My Werewolf System - Chapter 1483: After the Storm

Chapter 1483: After the Storm
Marie charged forward with everything she had, her Luna form glowing faintly under the full moon. Kai was staggered thanks to Gary’s powerful blow, and this was the opening she had been waiting for. She wasn’t slow in her Luna form , far from it , but she knew even a single heartbeat mattered when dealing with someone like Kai.
Her hands shot out, gripping him firmly by the shoulders before he could fully recover.
It’s a good thing you always plan ahead, Kai, Marie thought to herself as she tightened her hold. You knew this could happen, so we practiced for it again and again.
At once, the faint silvery threads of moon energy that wrapped around Marie began to flow into Kai. Through her touch, the light seeped into his body like water soaking into dry soil. The effect was immediate. The harsh tension in his muscles began to ease. The blazing, feral glow in his eyes dimmed, fading from wild red to something closer to exhaustion.
Bit by bit, his enormous body shrank down in size. The aura of raw energy that had saturated the battlefield started to dissolve, thinning out like fog in the morning sun. The oppressive weight pressing on everyone nearby lifted with each passing second.
Gary stood close, gripping the Warhammer tightly, ready to act at a moment’s notice. He raised his voice to the others, a firm reminder that cut through the fading chaos.
“Remember! It’s still the night of the full moon! Even if Kai isn’t in his true Alpha form anymore, the moon will still affect him.”
They all knew the danger wasn’t gone yet.
Kai’s size continued to shrink until the monstrous form vanished completely, leaving only his human self behind , bare, battered, and trembling. His naked body curled slightly, hands clutching at his stomach, his chest rising and falling in ragged breaths. Exhaustion was written across every line of his form.
But he wasn’t the only one who had changed.
Marie had shrunk back as well. Her Luna form had faded, leaving her standing there in her human state.
This raised a new question that hung heavily in the air.
What about Marie? Was she safe on the night of the full moon?
Even Marie herself had no certain answer. This wasn’t something they had been able to test. No one had experience with what would happen to a Luna under these exact circumstances.
“Marie!” Gary shouted urgently. His heart clenched as he took a step forward. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine!” Marie called back quickly, tightening her hold on Kai with one arm while raising her free hand to halt Gary in his tracks. She didn’t want him too close. “I think Kai’s exhausted, which works in our favor. But we still need somewhere to keep him contained… and I think it’s best you don’t get near.”
Her voice was steady, but there was a tension beneath it. She was trying to reassure him while reminding everyone of the risk.
The Luna class was unique. It was the class capable of bringing other Werewolves into the pack, bending their wills under the weight of the moon. Because of this, Marie wasn’t affected as harshly by the madness of the full moon as others were.
But Gary… Gary was an Alpha.
Marie realized the obvious truth. It was unlikely she would ever be able to turn another Alpha over to her side. And it meant that Gary, even with all his strength, might be far more vulnerable to Kai’s unstable rage than she was.
Thankfully, even though she wasn’t in her Luna form anymore, there was still a faint calmness radiating through her veins. The moon didn’t rage inside her as it did in the others. She could feel agitation in Kai’s body, yes, but it wasn’t boiling over inside her the same way.
Gary studied the scene carefully. He understood what was happening. Kai had pushed himself to the brink, burning through every shred of his energy. Now his body wasn’t even strong enough to hold its Werewolf form, no matter how much his instincts demanded it.
For now, at least, they didn’t have to worry about him transforming again , as long as he didn’t get his hands on food to replenish his energy. That would change everything.
Marie stayed at Kai’s side, steady and protective, while Gary turned his attention back to the broader battlefield.
The White Rose members began to gather near him. Even now, they could feel the strange aura radiating from his body. The Warhammer was still in his hands, and the green energy clung to him like a second skin, humming with restrained power.
Gary knew if he put the weapon away, the energy would dissipate. But he couldn’t bring himself to release it just yet. He had already used the hammer’s ultimate ability once, and he wouldn’t be able to call on it again in the same fight. Still, keeping it in his grip gave him comfort. It was a reminder of the strength he had just unleashed, strength borrowed from every member of the pack.
Part of him even dared to hope that Ylva and Lupus might arrive now, while he still carried that power within him. Perhaps then, he could end it.
But deep down, Gary doubted it. His gut told him the opposite , that Ylva would time it perfectly. She would wait. She would strike only when he no longer had the Warhammer’s power.
For a brief moment, though, Gary felt the tiniest flicker of hope. Things had seemed to be going in their favor.
The White Rose’s intervention had changed the tide in several key battles. The Lupus group had been forced onto the defensive. They were scrambling, doing everything they could to hold their ground.
But that fragile balance was breaking apart.
Chen was in no condition to fight. His body was drained, his abilities spent. Adam was no better; his strange, unstable powers had become fickle, unreliable, leaving him weakened.
Don had taken the brunt of Gary’s Warhammer strike. The scales that had shielded him were cracked, and blood still lined the corner of his mouth. His energy reserves were nearly empty.
Even though Altereds could recover quickly, they weren’t like Werewolves. They couldn’t simply eat a meal and restore their strength. They needed more time.
And Gary himself… he had already revealed his trump card. The hammer’s ultimate ability had been used. He had nothing left hidden.
He clenched his jaw, muttering under his breath, “If Lupus and Ylva come back now, in their true Alpha forms… what can we possibly do?”
He glanced up at the pale light of the moon overhead. Time was slipping away, in the right direction for them.
There was still one hour and thirty minutes until the sun would rise.
One hour and thirty minutes of survival left to endure.
