My Werewolf System - Chapter 1752 Growing Hunger

Chapter 1752 Growing Hunger
After the comments from the others Midwak had stopped ordering. The restaurant they went to they had frequented a few times before and usually after six orders he was satisfied so he did find it a little strange.
Normally by that point he would lean back slightly, rub his stomach, and be content. Today though, even after the plates had been cleared and the others were slowing down, he still felt something unsettled inside him.
With everything happening he was more in tuned with things that just felt different compared to before.
‘Has my appetite grown?’ Midwak thought. ‘It’s quite normal, as one gets stronger, the amount I could consume has already increased along with my power.
‘I guess eating that Werewolf might have made me stronger than I thought.’
That had to be the answer. When he consumed strong opponents he gained from it, that much was clear. His body adapted, his strength increased, and naturally that would mean needing more sustenance to fuel that growth.
Still, it felt slightly different this time.
While wandering around as a group, eventually they had heard there was trouble. Midwak was the first to catch it, and he burst off running through the streets.
His senses were sharper than the others, and something in the tone of the scream had cut through the usual city noise.
He leapt and grabbed onto the lip of some of the structures of the buildings nearby, and pulled himself up, eventually getting him to a rooftop.
He continued to run across as he went looking for who it could be. Each jump between rooftops felt effortless, his body responding quickly.
‘Maybe it’s another one of those Werewolves, if I find them I can ask them what they’re doing here and what group they’re a part of!’ Midwak thought.
Part of him hoped it was one of them. If it was connected to the earlier events then maybe he could piece something together.
Eventually he skidded across one of the rooftops and he could hear the screaming more clearly now. It was a man standing there, his body transformed into an Altered with a rather long tongue. While a woman was on the ground who had been hurt, and cut.
“Ah, it’s you guys!” The man said as he backed up noticing the colour of the uniform. “Hey, I really don’t want any trouble, this woman, she’s my wife I promise.
“We just got into a little bit of an argument, and I snapped. This whole thing is stressful now you know, I have to live life an Altered, and I have to hide.
“But this Bitch didn’t understand.”
Midwak then went over to the woman on the ground, but he didn’t even need to touch her.
“She wasn’t an Altered though.” Midwak claimed. “Accident or not, you’ve killed her.”
The scent alone told him everything he needed to know. The blood had already begun to settle, and there was no pulse.
The man looked panicked, and then he whipped out his tongue from above trying to slash it down. Midwak threw his hand out and knocked it away, there was a loud clanging noise almost as if he had hit metal.
It was no wonder if an Altered had struck a regular civilian with that, that they would have died. Charging in, Midwak did what he needed to do. There was no drawn out fight. The difference in strength was clear from the start.
A little while after and the rest had managed to catch up to Midwak. When they arrived though they could see Midwak fully transformed and in the middle of something.
“Hey Big Unc, is everything alright man?” They asked.
They saw the woman who had been killed by the side, and then they saw Midwak stop as he turned around blood covering his mouth and fur.
“Yeah it’s fine, this damned Altered killed the woman, I was just making sure he could never do it again.” Midwak answered as he walked off.
His voice sounded normal. Too normal.
The others were looking at the scene, and then went to the body, having nearly all of its flesh eaten from it. They froze for a moment.
“Is big Unc okay?” One of them asked as they saw him jump off heading in a different direction.
“I mean I know he’s eaten Altered before, but doesn’t he only eat ones that are strong? This looked like a normal Altered, no gang affiliation or anything.”
“Maybe he was just angry because of what happened?”
The reason why Midwak had rushed from the scene so quick, was because he didn’t realise what he had done before he had done it.
In the middle of the fight, he had bit the Altered right by the neck killing the man instantly.
But the action, it was almost as if it was something inside of him, rather than something he had decided to do. And the next set of actions certainly weren’t his, as he continued to crunch down and consume the man, not stopping.
He hadn’t thought. He hadn’t weighed it. He had simply acted.
‘This isn’t normal, this has never happened before.’ Midwak thought as he continued to walk down the streets. ‘Right after eating that guy…my stomach, it feels hungrier than before.
‘Something’s not right? Did I eat a bad piece of meat, was it that damned cursed Werewolf…’
The memory of that previous fight flashed through his mind. The strange feeling of the flesh, the taste slightly different than usual.
It wasn’t painful for Midwak, it was annoying. Because he still felt like he needed to eat.
If there was one thing Midwak had it was a strong will, so he could suppress it, but there was a large worry forming.
‘When I walked past that woman as well… I wanted to eat her.’
He was strong willed to suppress these thoughts and not act on them for now but the question was, for how long.
