My Werewolf System - Chapter 1751 Just Eat Him

Chapter 1751 Just Eat Him
The rules in Midwak’s life since he had left the pack had been simple. He needed to get stronger, not just to survive, but to one day surpass Lupus and his group. That goal had driven him for years. Every fight, every hunt, every drop of blood had been tied to that single objective.
There were multiple reasons for it at the time, anger, pride, betrayal, but now that goal no longer truly existed. The packs had joined. The hostility had settled, at least on the surface. The burning need to defeat Lupus wasn’t the same as before.
However, the mindset hadn’t disappeared.
It was ingrained into his body. A habit carved into his bones. He still needed to get stronger. It had become his way of life in so many ways that even without the original reason, he continued forward.
If he had fought against a tough enemy, then that was even more reason to consume it and grow.
The werewolf in front of him had been a difficult fight. Not one of the hardest battles he had ever faced, but the strength and the strangeness of the creature made it different. The movements, the scent, even the skills it displayed, it didn’t feel like any ordinary werewolf he had encountered before.
Midwak was curious. If he ate it, would he get stronger, even in the slightest?
At the very least, it would refill the energy he had lost fighting the thing.
“I’ve never had trouble eating my own kind, not if it’s for the sake of getting stronger,” Midwak commented as he looked down at the body. “But that’s the most unappetizing looking werewolf I’ve ever seen.”
He crouched slightly, studying it more closely.
Other thoughts crept into his mind. If it truly was a werewolf, was it from Lupus’s pack? He had never seen anything like this before. Never seen a werewolf with these types of skills or such an altered appearance.
Would he get into trouble for eating someone from Lupus’s pack now that the two packs had joined forces?
“Ah man, I’m seriously just overthinking this,” Midwak muttered. “I’m just going to do what I always do.”
He leaned down, transformed fully, and started to eat. Things were always easier when he was fully transformed. The instincts took over. The hesitation faded. It became simple, consume and grow.
Just outside the butcher’s shop, the Howler members were still waiting patiently. They had heard the noise inside, the sounds of the fight, but they followed Midwak’s orders well. Besides, they believed there was next to nothing in the current city that could take out Midwak.
There was also another reason why Midwak often told others to stay away from him during a fight. It allowed him to activate the special trait of his class.
A trait that surged his power only when he was fighting alone.
“The boss is taking a while on this one. Should we head in?” one of them asked.
“Hey, don’t call him the boss,” another replied quickly. “That word is reserved for one person only. Don’t confuse things. We are Howlers through and through. I like Midwak a lot as well, but we have to put some respect on that word.”
“Ah, you’re right. Then what should we call him?”
“Big Unc,” another answered with a smile. “I heard it’s a sign of respect people use in other countries. Even if they’re not part of your family, you respect them as if they are. And to all of us, he’s our Big Unc.”
The group looked at each other and nodded in agreement.
Just then, they heard the sound of the door opening.
“Big Unc, is everything okay? Are you hurt?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Midwak said as he stepped out, wiping his mouth. “Contact the police station to clear this up. Tell them it’s a rogue Altered.”
He began walking off without stopping.
Midwak knew it wasn’t wise to say it was a werewolf. If people started hearing rumors, they might assume it was the Howlers involved. Until they knew exactly what was going on, it was better to keep it quiet.
“And what the heck is with the name?” he added, glancing at them.
The group continued going around the city afterward, checking for more trouble. They noticed Midwak was acting a bit stranger than usual. It was subtle, but clear enough. He seemed to be searching for something. Searching for another problem, perhaps hoping to find another one of those creatures.
But he couldn’t find anything.
Eventually, the group decided to get dinner together. As usual, they chose a large barbecue chain. Nearly all of them enjoyed meat, and it was one of the few things they could all agree on.
Midwak sat there eating quietly.
‘I’m still wondering what that thing even was,’ Midwak thought as he continued chewing. ‘I wanted to get a second look at one before I try to make a big deal out of this.’
He took another bite.
‘Surely there would be more than one of them in the city, right?’
He leaned back slightly in his chair, thinking.
‘If I can’t find one, the person most likely to know something is Galdark. Just before I leave the city and search for him, I need to make sure this city is absolutely safe.’
“Whoa!” one of the members suddenly said. “Man, Big Unc, you’re eating more than usual today! That’s your eighth order. You must have really used a lot of energy while fighting.”
Midwak blinked and looked down at the plates in front of him.
He had been deep in thought and had simply continued eating whatever was placed in front of him without paying attention. Plate after plate had disappeared.
But as he paused, he realized something strange.
He still felt hungry.
