My Werewolf System - Chapter 1469: The Luna’s Battle, The Alpha’s War

Chapter 1469: The Luna’s Battle, The Alpha’s War
Although Gary had used the spray to mask his scent from the other werewolves, it didn’t mean his own nose wasn’t working. His sense of smell was sharper than ever. He could see Marie in her towering werewolf form, descending onto the battlefield, but more than that, he could feel it. She wasn’t just transformed. She was in her Luna state.
What I sensed before… now I’m certain. That had to be Kai. Both Kai and Marie are here right now. He must have figured out a way to control himself and come back to help us. He really is… amazing.
Before Gary could dwell on that thought, another sound caught his ears, voices not far away.
“Hey, so what’s the plan here? Are we going to join the fight?” Kevin asked nervously.
“I’m not too sure,” Park admitted. “Honestly, I think I could help a bit with my powers, but where should we even go? Out onto the field? Or what about Gary, do we stay close to him?”
“Hey, I see him!” Xin shouted, his voice full of relief. “That green hair, you can spot it from a mile away!”
“Go up to the restaurant!” Olivia said firmly. “It looks like they need more help there than anywhere else. That’s where most of the Howlers are gathering.”
In Olivia’s mind, it was simple. Since they were all more human than wolf, even with her beast whip, it made sense to stick close to the bulk of their forces rather than risk being picked off on the battlefield.
Gary had overheard every word. His ears twitched as he caught their conversation, and he made his decision quickly. With a powerful leap, he bounded back toward the restaurant.
One of the enemy werewolves lunged at him midair, claws outstretched, but Gary reacted instantly. He summoned his hammer into both hands, swinging it down in a brutal arc. The weapon connected with the creature’s skull, smashing it down into the dirt with a bone-crunching crash. By the time Gary landed on the roof of the restaurant, he had already dismissed the weapon, its heavy form dissolving into nothing.
“Don’t they ever learn?” Gary muttered under his breath, irritation cutting through his tone. “Persistent to the very end.”
He looked down, spotting the rest of the group making their way toward him.
“What are you guys doing here?” Gary demanded as soon as they reached him. They weren’t supposed to move. The plan had been to stay put in one secure location until the night was over.
“We were attacked by one of the werewolves!” Park explained quickly. “But don’t worry, we dealt with it.”
“You mean Marie dealt with it,” Kevin corrected bluntly.
“Right, right, but still, you don’t have to worry about us. With the situation getting worse, we decided it was better to regroup here,” Park said.
Xin stepped forward, panic lacing his voice. “Gary, listen, there’s a second wave coming. A force of werewolves, all of them with beast armor. We came here to warn you, we were worried we’d be too late!”
Gary frowned. Their words didn’t match what he was seeing. The number of werewolves was high, yes, but there hadn’t been an official “second wave” like Xin was describing. That meant something, or someone, was holding the enemy back.
Was it more White Rose members reinforcing them? Or… could it be Kai himself?
Before Gary could find the answer, even stranger things began unfolding.
Across the grass field, a figure charged forward on all fours, moving so fast the wind seemed to split around him. It was Apollo. His body was battered, but his speed was still fierce. Several werewolves tried to intercept him, but he veered sharply, letting them collide with the ground instead.
Then came two more. From above, shadows cut across the moonlight, Vere and Vlad. They dove downward, landing hard on the earth with urgency written on their faces.
When Apollo finally reached Gary’s position, he leapt high into the air and came crashing down to land nearby, panting heavily.
“Gary, I have urgent news!” Apollo shouted at the same time Vere tried to speak.
Apollo looked exhausted, his body beaten, his breath ragged. Vere and Vlad weren’t as injured, but their faces carried a trace of panic.
“Austin,” Vere said, her voice sharp, “and a White Rose agent, they’re fighting a force of over a hundred werewolves at the bridge!”
That explained why reinforcements hadn’t arrived. They had been forced to hold the line elsewhere. But Gary’s mind spun, did Austin need help? Should he send someone? Or would splitting their forces make things worse?
Apollo didn’t give him time to dwell. His voice cracked as he continued.
“Gary… it’s about Ice. Ice and I ran into Lupus. We fought him with everything we had. But in the end, Lupus was too strong. Ice… stayed back. He sacrificed his life to hold Lupus off. He’s gone.”
The words dropped like a stone into Gary’s chest. For a moment, there was only silence.
Gary had seen so much death already. So many faces lost in the chaos of this night. But Ice… Ice had been different. He was one of the kindest people Gary had known, someone who had helped him from the very beginning, not just escaping prison, but also with the One Gang. He wasn’t just an ally. He was someone Gary truly wanted to honor, someone he wanted to mourn.
But Apollo wasn’t finished. He swallowed hard before forcing out the rest.
“And Gary… it’s about Kai, too. He’s here. Him and Lupus, they’re fighting each other right now!”
The flood of information was too much. Gary’s head spun with the weight of it. What was he supposed to do? Who needed him most? Where should he go? Even the fight they were already in wasn’t finished.
Lupus… I can’t fight him. Not in this state. The best thing I can do is stay put. Focus. Deal with Ylva while she’s here.
Gary turned his eyes toward the battlefield. Marie and Adam had Ylva practically cornered. It was only a matter of time before they took her down. Adam’s tentacles rose into the air, dozens of them writhing and gathering strength before he swung them downward in a crushing strike.
But then, something slammed into the ground with earth-shaking force, cutting the attack short. Adam pulled his tentacles back instantly, his eyes wide.
A sudden chill spread across the battlefield, a coldness that sank into every breath. Moisture clung to the air, and to Adam’s horror, frost began creeping across the surface of his tentacles, freezing them where they writhed.
“Haha… haha…” Ylva’s voice trembled between fear and elation. She wasn’t sure whether to be afraid of what had just arrived… or to be grateful.
As the dust settled, the truth revealed itself.
Lupus, fully transformed, his massive arms spread wide, his snarl echoing through the battlefield. Opposite him, towering in the form of a full-sized giant wolf with glowing red eyes, stood Kai.
The two forces had clashed, their battle carrying them straight into the heart of the chaos. And now… they had crash-landed into the center of the war.
