My Werewolf System - Chapter 1776 The Vampires Glory

Chapter 1776 The Vampires Glory
Outside on the sprawling grounds of the Howlers Manor, two fully transformed Werewolves were currently engaged in a brutal, high-speed sparring match. The sheer, terrifying physical power of their combat was absolute; the loud, heavy clashes of their limbs were physically shaking the solid ground beneath their paws.
Whenever a lethal, sweeping strike would narrowly miss its target, the resulting shockwave of displaced wind would violently push the heavy branches and strip the leaves off the trees in the distance.
“Alright, hold up! I think that’s more than enough for this round!” Xin shouted, panting heavily.
She had just perfectly blocked a devastating, high-speed swipe from a long-nailed Werewolf. Stepping back and dropping her guard, she took a deep breath. Slowly, the thick fur receded, and the muscles contracted as Olivia could be seen seamlessly transforming back into her normal human self, wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead.
“I already knew you were incredibly skilled because of your elite martial arts training in the AFA,” Olivia commented, stretching her aching shoulders. “But honestly, I thought that when you officially turned into a full-blooded Werewolf, you would have naturally had some type of steep, biological learning curve to get over.”
“There is a learning curve. A big one,” Xin replied, her own body shifting and shrinking until she had gone back to her human self. She repeatedly flexed her fingers, trying to get used to the absence of heavy claws. “That’s exactly why I specifically asked to rigorously train with you every day.”
Xin looked down at her hands, her brow furrowed in frustration.
“The two main things we desperately need to keep improving on right now is learning how to properly channel our Qi and utilize it far better in combat, exactly like Gary explicitly told us to do,” Xin explained, pacing the torn-up grass. “And for me personally… I haven’t been a Werewolf for very long. This raw, primal biology is completely different from what my refined Altered body was like. On top of that, my specific Werewolf form is significantly larger and heavier than most of the others.”
Xin gestured toward Olivia. “Honestly, for my highly technical, speed-based way of fighting that I learned at the academy, something much closer to your leaner, agile form would have actually been vastly better for me. I feel too heavy.”
Since Gary, Kai, and the main strike team had left the manor to investigate the city, Olivia would faithfully visit the fortified estate from Burnham Food Street three times a day just to train with Xin.
There was still a suffocating worry lingering in Kai and Gary’s minds that this entire country wide outbreak could be an elaborate, lethal trap. They were terrified that with the heavy hitters gone, the Vampires would suddenly launch a surprise attack on the manor, or that the ancient mastermind, Unzoku, would slink out of the shadows and take direct advantage of the vulnerable situation.
So, despite the horrifying, bloody reports that they had constantly heard on the news from other areas of the country, and as much as both women fiercely wanted to try and help the innocent civilians by investigating the streets, they logically knew it was best that they strictly stay put and guard the headquarters.
“Knowing those boys, they won’t be gone for too long,” Olivia said, trying to offer a comforting smile. “The absolute last thing we can afford to do right now is act reckless, leave the manor, and get kidnapped ourselves. Or worse, Unzoku somehow gets his claws into us and forcefully starts to mind-control Green Hair’s precious love of his life. What the hell would we even do then?”
Xin blushed slightly at the comment but didn’t argue the logic. The two women grabbed their towels and headed back inside the grand estate.
When they entered the opulent main hall, they could immediately see Marcus. He was casually leaning against the wall, loudly chewing down on a crisp green apple as he looked out of the floor-to-ceiling glass windows toward the ruined lawn where the two of them had just been violently sparring.
He, too, had been strictly staying at the manor.
“You both have gotten significantly better. You’re improving your combat instincts at a terrifyingly fast speed,” Marcus said, his eyes tracking the damage on the lawn before he took another loud bite of his apple. “Honestly, if the Vampire Leaders saw the raw physical power you two were just throwing around out there, they would be shaking in their expensive boots.”
“I genuinely don’t know if you’re being highly sarcastic right now, or if you’re actually being serious,” Xin replied, raising an eyebrow as she grabbed a bottle of water.
“Forgive me, it’s just incredibly frustrating not being able to do anything useful while the city burns outside,” Marcus answered, his tone dropping its playful edge.
He tossed the apple core into a nearby bin. “I was actually thinking of quietly sneaking out and heading to maybe one of the other hidden, secure areas where the Dark Guild’s containers were left abandoned.”
Marcus crossed his arms, his mind spinning with tactical possibilities. “If we could successfully raid those caches and provide your group with more high-tier beast weapons, it would exponentially increase your overall combat strength quite a bit for the coming war. And, as we’ve learned, if you effectively channel your Qi through the metals, the raw destructive power of the beast weapons amplifies even more.”
Marcus sighed, shaking his head. “However, after our last tense visit with the pale lords, I’m deeply afraid that the Vampires might already be watching over those specific locations from the shadows. I absolutely wouldn’t want to prematurely trigger a bloodbath and strain the fragile, political relationship that Gary currently has with them right now.”
Olivia walked over and decided to take a seat down at the heavy mahogany dining table. Surprisingly, despite being a relatively normal person dragged into this nightmare, she was quite deeply fascinated by this terrifying, hidden world of ancient Vampires and powerful Werewolves.
And since Marcus seemed to possess a vast, encyclopedic knowledge of the underworld and its darkest secrets, she had frequently bombarded him with probing questions every single time she had visited the manor.
“Do you honestly think the Vampires really will betray Gary the second they get a chance? You said this upcoming war like you’re sure it’s going to happen.” Olivia asked, her voice hushed, her eyes filled with genuine concern. “Three ancient, incredibly powerful Vampire Leaders appeared out of nowhere for this truce. If they somehow figure out that it’s technically mutated Werewolves causing all of this horrific slaughter in the city… they could instantly blame him and all attack him at once.”
Olivia leaned forward, resting her chin on her hands. “And if they do violently break the truce… will we officially be at an all-out war with their entire race? What is even the real history with all of the deep, genocidal hatred between the two species anyway?”
