead of blood, the figure shattered into shards of ice.
The second wolf slammed into him, freezing half his body solid.
And then came the third, the real one.
Kai lunged from the side, fangs snapping, and sank them deep into Lupus’s shoulder.
“ARGHH!” Lupus roared, forcing himself to twist through the pain.
Despite the trickery, his senses were sharpening, adapting to the chaos of the fight. He grabbed Kai by the head, twisted his body downward, and slammed the wolf into the ground with bone-breaking force. The ground cracked beneath them like glass.
Lupus didn’t pause.
He lifted both fists and slammed them into the earth again, unleashing a surge of frost.
Kai jolted back to his feet, ready to strike again, only to crash into a solid wall of ice.
Spinning around, Kai realized it wasn’t just behind him. The entire battlefield was now sealed off, forming a circular arena of jagged ice walls.
It was just the two of them.
No escape.
“This is a little trick I stole from a friend,” Lupus growled, his breath misting in the frozen air. “You’ve been using your pillars to gain speed and attack from every angle.”
He raised his claws, ice crackling across his knuckles.
“But in here? With the two of us this close?”
Lupus grinned.
“Let’s make this a straight-up brawl.”
